And the Buddha bowl
[Hopefully back in stock on Monday, FYI]
I used another Great Harvest Oatmeal Mix today – Cinnamon Raisin! Matt said it’s oats, raisins, cinnamon, a little brown sugar, and milk powder. It wasn’t quite as good as the one I had on Sunday – I wonder if there was either less milk powder or none because I didn’t add any milk myself and it was pretty watery. Will have to investigate!
The Mix
- 1/3 cup oat mix
- 2/3 cup water
- ~1/3 of a banana (all I had left in the freezer – the countertop ones still have green tips and that will just not do.)
- 1/2 cup blueberries, added at the end of cooking so they’d just heat up and burst with blue upon chew
- Chai granola
- Barney Butter blobs from the bottom of the jar
Spring Blend. So you know my problem with caffeine? That I can basically just have a half cup’s worth at a time? We’ll I’m all out of decaf to mix in and half a mug is just no fun so today I tried making it just weaker. It wasn’t half bad! I think because my normal cups are suuuuper strong and concentrated.
The bee’s knees
Have a great day at work [or play or school!]
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
I love my coffee strong too. I should try making it weaker at some point and see how it goes. 😀
Your buddha bowl always makes me smile. It’s like a “hug mug” in bowl form. Love it! 😀
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says
I wish I could get into coffee – I keep trying, but I think unless I put a ton of sugar in, it just wouldn’t work 🙁 Did you like it as soon as you tried it, or did it grow on you?
Have a good day!
Kath says
Liking coffee without sugar is all mental. I think I liked it on my second try.
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
Not a coffee lover here, but I always think it LOOKS delicious!
Lindsay @ Summit Sandwiches says
Your french press coffee always looks so delicious. Does it make a big difference as far as the taste goes? Is there any texture difference between that and regular coffee as well (i.e. is it thicker?)? Just thought I’d check. I’m a big coffee lover and would love to have my morning cup o’ joe be the best it can be. Lol…I sound like a proud parent or something.
Kath says
I think it’s richer and thicker. I think you’d like it!
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Ahhh, those bowls are so cute! 🙂 Enjoy your Thursday!

Looks like a great meal in a great bowl!

I love those bowls.
Yesterday I made a “muffin” kind of spun off from your and Jenna’s pancake version . kinda nice.
Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin says
I love the taste of french press coffee, but I’ve finally gotten myself to a point where I don’t NEED it everyday. Caffeine doesn’t really affect me that much – – it mostly just used to give me headaches when I wouldn’t have it.
Marina says
mhm, blueberris in oatmeal, and granola on top. Sounds so yumm right now. I’m starving :))
have a nice day 🙂
Lauren @ eater not a runner says
I love your outside pics in the morning 🙂

oh i could not start my day without coffee and blogg reading!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
The oats looked tasty! I love strong coffee…the only way to start my day! Well that, exercise and oatmeal! Have a great day!
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
I like a good espresso but I’ll settle for a bold brewed coffee.
Jil @ Peace, Love & Munchies says
I love strong coffee (though only 1 cup – I don’t know how some people manage 5 or more cups in a day…ridonc! I’d be shaking like a leaf!) – I love espresso but lately I’ve been doing drip because I have some that I need to get through before it goes bad. I just use more coffee to have it be similar to espresso. No complaints here. I’m not super sensitive to caffeine, but one cup is all I need.
Annie@stronghealthyfit says
That chai granola sounds amazing. I didn’t like coffee until I tried it a few times, either. Or until I got to college and really found out what sleep deprivation felt like 😉
Danielle (Coffee Run) says
Ohh the stronger coffee the better! lol probably not so good for you…
Have a good day Kath 😀
Shelbney says
Hey Kath,
Thought of you the other day at the grocery store. I believe it is maxwell house, not 100% sure on that, but they have a new coffee that is half caf, half decaf. Don’t know if this helps, just thought I’d mention it. Love the site, one of my daily musts.
Kath says
I think I’ve seen that! It would help, but I’m such a coffee snob and mostly drink flavored kinds that I”m not sure I’d like it. I usually just mix 1/2 and 1/2 at home. But I hope the concept catches on!
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
Oh my goodness…I’m staying with my parents right now, and my dad makes the house coffee SO strong. It’s like tar. But in a good way. 🙂
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
I was looking into GH’s oatmeal. I love that it’s all very simple ingredients.
Stacy Grows Healthy says
I’m going the other way, need my coffee stronger and stronger. Eek! When I’m not going to work, I don’t need it at all, but on work days I NEED it! 5 day coffee addiction hmmm.
How did you cut back so much?
She-Fit says
Oh I wish I loved coffee! I just can’t get myself to like it. It would be very helpful on my early work mornings.
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
coffee was something i had to get used to, but once you fall in love it’s hard to go back! now i have it every (or just about every) morning and I love it!
Heather says
Love that bowl!
I am a tea drinker – I haven’t developed a taste for coffee.
I hope you have a great day!

I can’t handle coffee, no matter how much sugar or milk is added. It is jut disgusting!
I love the Buddha bowl, so cute!
Lisa C. says
Chai granola sounds amazing! I need a tutorial on a French Press… I bought one and can’t seem to make it work for me– the coffee just doesn’t turn out!
Kath says
Tutorial right here!
Camille says
Well, not matter what, your bowl looks great!
I love my coffee strong and full of caffeine… I am a bit of an addict!
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life says
Lovin’ your oatmeal mix today…cinnamon raisin is one of my fave combos! YUMM! 😀
And I’m a fan of the caffeine…no decaf for me!
Stacie @ Imperfectly Healthy says
That oatmeal mix looks great! I am going to have to check out the Great Harvest near us soon!
I’m with you on the coffee! If it’s too strong, I get a really sick feeling and have a headache all day! Not fun!
jenny (green food diaries) says
my housemate also has that bowl!
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
The Great Harvest that Matt works at makes so much good stuff. The one I go to in Oregon is not that creative. They do a great job, but it would be nice if there was a little more creativity.
Hayley says
I neeeed a buddha bowl. They seem so cozy!
Hannah says
Hmm, I usually opt for decaf, but I might tyr your weaker coffee idea sometime. I’m annoyingly senstive to caffeine!
