I had a lovely Saturday morning, including lots of hiking around downtown and a power yoga class.
First to the Farmer’s Market, where I got some grass-fed beef and a present for Matt!
And next to the Organic Butcher for more presents and herby local chicken breasts for dinner this week.
It wasn’t until I was back home unpacking things I realized my chicken was nowhere to be found. I feared the worst – that it was on the ground somewhere along the mile walk from the store to my house, but when I called, they said I had left it on the scale.
I trekked back over after yoga and tried to get a laugh out of the folks there with:
“I think I left my breasts here?!”
Laugh they did
By the time I’d walked to the butcher, the market and back and then to yoga and to the butcher and back again, I think I covered 4-5 miles! Plus an hour of vinyasa yoga (Pilar’s last class – sniff!). I was starved.
Big ole salad of mixed greens, carrots, honey, salt and bleu cheese
Toast with Barney Butter melted on top
And Oikos with Nature’s Path granola.
A filling feast for sure.
Kelly @ Foodie Fiasco says
I’m so sorry it’s Pilar’s last class! Your feast looks delish, though. Happy Saturday!
Mom says
Years ago,I was told, Southerners would NEVER say “breast” when referring to chicken, only “white meat.” And the thigh was called the “second joint.”
Roxanne says
for us, the thigh is dark meat.
Mom says
Yes the breast was called “white meat” not the “breast” and the thigh, which I agree is dark meat, was called the “second joint.”

Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Glad the breasts were recovered.
And sniff on a last yoga class for Pilar…always sad to say goodbye to yoga folks but in yoga, it seems that there is so much transient stuff..it’s like artists (or even bloggers)..they come. And they go. But it’s still bittersweet.
A present for Matt…yay! Hope he likes it!
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
hahah that’s soooo funny! I would have giggled too at your joke, or said, “uhh they’re back there in aisle 9”. 😛

Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon says
I left some chicken breasts in a bag at the grocery store once–it’s so frustrating to have to go back!
But, we are better off than my mom who once left her chicken in her car…in the summer. Let’s just say her car did not have the most pleasant odor after that incident…

Yum! I have been on a total blue cheese kick lately. I made a quart sized batch of blue cheese dressing this weekend! I kept it a little cleaner with 1/2 fat free greek yogurt and 1/2 mayo, but still- whoa!
