Boy was I completely pooped from head to toe when I got in bed last night. I slept great, but woke up this morning with hips about to cramp and a general stiffness from yesterday’s weight lifting. I’m taking today off as a rest – plus stretch – day! I’d love to go see a movie or start a new book. We have a few raindrops to make that even more appealing. And Matt and I have a tentative date planned for this evening.
I woke up really hungry this morning – probably residual blood sugar imbalance from so much sugar last night! But this bowl of whole grain filled me right up.
Whipped banana oatmeal with blueberries, chia seeds, cherry jam [According to Daniel] and almond butter.
Earl Grey on the side!

At first glance that cherry jam looked like cherry tomatoes… Rest days are ALWAYS a good thing. I took one yesterday and it was definitely needed!

You’re especially color coordinated to today – even those cherries match the towel. Have fun on your date tonight!

I had to do a double take…the jam dollops look like sliced cherry tomatoes!

The “hips don’t lie.” It sounds like some ligaments are getting ready for some future action!

Good Morning! Please explain how eating sugar makes you feel more hungry. Thanks! Enjoy your weekend! -G
KathEats says
An overload of sugar in the blood leads to an overload of insulin, which helps to move the glucose into the cells from the blood. Once the sugar is stored though, there is excess insulin in the blood that signals the body to say “I need more sugar.” I would think this reactive hypoglycemia would have a more acute effect, however, I have found that personally if I eat too much sugar (or alcohol!) that I always wake up with mild hypoglycemic symptoms.

Thanks, that was very informative!

Not sure what you like to read, but Patti Smith’s Just Kids and Jennifer Egan’s A Visit from the Goon Squad are some of my recent favorites.

Your table cloth is so cute! Also, I enjoyed reading your post about why sugar makes you hungry. That is very good to know and remember to eat it in small doses.
