^^What is Mazen’s tongue doing here!?!
Here’s a little peek into our lives from yesterday : )
I had overnight oats made with cinnamon and blueberries for breakfast. Blueberries are so darn good right now!
I took Mazey to camp, which is a half day this week. I worked on a Quaker recipe post for August (a tropical smoothie bowl that I can’t wait to share!) all morning.
For lunch, Thomas surprised us with smoked salmon bagels from Bodos!
I picked Mazen up after lunch and we went swimming at the Waterpark.
And let me tell you about my new pool bag!
My mom has a Scout bag as her beach bag and had me eyeing them while we were on Bald Head. These bags are all the rage on the island, but they were out of the largest version with all the pockets that I wanted in the shop there, so I had to order mine on Amazon when I got home. It’s the Scout – The BJ bag, and it’s been so great to tote to the pool.
In addition to the large main pocket, it has two looser pockets on the front and two tighter pockets on the back. I keep our sunscreens on one side and goggles on the other, so they are all easy to reach.
The main area easily fits 2-3 towels, snacks, pool toys and water bottles. There’s a tiny zip pocket for things that need safe keeping, and I love that the whole top can zip closed too.
I love that the back pockets are tighter, so things don’t slide out. I keep my Kindle and phone tucked in these! (Kindle case is also from Amazon!)
These bags are lightweight, durable, water resistant, and easy to clean. And they come in lots of colors and patterns! I am a huge fan.
I went to get the bag out of my trunk and Gussie hopped in! And then he wouldn’t get out. He definitely wanted to go for a ride. Mazen and I were cracking up at him!
We had this dinner of roasted potatoes, lemon-garlic asparagus, and shrimp. Greek yogurt for potato dipping!
Do you have a pool bag that you love? I have always loved bags with lots of pockets : )
And for real this time, HAPPY WEEKEND!

Mazen has such a nice tan 🙂 I don’t have a go to but prefer lots of pockets in my pool bag!
Linda @ the Fitty says
Speaking of tan, I’m starting to get a sock tan, a running shorts tan, and a sport brought an! Any other Runners out there that can relate?

My kids got these totes from Lands End for Xmas and they are awesome. https://www.landsend.com/products/print-canvas-tote-collection/id_299725?sku_0=::KS7 They are canvas, with three interior pockets on one side and an extra large pocket on the other. There are 2 exterior pockets and she got their names on them. They’ve held up really well too. My family is getting them as presents this year :).

Those are really cute!

Mmm, now I want a bagel, that looks delicious 🙂

So did you cave and take Gus on a ride? 🙂 I had a dog growing up that LOVED car rides. If we left the car door open we would find her just sitting in the car patiently waiting to go on a ride.
KathEats says
Haha no he eventually came out ?
Barbara Younger says
Ah, You should have taken Gus for a ride. Love the new bag!
Kelli @ Hungry Hobby says
I don’t have a pool bag right now because we mostly swim at home and don’t live anywhere near the beach, so no need. I’ve never thought of using Greek yogurt just for dipping… I usually go straight for ketchup every time, I will definitely try that! Have a great weekend!

We had a golden retriever who use to pull the ‘Gus maneuver’. We ended up going for a drive around the block to make him happy.
I miss him & those rides!

I bought the Target pool/beach bag and love it (it’s called the “poptimism”) – especially for $10!
Jeanie says
I don’t have a pool bag because my pool days are far behind me. I just wanted to comment on Gus. When you said he jumped in the trunk and wanted a ride, I thought, OMG, don’t tell me these people let their dog ride in the trunk! I was ready to send a nasty comment. Thank goodness that was straightened out with a photo.
KathEats says
Haha. Yes an open and breathable trunk with air conditioning!

Ahh! I have the same Scout bag (in a different print) that I got a few years ago for our weekends/weeks at the Jersey Shore. It is literally the best. Sand doesn’t even stick to it and it has so much room. And it’s holding up so well, no wear and tear at all – so definitely worth the price. Hope it has a long life for you too!
KathEats says
So glad to hear it!

I was eyeing the Scout bags when we were on Bald Head last week and trying to decide why I need one! I’m sure I will be adding one to my tote collection as they are beautiful. I have a bag from http://lucyjanetotes.com/ that I love. You can kind of design your own but I just went to her website and she is taking a break right now. I know that she just moved last week to Dallas so perhaps she will be back in business as soon as she gets her family settled.
KathEats says
So cool you were on BHI too! Those totes are great!

We are a family of five (!!!) now, so we have upgraded to this bag: https://www.saltwatercanvas.com/collections/whale-bags
We can fit our goggles and diving sticks, five towels (!), and a few magazines in the main part and all of the outside pockets are great for sunscreen, etc. There is a zipper compartment in the inside as well as a hook for your keys! The mesh is wonderful in case anything is wet and at the beach you can just shake out the sand! We have the smaller version, too (the dolphin) and it’s great for when just a couple of us head out!
KathEats says
I have that one too!! I liked it a lot, but it was a major problem at the beach with sand getting in. It didn’t fall through the mesh like I thought it would. And I thought the pockets were a little too small, but overall, a great bag for a few years!
Nathalie says
Your overnight oats look delicious, I might have to switch them for my usual cooked banana oatmeal once in a while!
Also love that picture of Gus wanting to go for a ride 🙂
Jennifer Valdes says
Mazen is so tan and his hair even looks lighter. He is enjoying his summer. 🙂
It looks like he’s flipping his tongue in that first picture. One of my kids can do that but no one else in the family can. Funny.
I love that pool bag. I’m going to check that out. I love bags with lots of pockets, too. Plus, a zip close top is a must.
Hannah says
Those sunglasses are so flattering! Would you mind sharing where they are from? Thanks!
KathEats says
Thanks! They are these Suncloud ones. I love them because they are polarized and nice, but not so expensive that I’d cry if I lost them.
Hannah Haslam says
Thank you! I have a pair of sunclouds and I love them – although they are bright green so I’m looking for a more neutral pair too.
