I have to admit, guys, I’ve had a tough day eating-wise. I’ve been so tempted by the Christmas cookies all around, and I blame it all on my splurge on Saturday! It’s like I broke the barrier and now I’m having a hard time getting back in my groove. I’m hoping I’ll snap out of it tomorrow.
Snack
This afternoon my colleague got a gift of homemade Christmas tree cookies. I had half of one – chewy and delicious!
Then I had a Think Organic Chocolate Coconut bar. I LOVE these bars – they are just fruit and nuts and are surprisingly filling and satisfying. I probably didn’t even need this at 3:30 but I ate it anyway.
And THEN I had a small Christmas cookie (a thin wafer thing) just before leaving work.
Cocktail Hour
I had absolutely no plans to drink tonight, but my mother in law dropped off an open bottle of wine that she didn’t like. Well I LOVED it so I had 4 oz while cooking dinner. It couldn’t go to waste!
Dinner
Eh. This dinner wasn’t that great. Chicken breast sauteed in sesame oil with broccoli, brown rice, red pepper flakes, lemon and ginger. It was boring. Probably didn’t help my eating today!
Total dinner calories: 342.
With wine: 434.
Dessert!
I did NOT need dessert tonight, but I had TWO bourbon balls! C’mon, Kath!

Recap
Total Monday calories: ~1850.
-522 through workout and lunch walk
= net of 1326.
I need to drink a big glass of water and go get in bed to read!
Thoughts
Normally, I wouldn’t worry about dessert and wine on a weeknight, but after the higher-than-normal weekend and the office party tomorrow night and the office foosball tourney (with pizza and beer) on Thursday and the sure-to-be-higher-than-normal Christmas week coming up, I need to keep a close eye on my calories and make sure I’m putting 100% good foods in my body.
However, if I do gain a pound – or even two – I can have them back off in a month. Like I said earlier, my weight is all in my control. So it’s not the end of the world, but if I can make it through with minimal gain, I’ll be better off – for my weight AND my health.
Merry Christmas All! Whew.

Just remember that you're stronger then any of those annoying old sugar cravings!
The thing I hate about sugar is that the more you eat them, the more you crave them. :-/ Last week I didn't eat any sweets, and felt great. This week I ate a gingerbread man on Sunday and can't stop craving sweets now. Ugh…
The nice part is that exercise can help. Whenever I feel I can't give in, I go for a walk instead. AND, if I do decide to have a sweet, I make sure I exercise a little more to keep my eating patterns in balance (and avoid the sneaky weight gain that the holidays like to spring.)
Don't feel too bad though! At least you limited the intake, and tomorrow is a fresh new day! A great breakfast in the morning is always a great way to continue your healthy eating pattern. 🙂

You are not alone. Cookies are too fantastic to pass up. 🙂
Keep up the good work!

Trust me, you didn't do too bad. Today I licked the frosting off two cupcakes someone brought into work! I love the fact that you post everything and it makes you so much more relatable! We all struggle to eat well around the holidays. I figure that life is about enjoying food as well, so I try not to obsess about it too much.

Kath, this is why we all love your blog so much. We can actually relate to the food struggles! Thank you very much for that. Also, I have to thank you because it was so cold out this morning and my bed/husband were so warm, but I though "Kath is out of bed and probably already at the gym" and it was my motivation to get up.

Haha – great Allison!!! I was there!
Thanks for all of your support!
Sarah, you are right about the sugar cravings. I didn't add any maple syrup to my pancake today. Yesterday I put some brown sugar in my oatmeal – I wonder if that was the trigger of it all!?
