We have been blessed with a day of sunshine!
But we haven’t really been on the beach too much because there is huuuge wind, surf and riptides. We just passed high tide, so hopefully we’ll get out this afternoon.
The surf sounded like torrential rain last night!
I started the day with greek yogurt, berries, banana, Cville Cluster and sunflower butter
Then we did family exercise hour. It usually starts with one person proclaiming they’re going on a walk or run. A second person is usually convinced to join them for the company. Then since half the group will be gone, the other half decides to workout at this time too. We’re a family who exercises together and cocktails together ; )
I tried out this DVD that Erica Ziel sent me to review on BERF. I did 30 minutes of Pilates in 3 segments and it went by so fast!! I’ll have more to say about the DVD on BERF. I did have to improvise because I didn’t bring my exercise ball with me! But I was able to use water bottles for weights : )
I went down to the beach after for a walk, but there was no beach to walk on because of the tide! So I settled under my umbrella…for 10 seconds before it blew away.
Then I had no shade so 5 minutes later I just went back inside! I’m all about the beach, but I don’t like sitting in the sun.
I settled onto the balcony with a different umbrella for shade and enjoyed my book for an hour. Reading The Midwives Confession, which I’m enjoying a lot, but it’s not fabulous. And then THAT umbrella flew off the balcony – only this time I CAUGHT IT IN MID AIR! Bam!
We had lunch at 12:30 and pulled out all kinds of tastes and leftovers.
Cheddar bread, fruit, chips, pretzels, potato salad and hummus leaves. I wasn’t in the mood for a salad but the lettuce looked refreshing so these were the perfect solution.
I also tried the La Croix Coconut flavor and LOVED it!!!
Hoping to head here soon!

Your photos of the beach look absolutely amazing!! And that breakfast looked like the perfect way to start off the day 🙂 My family exercises together too – and it ends up happening just the way you described!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
I can almost hear the waves in those pictures! Such a shame the wind and tide are keeping from the beach…thank goodness there is the balcony with a view! Enjoy your afternoon!

I only like La Croix cold, otherwise it tastes stale.

Belly! Look at you, little mama! 😉 So sweet! And MAN I”m longing for the beach now… since I live about a stone’s throw away from it, I think that’ll have to be on the agenda this weekend. As usual, many thanks for the inspiration. 🙂

I’m so jealous of your beach trip! (Chicago beaches just aren’t the same as the real thing…)
And I’m going to have to try that coconut La Croix!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I love hearing the sound of waves crashing at night! So calming

Hope the weather gets better for you all. If not, enjoy your time off with movies, books, games, great food, and drinks—-and maybe a nap or two! Or go shopping! Surely there is an outlet mall nearby….with baby things!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
Oh Kath, I spent soooo much time sitting on that beach, boogie boarding, and watching sunrises and running. Thank you for your vacation pics!

As soon as I see a picture of the ocean, I instantly can smell it!

I like the picture with the ocean and the empty chairs… I think they’re empty? I checked with my magnifying glass…. That would make a good postcard!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
glad the sun came out for you!

I am in my family room presently looking out at the same body of water as you are – only I’m a couple of hundred miles north – in Nova Scotia.

I love sitting in the sun!! I hope you get to go down to the beach 🙂

I went to body pump this morning and the instructor was pregnant; I think around 6-7 months. It made me think of you and how you talk about you and your pregnant friends who still do body pump. I can’t imagine having even MORE weight on me, ha. But I guess it’s a gradual weight gain.
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
Ugh! I love the sound of the ocean (and the smell)! 🙂

The Coconut LaCroix is the best! I always intend to mix it with pineapple juice for a fun mocktail
(I’m not a big drinker), but I never get around to it 🙂
Maggie says
I HATE when my umbrella goes flying in the wind when I’m at the beach. And often I seem to be the only one it happens to and I’m chasing it before it hurts someone and everyone is staring!
Heidi Fendrick says
Looks like another wonderful day!!
I thought of you today, because it is my 26th birthday on the 26th!
