The best part of visiting Gram is spending time with her, of course.
But another perk is the fabulous hotel where we sometimes get to stay. Sometimes we stay in her apartment building, but sometimes the rooms are full, so this time we got rooms at the hotel next door. Mom and Larbs are in one room and since I’m only staying one night and my sister and I would fight each other in one bed, mom treated me to a room of my own. I’ve had the best time in here! I pretend it’s Gram’s guesthouse.
After a great night’s sleep, I met Larbs in the updated and fancy exercise room downstairs for a great workout. I actually RAN on the treadmill in an interval workout: 2 minutes running @ 6.0, 3 minutes walking @ 3.3, all on incline 2. All listening to Pregtastic, of course : ) Running was hard. At first my whole body itched (probably from not doing much high intensity lately) and I did feel like my abdomen was a bit more hollow, but overall it was fine.
Lovin’ my new curves! [And it’s been a long time since I’ve actually SWEAT!]
I ate some Trek bar before my workout. These things are like Elivish lembas bread on Lord of the Rings – they are energy dense and seem to last forever!
During my luxurious Shine-products shower, I sipped on a cup of coffee. I feel so grown-up making coffee in my hotel room.
We’re headed over to Gram’s for breakfast (“burries” on the menu!!) and then on a ladies’ shopping trip. I’m headed back to Cville after lunch.

I love being pampered at hotels 🙂 and they usually have better fitness rooms than my gym. I long for treadmills with personal TV’s like that! Makes it so much easier to run for a while.
Lynn @ the actor's diet says
Those bars sound amazing. Have fun w your family!
katie @KatieDid says

I love your LOTR reference to Lembas bread–you are too funny! I am a first time commenter, but I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now and just wanted to say how much I enjoy it. In addition to what I’m sure are dozens of other people, you’ve inspired me to start my own blog. Keep up the fantastic work (but make sure to take time for yourself and Baby Kerf)! 🙂
Angel7 says
I want some of those Trek bars. I need all the energy I can get!
Have a great day, Kath 🙂

I definitely laughed at the LOTR elvish bread reference.
trillingslied says
LOTR reference made my day.
I actually love having hotel rooms all to myself (maybe I’m just a loner at heart, haha) — there’s something so luxurious about it. And your curves are beautiful 🙂
Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
Enjoy the time with your family! 🙂
Kelly @ Vegolosophy says
Looks like a beautiful place! Have a great time with your family!
Jessica says
Since you keep singing the praises of Trek bars and they don’t have them in my area, you should work on a recipe for them 🙂
Andrea says
Love that LOTR reference 🙂 You look beautiful with your new curves!

I was just at the mall across the street from your hotel on Friday! I’ve stayed at that hotel for a wedding, so I recognize it 🙂

My hubbie and I enjoyed a nice easy run this morning too. Your family visit looks like lots of fun! Our family is headed on our own family trip tomorrow. Heading to Vermont from Canada…hope to find a Great Harvest along the way…we have never been! Your blog has made it the number one destination stop for me! lol! Unfortunately, I don’t think my boys will be able to enjoy any of your treats with their peanut/tree nut allergy and other food allergies. Luckily, they are old enough and understand my desire to experience a Great Harvest! I’ve been baking bread, muffins and cookies non-stop to compensate! Have a great day shopping…can’t wait to do that myself!
Ali says
Oh my gosh if you’re doing that drive with peanut/nut allergic kids, you must must MUST go to Vermont Nut Free Chocolates. They’re just south of the border after your cross down into VT, and we make the stop every time we drive that road (and spend far too much money). They’re entirely certified nut free, and it’s nice to change it up from smarties every once in a while – think peppermint bark, chocolate-covered pretzels, truffles…. Check them out and have FUN!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
So funny you should mention Vermont Nut Free Chocolates…my husband and I emailed them yesterday to find out if their cocoa was dairy free as well as peanut/tree nut free as one of my sons also has a dairy allergy. (along with eggs, sesame, beef, shellfish, fish, mustard and raspberries) We were so happy to hear it is! I am glad to hear it’s easy to get to! Thanks for the tip!
Ali says
Oh yay – that’s great! Check the store hours though – I’m not sure if they’re open on Sundays. It is easy to get to – it’s on a secondary highway, but it really does not take much longer than the main route (not including the shopping stop). The toffee crunch is amazing (although, it does have dairy) and the chocolate-covered pretzels are addictive. Have a good trip!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Yes, closed Sundays…maybe on the way back…thanks!

How do you feel running? That’s awesome that you’re still going strong! I know so many friends who instantly knew they were preggs because they had NO desire to run anymore.
KathEats says
Well I am one of those who had no desire 🙂
But I do feel that I have a bit more energy these days, and as the weather gets better my urge to run increases. I don’t think I’ll be out running 10K’s any more, but maybe a couple miles or intervals. It did feel good to get back at it.
Jennifer says
I was right down the street from you today w/my Half Marathon training group! If you saw a bunch of people in highlighter colored jackets that was us 🙂 We run out of Charm City Run in Timonium if you ever go there. They have the Brooks Calvalcade there today which is fun times if you’ve ever seen it! http://www.brooksrunning.com/Brooks-Run-Happy%C2%AE-Tour/run_happy_tour,default,pg.html
I doubt you’ll have time to stop by there today but just thought I’d pass that along! 🙂
KathEats says
Fun! I think it’s fun when there are blog readers all around 🙂 If I were in better physical condition I would have loved to run with you!

Aww, your baby bump looks great in workout clothes.
P.S. This is pretty odd, but I had a dream (no a nightmare!) last night that you stopped KERF. Lol, let’s just say that I was happy to wake-up and see new posts published *phew*.
KathEats says
Oh dear!! Hope that’s not foreshadowing!
Marla says
Anyone else having a photo behind the words and cOmments in this
post? I see a pic of a bowl of oatmeal and it’s much harder to
see the post this way- is this a new change?
Difficult to read so thought I’d mention….
KathEats says
That’s really odd. I have no idea. Can you send me a screen shot?

This morning it is now back to normal,
but I can tell you it was in my iPod

Thanks anyways!
