LOVING this weather!! We have played outside all week, and hope it continues. We have the Palmetto sofa from Pottery Barn, which I originally bought in white for the screened-in porch at our old house. Those cushions did great under a roof, but in this house, especially with the rainwater coming off the roof, they had mildewed and stained. I was able to wash and bleach them and they improved a lot, but I knew we needed something darker for the couch’s new outdoor location. I waited for a great sale at Pottery Barn and pounced on some new navy slipcovers. Love the darker color, and i have the white ones to use as back up too.
Still working on a layout, and have a firepit on the way!
I am thinking of different things to do with the big garden boxes we built behind the patio. I want to put herbs in the smaller one, but am debating what to do with the longer one. Landscaping plants or greens? We do still have last year’s garden space for veggies, so I might put the greens over there. Would love any opinions!
Half mulch, half garden.
Breakfast smoothie FTW! The usual: banana, spinach, Vega, oats, milk, yogurt. A small slide of Irish Soda Bread on the side.
This rando lunch was lasagna leftovers plus some veggies dipped in homemade hummus and a kombucha. Loving the Barefoot Bucha these days!
We had a great playdate with our friends this week. Check out the parade of wheels! Back when these kiddos were babies we got together almost every afternoon. Now it’s once in a blue moon that we get together with them all because they have quadrupled in size! But it was so great to have all the moms and the kids together. Everyone is so grown up!
Scold me any week I don’t do Cook Smarts or Gathered Table – man is meal planning a lifesaver! I took 10 minutes to plan out the week on Sunday and was rewarded with this Cook Smarts Shiitake and Rice Soup plus a Kale + Apple salad with almonds and cheese. {Soooo glad dinner hour is during daylight and warm temps again!}
Now if we could only grow some grass in our yard….!

Large garden beds are a great place to mix landscaping plants with edibles. If the layout is well planned, it can be a pretty and practical arrangement.
I love the navy cushions!

I love your patio furniture!! I need to get something for my little balcony. It’s pretty small but I think it should fit a small table and a chair and then a homemade planter box for a mini garden!!

We aren’t quite at the lounging outdoors phase, so my cushions are still packed away. But we are having gorgeous weather which means lots of outdoor walking and running 🙂

What about mixing it up? Some plants and then maybe hollyhocks or a flower with height to give it some interest?

The patio & beds look great! Can’t wait to see what you plant – looks like Matt’s got some frmaes set up for hops already! I’ve always heard that outdoor furniture cushions should be brought inside or into storage for the colder months, since although they’re designed for outdoor use, they still get waterlogged and moldy. Plus, I think it makes stuff last longer since it’s not out in the elements. I’m loving on those navy slipcovers, though!!

Yes my old ones were already gone by winter so I didn’t bother to bring them in but I hope to take good care of these
Paige says
Hi Kath, pottery barn does make covers for those cushions. Hope that helps!

One of the things I want to do this year is plant some herbs and cucumbers in the backyard so I can save a little on groceries!

The temperatures have been amazing lately. I cannot wait to feel secure that the weather won’t changes its mind with typical March ups and downs. I am so ready for Spring and gardening.

I can’t wait for warmer temperatures to be in Denmark as well! I am looking so much forward to spring. Your breakfast smoothie looks so good!

Do Zinnias in the bed! Super easy to grow and rewards you with cut flowers all season! Plus you can do from seed which Mazen might enjoy. Could also do a bunch of edible flowers like nasturtium, marigolds.
