Sure, it’s really, really hot out there. But give me some shade, a bottle of cold water and a fan and I can handle it! It just requires washing everything I’m wearing and a cold shower before bed – and some sweat expectations!
[Holy bump growth spurt!!!! 31 weeks today!]
Afternoon snack (plus 2 bottles of water!)
And Matt and I walked downtown for Fridays tonight!
Unfortunately no one else got the memo – or at least while the sun was still out!
Some of us cooled off with a cold brew
Others with icy water and two fans!
We listened to music for a bit and then decided to head to dinner. Since we’re cooking up a storm tomorrow, we took ourselves out on a date tonight.
And made our way to the coooool Blue Light Grill
Where the lights were dim and the AC was blasting
I had a little trouble with the booth seating, but our friend Elizabeth (of the famous No Bull Burger family!) and server for the night was kind enough to bring me a bolster pillow for my back. Ahhhh.
Matt and I shared a 3-course meal
Fried oysters to start – with a maple glaze and root veggies! These were delicious (and what got me in the door from the menu!)
We split a local Black Bass with crawfish, pork, potatoes and collard greens for our entrée.
I remember my mom telling me when she was pregnant she could not stand fish, but it’s still my #1 favorite entrée! I just love all kinds of fish, and this one was no exception.
And finally – we HAD to get the Grilled Peach with vanilla bean gelato, peanuts and lemon verbana for dessert
This was a local peach – so juicy sweet and the gelato by Splendora’s was out of this world. I must get their vanilla flavor the next time I’m in!
Back out in the heat we went (I seriously can’t believe how pregnant I suddenly look!)
And we ran into Seamane and Rob! We can always count on them for Fridays : )
Baby leg poking out!
I survived the heat, but I don’t know if our plants are. Must water in AM!

So sweet of your friend to bring you a pillow 🙂 Reminds me of when my back was injured and I had to carry a small pillow with me to lecture.

You are most definitely looking bigger and more pregnant than b4. Congrats. You look beautiful 🙂
The Healthy Apple says
You look beautiful; lovin’ the little belly bump. xoxo Miss you tons. Have a great weekend.
Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
I knew that bump growth spurt would happen right about now- you said that you were feeling small last week and I remember how shocked I was when the spurt was soooooo noticeable and sooooo fast! You look great, Kath!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
the Grilled Peach with vanilla bean gelato looks incredible! And way to go for staying active and not sitting at home on a Friday night, even though you’re probably hot and tired – you sure look like a champ!
Jen says
Wow, Downtown was dead! Maybe it was early?
LOVE that blue shirt!
Angel7 says
Our plants are parched, too! It rained a little, but not enough to quench their thirst 🙂

You look seriously great for being 31 weeks! I honestly don’t remember having the energy you have when I was pregnant with either of my boys. You are so good to exercise and walk everywhere…and it shows! You are prettily pregnant! :-)Do you feel that way yourself? I don’t think I felt that way if I recall. Been a while since those days. My boys are nearly 14 and 16 now!
Rebecca @ Blueberry Smiles says
Your belly looks so cute!
Ali @ Peaches and Football says
You look absolutely adorable!!!
Crazy hot here too – I’m watering the plants on my porch twice a day and they still don’t look very happy.
Cait's Plate says

My sister and I were just talking about grilled peaches – your dessert looks amazing! Definitely think we need to try that out soon.
Kelsey says
I hope I look just as cute when I’m pregnant some day! (In the far future..haha)
Ashton says
Wow no kidding you look like you popped for sure 🙂 very exciting! Can you please send some of that summer weather my way! Everyone here is calling this June June-uary because of how crappy non sunny it’s been and muggy lots.
Liz says
Lookin’ definitely pregnant these days. 🙂 That color of blue really suits you & the bump! I must ask – what kind of flip flops are those? I’ve been looking for a good, comfy pair of brown ones.
KathEats says
Old navy, years ago
Caitie says
Try Rainbows! Best and comfiest pairs of flip flops
Elisabeth says
I’ll have to check out Rainbows – I’ve heard other people say they’re awesome 😉
Nikki T says
You’re looking great Kath!!
Heather @ Fit Mama Real Food says
Ahhhh the belly is adorable!! 9 more weeks to go!
Roxanne says
Our plants on our balcony needs water every day, we water at night because the water stays in the soil longer, if we watered in the morning, the sun would evaporate the water during the first hour!
Karen says
Looking as gorgeous as ever, especially w/that big joyful smile – despite the heat and your likely discomfort. I love that you flaunt your bump so proudly (as should be the case for all late stage pregnant woman!)
Oh, and that grilled peach is perfect….my late June favorite fruit!
Here’s to hoping you can replenish those hot, thirsty greens in your garden!
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Looks like a fun evening! Amazing how quickly the plants can get droopy!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
You look great Kath!
My plants are looking droopy too – and I just discovered that our garden hose somehow broke! Looks like I now have to water everything with tap water from inside! 😛
Living, Learning, Eating says
Aw, baby bumps are so cute! And I hate the heat, but kudos to you to surviving it (and while pregnant – I feel like I’d be SUCH a diva if it were hot and I was pregnant, since I’m already diva-ish about it now). Your town looks so idyllic and post card-y, like Bar Harbor!
Rita Parsons says
Aren’t pregnant women supposed to avoid eating fish?
KathEats says
No, not at all. Only raw/uncooked seafood. Fish are the best source of DHA + EPA omega-3 fatty acids – fish like salmon are highly recommended
Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See says
Summer peaches + gelato? Oh mannnn, that sounds cool 😉
Tracy says
I guess your sudden growth spurt might explain your fatigue this week!
Vidya says
Kath you look gorgeous! Way to go!! One suggestion about the fish…while I was preggo I read about pregnant women avoiding fish due to high mercury content. I might be wrong but please do check just in case.
I am a fairly new reader here and I must say I am HOOKED!! You are doing a great job on every front. Congrats!!
KathEats says
You just gotta know which ones to avoid –
Marlin
Orange roughy
Tilefish
Swordfish
Shark
Mackerel (king)
Tuna ( bigeye, Ahi)
Vidya says
Oh good to know. I feel bad that I avoided fish throughout my pregnancy though I live it z lot.
Vidya says
“Though I love it a lot”. Stupid spell check.. LOLZ.
Ashlee says
My belly totally took at 31-32 weeks as well. I still ate consistently, but it didn’t matter my belly got huge! You’re looking great, keep it up! So exciting!
Julia H. @ Going Gulia says
Dinner looks great! My best friend goes to UVA and I’ve visited her, so I know how good the restaurants there are…then every time you post about a restaurant, I want to go there when I visit her!
Kristin point says
My daughter always used to kick me there! She ended up having such big feet when she came out. You look adorable!
I loved fish when I was pregnant as well! My fiancée is a commercial fisherman so baby and I ate quite wel when I was preggers! I dont love freshwaterfish i prefer saltwater because its less fishy. I sure doI hope she likes fish when she starts to eat “real” food.
JennF says
This made me sad…my lemon verbana plant burned up to a crisp in this heat!!
