Theme song of the morning is the Brady Bunch’s Sunshine Day! I’m speaking at Karen’s Rotary club mid-day and have a few calls scheduled, hopefully to do while sitting on the porch. I keep seeing walkers go by our house down the street! I want to join them.
Breakfast was overnight oats made with a bunch of local VA strawberries, plus a new granola and sunflower butter.
I picked this up at yesterday’s market. I could have made it myself, but it’s always good to support those who put time into making things to sell (why I love Etsy so much!)
Crunch away! I’ve been low on granola for ages and it’s my favorite sprinkled topping.
Chestnut tea is back! It’s by Adagio and was a fall favorite!
One week till the beach!!!

Have been inspired in reading the katheats to put nut butter in my oatmeal. Currently we have Skippy Natural, which seems to have a decent ingredient list, but uses palm oil derived from the pulp. Any insight on the health benefits of that?
KathEats says
Nutritionally I think it’s fine, but there are environmental concerns, so a peanut butter without it would be a better choice to purchase long term
Lace @ Real Food Quest says
Thanks! I will take a look into the environmental aspects. Appreciate the direction!
Rebecca @ Blueberry Smiles says
Looks like great granola!
Catalina @ Cake with Love says

hey kath….i am wanting to make the switch from coffee to tea…just a change. i do need caffinated tea. since i am not a tea fan…..can you reccomend some of your favorites. seems like adagio is always mentioned. let me know what flavors and brand i should order. thanks and love your blog!
KathEats says
I really like all the flavored ones at Adagio – Pumpkin Ice Cream (found in the blends), Chestnut, Candy Cane Black tea. They are better for fall/winter though just in terms of flavors. I haven’t really found a favorite summer tea yet.
Kelsey says
I love it when you use bright yellow linens in the morning! They’re such a cheery way to start the day!
Cait's Plate says
I agree – I always like to make an effort to support local sellers as well. And sometimes it’s nice just to have something ready and made for you 🙂
So funny you went with overnight oats today because I was just thinking to myself last night how I hadn’t had it in a while…I think I ate it so much over the winter I made myself sick of it! Your bowl of it may have just brought my craving back.
Have a good talk today!
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
I agree about the granola – I usually make my own, but when I don’t, I prefer to buy locally made granolas that people put a little of their hearts into 🙂
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Cute bowl! Whenever I happen to buy a house, I want it to have a porch like yours (for sitting, and for blog photography of course!)
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Your breakfast is so sunshine-y and happy this morning. 🙂

We must be going to the beach at about the same time! We’re leaving next Saturday to go to the Outer Banks of North Carolina 🙂 I love going this time of year because the kids are still in school (we homeschool) so we basically have a very quiet beach to ourselves! And hey, you can dig a hole in the sand and lay on your tummy too 🙂
KathEats says
LOVE the Outer Banks. I actually wanted to go there, but we couldn’t find a house that fit our needs and budget. We’re going to Carolina Beach!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I’m so jealous of everyone’s beach vacations! I’m headed to Argentina in a couple of weeks and it can’t get here fast enough!

I am also counting down the days…one more until the long weekend (celebrating Queen Victoria’s birthday on Monday) and I am off to bike the wineries of the beautiful Niagara region! I so need to make some granola…can you put up a link to the one you made just a while back…would love to try it!
KathEats says
It’s on my Recipage
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
it’s a sunshiney morning here as well – the best kind! Overnight oats are finally ready to make their return to my mornings now that it’s warming up 🙂
Chelsea @ Designs on Dinner says
Kath–do you ever drink looseleaf tea? The flavor is fabulous!
KathEats says
Yup – about half the time
Khushboo says
This tea company sounds fab- such delicious flavors!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
I think this may be the first summer that we DON’T go to the beach- the mountains seem to win over every time. We usually go to Bethany and the Delaware beaches (which are nice) but I’d like to take a trip back down south to VA beach or Outer Banks again sometime!

I was wondering if you had a sunscreen that you recommended. My family has tried several different kinds, but they all seem to stain our clothes. Thank you!
KathEats says
I actually was JUST researching this the other day. I was looking for a sunscreen that was on the Skin Deep recommended list AND the cheapest cost per ounce and the only I ended up buying was Coppertone’s Water Babies SPF 50 in a two pack from Amazon. It came out to $1/ounce which was much, much less than some of the more high end brands. A good compromise for me.

This is the one I got (it was more expensive by a few dollars at my local CVS unfortunately)

the obx was a place i had always wanted to vacation with my family as well. too pricey though for what we want and need. have you ever checked out the sobx? they are much more wallet friendly and amazing. less people too! this will be our fifth yr going! we generally stay in the vicinity of emerald isle.
KathEats says
Yeah, a little far of a drive for us all 🙁

What a great song of the day…I believe that around 3:00pm I carried out the next line “I think I’ll go for a walk outside now” 🙂
