It’s that time of year for….cozy things, red wine, and more!
That Time Of Year
Warm days, cool nights! Birch LOVES his JJ Cole Bundleme for his stroller. He gets as far down and covered as he can.
He is so toasty warm when we arrive at school. And I am toasty sweating from the walk – haha.
I hope to walk through the winter. We tend to walk when it’s above 30 degrees and there is no snow on the ground.
Halloween Recap
Despite a downpour when we started to head out for trick-or-treating, Halloween was a success!
Mazen was off with his buddies 2 houses ahead of us all night.
It’s the time of year when candy is everywhere!
Our dentist gave us good advice: rather than rationing it all winter, especially after dinner before bed, which is HORRIBLE for teeth, let them have as much as they want for one week and then do the “Halloween Challenge” = unlimited candy in 20 minutes. Then the rest is donated. I am a fan of this!
Grapes + Granola
A weird combo, but I’ve been into it. Grapes are great right now!
I’ve also been into cottage cheese. It’s so underrated!
Overnight Oats
with bananas and pecans.
Pears, Too
Pears are also so good right now! And Oatmeal Squares are Birch and my favorite cereal.
The Comeback of Great Harvest Cinnamon Chip
Hello old friend.
The End Of Sports
Baseball and golf season have ended. And soccer is done for us.
Mazen really enjoys baseball, and we’re looking to get him some lessons over the winter.
I will not miss the Saturday morning rush.
Breakfast at the field. Overnight oats are always the ultimate rush breakfast!
Gaga for Gaga
When baseball is off season, Gaga is in! This is Mazen’s second favorite sport. He stays after school to play.
Dark and Gourdy
I am OBSESSED with this Cerveza Athletica from Athletic Brewing!! It tastes like a Dos Equis and is perfect with a lime. The best non-alcoholic drink ever! You can get 10% off if you order with my link! They are also popping up in Whole Foods too. There are so many flavors!
I also bought their pumpkin beer, Dark and Gourdy. Unfortunately I did not love this one because it’s more of a stout than anything else. I don’t really love stouts.
Lunches In / Lunches Out
Made myself some sauteed chicken for the week seasoned simply with Tastefully Simple roasted garlic and seasoned pepper.
Giant chicken salad + leftover cornbread
Day date to Feast!
Mezeh is my all-time favorite “bowl place”
Fancy Dinner by Thomas
I had been saving this special King Family Vineyards wine for a long time. We finally opened it! Best wine I’ve had all year.
Fancy Italian Night
Thomas made his famous stuffed shells to go with it.
More delicious dinners
Blue Apron Dijon Salmon
Pork Enchiladas
Blue Apron Cajun Spiced Salmon
I order the salmon entree every week because we all love salmon, even Mazey.
Random
I have no idea what this is haha. I would say lunch because of the chips except for the wine. But I think it’s actually a NA red wine I tried with lunch! The bonus of having something non-alcoholic is you can have it any time of day. Unfortunately I haven’t found a NA red wine that I think is decent enough to re-order. I have a NA blog post coming for Dry January!
Cozy Szn
Love these fox jams from Old Navy!

I think you should do the NA post in December, pre Dry January.

Wait, is the dentist’s recommendation to eat as much as you can in 20 minutes and after that it’s getting thrown away/donated? I fear that feels like learning how to binge eat. My kids keep their absolute favorites (10-20 pieces I would guess) and donate the rest, and I put the absolute favorites into lunch boxes over the course of a few weeks. Probably not terrific for the teeth, either, but this year it’s feeling like an ok strategy.

I like your favorites plan too! The dietitian in me doesn’t love the “eat as much as you can fit so you feel sick” solution either…

Oatmeal squares are my favorite too!
