Something about this breakfast reminds me of the 1950s. The florals. The lime green setting.
Inside the bowl was a combo of yogurt, banana, blueberries, wheat waffles, Ellwood granola and almond butter.
A tale of many textures and flavors.
I have more writing to do this morning, questionable visit to Body Pump, a mid-afternoon meeting with Matt about a possible television appearance, and a Mexican dinner planned with a friend.
Let’s get it started in heya.
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
I freaking love the 60’s. Did you see my anthropologie bowl? Omgggggg. So 50’s housewife.
Sara says
What kind of yogurt have you been using lately? I wouldn’t eat anything but greek for awhile but now I’ve really been enjoying Stonyfield plain.
KathEats says
I’ve been hooked on Oikos, but this was actually Whole Foods Organic Low-Fat. I find it to be the best plain I’ve tried (it’s less sour than Stonyfield)
Khushboo says
I want that breakfast- sounds so yummy!
mel says
so this is random, but I was just catching up on your posts from yesterday. Hands down, the best shows on television right now are Whitney, Modern Family, Up all night. You need to DVR all of them! seriously worth it!
faith says
A big fat “second that” for Modern Family, my husband and I laugh out loud to every episode!
Tracy says
Modern Family = BEST show on TV right now!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I love that spoon, it’s gorgeous!
Maria @ Sinfully Nutritious says
What a beautiful way to wake up and enjoy breakfast. It is amazing how presentation can change the way we eat. Great job!
mel says
also, how much protein do you recommend to tone up? I’m 127 pounds and a vegetarian and I’m trying to up my protein to tone up a little more. I’ve heard to eat half of my body weight. What do you think? Thanks!
KathEats says
For someone who is not sick, recovering, a major body builder or pregnant, the AND recommends 0.8 grams/kg body weight.
mel says
so for me, that would be about 101 grams of protein. That seems like alot, but doable esp with the help of a serving of hemp or egg white protein power every day. Thanks Kath!
KathEats says
no for you it’s 46grams. 127/2.2 = 57.7 kg and then x 0.8 = 46. very doable!
Kinley @ Better Off Barefoot says
I’ve been craving mexican out so bad! I try making it at home but it never has quite the same taste 🙂
And I say, go for the pump! Don’t question it 😉
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
I love the place setting and of course you know I’m in love with your ornate spoons. I can’t wait to go poking around to see if I can find some at antique stores. Enjoy your day!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Ooh the possible television appearance sounds like fun! Bakery or blog related? Either way, can’t wait to hear more!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
It does look very 50’s. I can totally see it in my grandmother’s kitchen cabinets in her old house with the puke green countertops. <–said in the most nostalgic of ways 😉
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
I remember growing up with that colour on the stove and refridgerator…it seemed like years before it got replaced! It was quite the rage at the time. I much prefer the simple whites of today.
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
i haven’t had mexican in forever! you definitely have me craving some fajitas now!
Cait's Plate says
Oooh a television appearance?!?! How exciting!!
Also? I’m with you on that reminding you of the 50s…I definitely agree.
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
TV appearance? Woo hoo- big time! 🙂
Hope you’re not freezing your butt off down there- it’s insanely cold here (and we’re supposed to have ice overnight!)
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Television appearance! You mention it so nonchalantly…it sounds exciting! Do tell! I am off skating with my youngest son’s class today…I better stretch out my fingers for all the lacing of skates that may be required. Have a great day!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Mexican is a great way to start the weekend. Gorgeous bowl, as always!
Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life says
Love the bowl! So cheery and springy on a day that the temperature is 10 degrees where I live! Boo!
Andrea @FrSeed2Stomach says
How were those blueberries? I tend to stick to frozen in the winter months, but those look good! I wonder where they’re from… Also… go to body pump! 😛
KathEats says
They’re from CA and were quite good. We’re having an influx of berries at our store from CA and FL
Kristen @ Change of Pace says

Sounds like a fun day! The living room and hallway in my house growing up were both painted pale lime green – almost lime peel. It was – still is – very sunny to come home to at the end of the day!
