I feel guilty writing this, but it’s an absolutely gorgeous morning here. The storm has left Virginia – and I hope those of you in the Northeast are safe!
Matt and I slept late and made yogurt bowls for breakfast
Plain yogurt, berries, apricot, Fannetastic Oat Puff ball crumbled, granola, sunflower butter
In lieu of hot tea, I drank the dew off of this leaf
Hope you’re safe and sound this morning
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
It’s not quite sunny here yet but the storm has definitely left the building. Have a great day OFF!
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance says
Yogurt bowls are the perfect breakfast for a post-Irene celebration. Glad you stayed safe, Kath!
Errign says
I live in Asheville currently and it’s nice there but it figures that this is the weekend I came home to central NH and now I’m stuck here until TUESDAY evening! It’s just raining and a little windy…nothing serious. Very surprised all the airports are closed.
Baking N Books says
I heard that it didn’t hit areas as hard as expected? Do you stir your bowls together after or just eat it all separate?!
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
I’m glad the storm passed for you- I hope everyone else is safe!
Khushboo says
Lucky you about the weather- the rainstorms here have been nonstop since Friday :-/

Your breakfast looks delicious! I have to start making pretty yogurt bowls for breakfast!!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
I felt the same way yesterday. The weather was amazing, but I knew my family and friends in the northern east coast were getting slammed with horrible weather. I’m glad you guys started your day relaxed and with great weather. I hope you both have an incredible day Kath!
Christine (The Raw Project) says
The yogurt bowl is gorgeous!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
I have to agree, it is beautiful here in DC today. I’m about to go for a run as I LOVE the weather after a hurricane. It’s just fun feeling the breeze and seeing the fluffy clouds.
Alaina says
We’re getting it up here in MA but it hasn’t been too too bad. It’s raining a lot and windy at times but *knock on wood* we still have our power. I hoping the tail end of it is making its way out.
Jennifer says
We had a very uneventful night here in PA and I’m very grateful for that. It got a little scary last night with all the constant tornado warnings but other than that things are normal. Those are huge dew drops on that leaf. What a great photo! Enjoy your day off. 🙂
Stephanie @ StephSnacks says
I live right outside of Manhattan and we are currently only experiencing light rain.. thank goodness!
Simply Life says

Hi Kath! I have been an avid blog reader of yours for awhile now and have a question. I’ve recently been really addicted to these cups of oatmeal called “Umpqua Oats” that come in all sorts of flavors and they’re super easy- you just put some boiling water in and voila, you have a cup of delicious oatmeal. However, they seem to have alot of added sugar (evaporated cane juice)- about 20 grams. I’m starting to feel really guilty eating them but they’re SO good. I’m also super active so I’m wondering if it really matters? What are your thoughts on this?
KathEats says
My opinion is 50/50. I’d normally say to use them as a treat, but if they’re you’re favorite then I’d just be sure not to add any additional sugar in the form of jam or maple syrup and call it a day
Alexia (Dimple Snatcher) says
20 grams of sugar sounds like alot!!
Katherine says
I know it does! It’s sucanat sugar which is a little healthier at least. I try to stay really healthy too which is why I’m wondering if I should continue to eat them or not. They have chia seeds, flax seeds and dried fruit, so the premise behind them is pretty healthy..
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Jealous! The rain is non stop and currently pouring into my basement, ruining my home gym as I wait for my husband to return from Home Depot with a hose for a sump pump!
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
It’s a perfect late summer morning here too! Love the yogurt bowl… all that fruit looks so good! It’s been forever since I’ve had apricots and I definitely need to find them the next time I go shopping. 🙂
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says

Kara says
I’m in California so we’re not experiencing any strange weather but my heart goes out to everyone who is living on the east coast! Stay safe!! Your yogurt bowl looks delish. I’ve always been a fan of your blog, thanks so much for transforming by boring, preservative-laden cereal into exciting banana oatmeal mornings! Now my sister and mom have it everyday as well! <3

the storm left south jersey early this morning. once i fell asleep, i basically slept through all of it. waiting for the second round of “heavy rain” this afternoon, and trying to dry out our basement in the meantime.
it usually looks beautiful after a storm… i don’t know if it’s always absolutely gorgeous, but maybe compared to the destruction, and the storm being over, feeling thankful makes everything look better.
Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) says
Happy to hear you and Matt and everyone are safe and sound.
What a lovely breakfast to celebrate the passing of the storm!
