Downtown was HOPPIN’ today!! It felt like a street fair with smells of hot dogs and deep fryers wafting through the 80* breeze. If I had had any money on my body, I might have bought one of those hot dogs! But alas, I was on my way to Body Pump Express instead.
Naked shoulders on my way home!!! It’s that warm : )
For lunch I made a plate of goodies –
A slice of Irish Soda Bread baked this morning that I picked up from the bakery – with a little butter melted on top.
Plus grapes and a string cheese! I bought these to add an easy 7g of protein to my days.
AND ———- WHAT THE!? Broccoli!!! I had a craving for the Lemon Tahini salad dressing at Lu-e-g’s used to serve in Hillsborough when I was little. The salad came with sunflower seeds and was amazing. I had some Whole Foods lemon hummus in my fridge and thinned it out with lemon juice to make a dressing. I was going to put it on some kale, but then I found this broccoli that Karen’s friend Tracy gave us from her CSA. I microwaved it for a few seconds and doused it in the dressing. It tasted delicious!
Must be that St. Patty’s is approaching that the green made its way into my lunch : )
Just came back from a quick walk with Faith. I have to race to shower and am double booked tonight with a meet n greet and my book club!
Hap-py Spring!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Sounds like you’re having a very productive day! I think the street fair would have won me over. I’m thrilled with 65 degrees in Pittsburgh today!

I am SO going to Great Harvest to get some Irish Soda bread! YUM!
Jackie says
I got some last weekend – YUM is right!
Cm @ Lazy Healthy says
When I lived in the UK I used to LIVE off of Irish soda bread. So good.
Brid says
It’s St. Paddy’s no self respecting Irish person would ever say St Patty’s, St Patrick was by all reports a man Patty is a diminutive for a girls name.

That Irish soda bread looks AMAZING! And I am SO jealous of your warm weather!!!

Holy bananas this post makes me so happy to that I’m gonna be HOME IN CVILLE this weekend. My fiancé said that it’s supposed to be in the 70s and nice…. I cannot wait. If you go out walking/running/otherwise and see a petite blonde runner with a monster ponytail that gives you shout-out, it is most likely me. I plan on frolicking the whole time with the boy. Glory.
God I love that place. Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you.
KathEats says
I’ll be at the beach!! But have fun – the weather is great right now!
Susie says
No joke I’m pretty certain that every time I’ve been in Cville since I started reading your blog you’ve been out of town. It’s like you’re scared of me lol.
But have fun at the beach–both are pretty good options.
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I think hot dogs are so incredibly gross until I smell them outside on the street. Isn’t that weird? How a nasty hot dog cart in NYC can smell good to me I’ll never understand! haha
Björg says
I love when the streets become so alive when it gets warm 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
that broccoli in the sauce looks so good! Glad you’re having a good day with some heat outside!
Kristen @ Change of Pace says
You live in such a beautiful town! I’m loving the weather right now 🙂

I’m hoping to score some raisin-less Irish soda bread this Sat at my local GH. What is with pregnancy and hotdog cravings? I went through a corndog phase.
I’m currently loving a broccoli slaw and hummus wrap that I sampled at Trader Joe’s yesterday. They mix the broccoli slaw with the Greek feta dressing. OMG, so delish! That dressing totally hits the spot for the creamy dressings I’ve been craving. None of these items were on my list when I was there yesterday, but I bought all the components. I think it’s the first time I’ve had hummus since I got pregnant!
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
Don’t you love the warmer weather?! I’ve always wanted to try body pump but they don’t offer it near me :/
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
It’s warmer there than it is in San Diego. 60F here, sunny, but breezy and the wind is CHILLY.
You’re a blogging machine…I have 3 posts from you in like…a half hour!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
I’m about to head out for a little run and interval workout since it’s so pretty! I’m actually excited to get sweating outside! Have fun tonight!

Ooooh I must re-copy the broccoli-tahini salad! That combination sounds wonderful!!
It’s 80 up here in Maryland and I am LOVING it. I’m hoping that it sticks around or the weekend so that I can actually get outside and enjoy it!

Zoe @ loseweightandgainhealth says
That bread looks incredible. I want some now!!!! Loving that broccoli too.
Katie @ Happy Figs says
When I was pregnant with my babies I always gravitated towards green foods. My mom always told us growing that your body craves what it needs so I always figured that I must have needed some gold old fashion iron when I was pregnant.
Steamed broccoli is an all time favorite of mine with just a little bit of salt, pepper and butter… OMG heaven. I also love it with a bit of the green goddess Salad dressing from Annies Naturals.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
It’s beautiful here too! Must. get.out.for.a.walk!! Hah. Have a good night! What BOOK are you all discussing??
Angel7 says
I cannot believe that it was that warm that you did not have to wear short or long sleeves. I heard that the weather here is supposed to be in the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s for the next week with only two days in the 40’s–HOORAY!!!

That looks like broccolini not broccoli but it’s hard to tell from the angle of the photo. Did it taste like broccoli?
KathEats says
Actually I think it was a mix of both
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
I usually get some Irish Soda Bread from my local GH every year but I forgot this year.. darn! But NONE compares to the soda bread IN Ireland.. it’s practically life changing.
Jan says
This has nothing to do with this post…..but, I just received the Cville Cluster Granola….OMG they are soooooo yummy!!!!!!!!!! Since I ordered three bags, I was wondering how I would store the other two bags? Can I freeze them? I doubt that I’ll get to that point, but I just wanted to know. Can’t wait till they go on sale again on Open Sky. Thanks
KathEats says
Hey Jan! Glad you like it 🙂 They should last a month or so in your pantry (unopened) but if you intend to eat them later, you can freeze it.
Dena @ 40 Fit in the Mitt says
I love the plate you had your snack on, so pretty.
Lesley Zinn says
Hi Kath, Really enjoy your blog and have loved following along with baby’s progress. I am too am pregnant 21 wk 3 days today. I was told to stay away from hot dogs (along with other prepared deli meats due to the risk of listeria) during pregnancy, so naturally I have had the worst craving for one for weeks! I of course do not mean to scare you, but was this not one of the things your doctor told you to avoid?
KathEats says
Yeah it was, another reason why I didn’t have one. But I think they are fine if you heat them to steaming
Lesley Zinn says
Oh yes- that would make sense, most of us wouldnt eat a hot dog raw 🙂 I might just need to ask my doctor about that- the craving has only gotten worse 🙂
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
OH MY!! It’s IRISH SODA BREAD TIME! I almost forgot!! 🙂
Last year I couldn’t find any in stores (it was my mistake for not looking until St Patty’s day) and then when I DID find some…it was moldy. 🙁
Stacy @ Say It With Sprinkles says

Wow — 80’s! We were nearly 70 yesterday so no complaints here, since we’re usually still under many many inches of snow…I had bare arms and thought the world had turned upside down 🙂 Perfect lunch in my book. Good idea with the humus/dressing. Thanks!
