Why do I feel hungover!? I think the dehydration and staying up late that comes with any party – alcohol or not – can involve feelings of drag the next morning! Karen is to thank for doing much of the clean-up last night (before we even noticed she had started!) and then Matt and I stayed up putting the kitchen away, unloading the dishwasher and things so that this morning we woke up to a [mostly] fresh house.
A morning bowl of Coach’s Oats with blackberries and raspberries, chia seeds, milk, water and peanut butter.
And a small mug of coffee later on!
We have a wide open Sunday (the first in over a month!) and I’m looking forward to enjoyed a nice summer day. Hoping there are no scary, dangerous storms in the future…and hope that you all have power this morning as well.

Finally got power back an hour ago! It has been miserable though! And I’m still waiting for my A/C to start really getting back to working well…
KathEats says
Yikes – hope it kicks in soon!

No power here in central Ohio since 5pm on Friday. Estimated restoration date: midnight, Saturday July 7! 🙁
KathEats says
Oh my gosh!!! You poor thing. Hopefully that’s a far estimate
Roxanne says
Really? that’s in 7 days! At least you can be thankful it happened in the summer… but what do you do for food now? no fridge, no stove?
JessicaR says
Luckily my mom’s house across town has power so I am staying with her, but I had to throw away a ton of food because she didn’t have enough room for it in her fridge. Bummer! I know it could be much worse though so I’m trying to be a trooper 🙂
Elisabeth says
Yikes! I live in the Findlay, OH area & there are a lot without power here for an extended period, too. 🙁

Have a nice relaxing day today! And eat plenty of watermelon to re-hydrate yourself. I’ve been practically living on the stuff this summer! 😀
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
What a fun evening you had last night! Today is our party day…Canada Day! Lots of yummy treats to enjoy…I am excited to try our ‘red and white’ Strawberry Lemonade Popsicles I made for the boys to celebrate! We also have sparklers for later on…kids love them! Have a great day!
KathEats says
Happy Canada Day!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
Isn’t is strange how lack of sleep & proper hydration can have effects like that? I have that happen to me, too, sometimes! I always think it’s the placebo effect of being around everyone else who’s been drinking 🙂
Emily M. says
okay this is SUCH a random question but…how can you eat hot breakfasts on such hot days? haha it sends my body into warming overdrive! but it looks delicious nonetheless of course!
KathEats says
Air conditioning 🙂
Elisse says
What? That first picture is so cool! How you manage to take such beautiful photographs first thing in the morning, before breakfast, is beyond me. But I do love waking up to them!

I hope everyone gets by alright until all the power is restored! storms were scary. my apartment didn’t lose electricity, but EP’s house is still without. luckily his papa bought a generator this year, and it’s strong enough to run their AC when everything else is off.
hope you feel better for your laid-back summer sunday! overnight oats sound delicious. I almost made a bowl of oatmeal last night, and then realized it would trip the generator. whoops.
Roxanne says
Kath, I like the glass bowl, is it a set or by itself?
KathEats says
It’s from CB2
Angel7 says
One month to go for you & Matt before the baby arrives 🙂

So sweet of your MIL! Kath can you do a post about the relationship between you and your MIL. How your relationship has evolved over the years and how do you manage to maintain such a sweet rapport with each other while some of us over here struggle hard to stay in the same room for even an hour ( MILs&DILs ). I try to be very cooperative and understanding with my MILbut there seems to no avail. Please help:-)
KathEats says
I’m not sure how helpful it would be because every relationship is so different. I’m lucky that we get along pretty well
Vidya says
Your breakfast looks royal BTW.
Kelsey says
I always feel the same way – especially when I eat a lot of sugar – when I stay up late!
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Amazing how drained you can feel after a party, even as you say when you haven’t been drinking!
Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See says
Love coaches oats! I never realized the lady who started the company lives right next to me 😉
Amanda H. says
Friends are so awesome! Especially ones who are sneaky in cleaning up before you notice. I’ve got one friend who always seems to beat me to it, even when I think I’m going to get her for once 😛
Amelia @ Eating Made Easy says
I remember waking up feeling hungover a lot during pregnancy – not just during morning sickness. I always thought it was from low blood sugar since I hadn’t eaten during the night. Sounds funny when you’re not pregnant but when you are it’s a long time to go w/o food!
