Happy Black Friday!! You will find me doing anything BUT shopping today. I don’t like lines, crowds, or shopping in general for that matter! I do have plans for yoga, wine tasting, and some time in the country today, though.
Thanksgiving Day breakfast – fuel up because the next meal isn’t until dinner!
We had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. My parents are here, and we did a low-key dinner out at Thomas’s parents’ house.
The theme was Ninjas! At least for the youngest guests.
Mr. Mazen suggested his own bow tie for the dinner. Didn’t he look dapper!
We had oysters, a cheese board, and crab dip for an appetizer.
Thomas’s crab dip was epic!!
We ate so much crab, we had to take a break before dinner. The boys went exploring in the woods. T loved showing Mazen his old stomping ground.
Our Menu
Smoked turkey
Rutabega mash
Dressing
Sweet potatoes
Cranberry sauce
Corn pudding
Green beans
Olive oil rolls
?
And for dessert – pumpkin and pecan pies from Paradox Pastry!
It was a lovely day of food + family.
What was the best thing you ate yesterday?

Lovely fire, food and walk in the woods! We call rutabegas swedes in the UK, they are great mashed with potatoes and carrots and lots of black pepper – yum!

That all looks amazing, and you all look so lovely! I made quite a nice lunch salad that included sauteed butternut squash and zucchini noodles marinated in the vinaigrette you shared in your vegetable stack recipe, goat cheese, lentils, pom seeds, and pumpkin seeds. It hit the spot! Our turkey turned out really well, and I always love making my grandomther’s cornbread dressing. It was a great day of food for us!

Everything looks so yummy! I’ve been looking for a crab dip recipe if anyone has a tried and tested one they would share….

What a beautiful Thanksgiving! I’m so so glad to see you doing so well and life just getting better and better for you! Thankful for your blog!
I think my favorite thing I ate was the green bean casserole my sister-in-law made! SO good!

What a lovely dinner your in-laws put on, Kath, and how awesome that your parents were there to celebrate, too! Did you bring a veggie side dish so that you could “Go Green”, like your last post discusses? We had some great steamed green beans with our meal and I really enjoyed them.

My moms pineapple stuffing! Us “kids” always fight for the leftovers 😉

We had the best mashed potatoes at my sister in laws yesterday. Truly divine. Also, my niece made a pumpkin pie with a walnut and pecan crust. Oh my. I want some right now?

Happy Thanksgiving – everything looks wonderful!
I have an odd question. Now that you’ve been spending so much time in the woods, are you vigilant about checking for ticks? It’s sad but true that playing in the leaves just make me think of those nasty disease-carrying buggers.
KathEats says
Not religiously, but thanks for the reminder! It’s not something I’m used to thinking about 🙂

Oh, crab dip. Sounds (and looks) wonderful! It’s hard for me to pick a favorite food. We had three new men at Thanksgiving this year (my two sisters and my boyfriend), and they were all so helpful and fabulous cooks. My sister Moriah’s boyfriend Paul said he’s not much of a cook and wanted to contribute, so he made a mince meat pie from Game of Thrones cookbook! Everyone loved it.

Your Thanksgiving looks like it was a great one and the foods look incredible!

Kath your hair is gorgeous! It seems thicker lately. Are you doing anything differently?
Such a lovely post, seems like a nice family get together.

It looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I love your whole outfit- super cute!!
I don’t know how that breakfast held you until dinner- I think I probably eat more than that on a daily basis for bfast! Hahaha oops! But, oh my goodness all that food looks delicious. My favorite thing I ate was the turkey that I my dad cooked on the smoker! Delicious!
