We haven’t quite lived four seasons in this house. But I think I’m going to go ahead declare it a Spring House.
Some houses shine in the summer with their modern, cool feel or screened in porches; others are so cozy with their fireplaces and Christmas décor.
This house, with its pastel walls, white trim and well-placed windows and doors, shines in spring.
I woke up to sunshine pouring onto my face this morning, the windows open and birds chirping. Some might find that annoying, but I think it’s the sun teasing me for all the days I wondered where she was.
Celebratory bowl of oats
In all its deliciousness:
- 1/3 cup oats, milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1/2 tbsp ground flax
- 1/2 banana
- Pinch salt
- Cinnamon
- 2 tbsp cooked wheatberries, stirred in at end
- 2 tbsp Banana Mango drinkable yogurt, stirred in at end
- Toppings: Brown rice crispy cereal + coconut + TJ’s sunflower butter
Rooibos – second chance. Better than the first.
More magical pentagons!

you do have such a beautiful house kath…….now you have me thinking of what type of season my house it 🙂
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Hour looks so nice and clean! I need to get on my spring cleaning!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
How exciting about the oven — I still can’t get that picture of the oven pieces out of my head! Hilarious.
We definitely have a “winter” house — it looks best with the blinds open so you can see the snow, and we have lots of “cabin” type things in our house which look best around Christmas!
stacey (the home-cooked vegan) says
I love this spring weather! Looks like you had a fun-filled weekend 🙂
I have to say- you guys really take care of your rental property! Jasons grandfather rents houses to people and they almost ALWAYS destroy them in some way. I’m sure your land lord appreciates having nice occupants! 😉
jaclyn@lifeoftodayslady says
Those pictures of your house are amazing!!!! Definitely a spring house! I love all of the colors. Breakfast looks good too 🙂
Joanne says
Such a happy, bright post. I prefer looking at your warm sunshine and Spring house rather than the clouds and rain outside my window.
Enjoy the day!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Spring is LONG overdue around here. Your bright colors and natural light definitely make your house Spring-y!
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
Your house really is so pretty – very clean and fresh looking! I love it 🙂

Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) says
Such a fresh, springy house- love it! Makes me smile 🙂
But also makes me wonder what my house is… I’m thinking FALL!
Grace says
I can’t wait to own a home. Still in my early twenties so renting an apartment ’til I get settled. It’s a dream in the next few years and a spring house sounds like my dream~
Colleen (What's Baking in the Barbershop) says
A spring house! What a fun perspective to take on a home. I’d never thought about houses/homes in that way, but it’s so true. Fall is my favorite season, so someday when I’m settled and buy a home, maybe I’ll look for one with a fall-feel. 🙂 Hope all goes well with the bakery this week!
Faith @ lovelyascharged says
That lavender paint is absolutely stunning! I can’t wait until I actually *own* my place and can paint the walls something other than a bland shade of beige!
val @ lots of dishes says
Yes! It is finally Spring in Minneapolis too, I’m just hoping it stays around. For you too!!
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
My house is an autumn house.
It has lots of warm browns and reds and oranges and greens that really remind me of autumn.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Ooh I love the little recap icons at the bottom. This post is screaming Spring!! You have a gorgeous house Kath – so bright and airy. Good luck with the oven installation – hope it all goes smoothly!

Ovening!! Fairly important for a bakery indeed. Hope it all goes off without a hitch!
Valerie @ City|Life|Eats says
I am now wondering if the seasons thing applies to apartments. Hmmm.
Loved your Easter photos 🙂
shannon (the daily balance) says
so interesting! I haven’t lived in my house for the spring or summer, so I think by default I consider it a fall/winter house — it’ll be interesting to see how/if my opinion changes!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
I wish I had some of your sunshine!!! I have to agree that you house definitely looks like a Spring home. All the pictures make it look so cheery!
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
what a beautiful celebration of your house!
I can’t wait to have a house instead of an apartment even if we’re renting! 😛
Have a great week! 🙂
Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) says
I love your description of your house. So beautiful! My house is definitely an autumn house. Cozy. Warm (both with colors and temperature, thanks to the fire place!) And very New England.
Glad you had such a lovely weekend! And what a fabulous way to wake up in the morning! 😀
Mom says
Fun you made the sun a girl. I’ve had a picture book idea for a while about a lady sun. Maybe this will spur me to write it!
Chelsea says
I love waking up with the sunshine on my face! I think having East facing widows in the bedoom is very important. I love the colors on your walls, pastels are so happy 🙂

Ashley @ Feeding Ashley says
Your house is so beautiful and very springish. I’m not sure what my house is.
What is that pretty orb in the first picture? Is it a light fixture or an ornament?
KathEats says
I think it’s just decorative?!
Kelly (meatless with a man) says
Rooibos is one of my FAVORITE teas! There is a vanilla red variety at my favorite coffee shop that is to die for!
Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
Your house is lovely! And that bowl of oats look especially delicious! Mmm 🙂
Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing says
Spring at last, spring at last! 🙂
MonsteRawr says
We’ve got the warm weather of spring, but those clouds and rain are overstaying their welcome! I can’t wait until I can open everything up too and get some fresh air!
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
Your house is so beautiful! Seasons don’t exist here, but I love the way our house looks decorated for autumn 🙂

i think my house is a summer one – it stays nice and cool!
Angel7 says
I love spring! I cannot wait to be able to open the windows, and let the fresh air cleanse the house from the winter months.
I bet you both cannot wait until the Grand Opening of Great Harvest Bread, because then there will be no more worries about installations, painting, etc.–it will be all about the bread 🙂

Jumanah @ Healthy Living in the Middle East says
You have one of the most beautiful houses!
I also love when the sun wakes me up in the mornings! Not annoying at all- love it!
Ellie @ The Mommyist says
Your house really does look beautiful in the spring light.
Paige @Running Around Normal says
Hm, I’ve never really thought of houses like that! I guess my house would be a summer house with its open and flowy design and hardwood and tile floor combo.
Rachel @ The Avid Appetite says
There is nothing like the first hint of spring! Luckily we got to enjoy some sunshine on Easter Sunday…yet it’s back to gloom and gray today in NYC 🙁 Enjoy the great weather!
Angela (Oh She Glows) says
We don’t have curtains on our windows and I LOVE waking up to the sun. We don’t have anyone in our backyard (just woods) so we dont have a need for curtains anyways. There is nothing better than waking up to sun and birds. I can’t wait til its warm enough to open the windows here.
I think our house is a summer & fall house because the forest really glows. I would say winter but I hate winter so that is out!
Andrea @ The Skinny Chronicles says
I love all your paint colors! They are very fabulous…and you’re right…quite springy in the best way possible.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Waking up to sunshine and birds is my ideal way of waking up! It always puts me in such a great mood for the day.
Sarah says
Loved reading your weekend posts! You did some great things.
I also need to try sunflower butter. I wish they had little sample packets of it like they do almond butter. I just can’t find it anywhere.
Elizabeth, blogger for SunButter says
Hi Sarah,
Yeah, isn’t this the most lovely blog?!
Hope you don’t mind that I chime in, but since I blog for the SunButter brand of sunflower butter, I came across your comment and just thought I’d let you know it does come in to-go packs. If you’re interested, you can find out where to find ’em here: http://bit.ly/b37krw
Take care and enjoy.
Claire says
Oh, this morning was so beautiful wasn’t it?? I could tell it was going to get hot but there was a crispness to the air. I took my dog Sophie for a walk on the dt mall and she just loved it. Too bad I have to spend the rest of the day inside my office… 🙁
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Oh I love the purple walls! P.s. those little pics with links to posts are way cool. Nicely done 🙂
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I could actually SMELL spring in your pictures!
Rachel says
Your house is very pretty and looks so nice with all the sun shining in! With that said, I could never live in a house like that.. I am a very strange person who does not like a lot of light in my house. I love it if I’m outside, but inside I really don’t like it. I think because too much of it gives me migraines.. I know, I’m weird. But I do think your house is beautiful!
Caroline @ French Ponytail says
Tim and I discovered the hard way this weekend that our Brooklyn apartment is potentially NOT a spring/summer apartment, in that no matter how many windows are open, it seems to get about one million degrees hotter and stuffier than the air outside.
Dee says
your house is so pretty! and oh my goodness, those bowl of oats are too!
Allison @ Happy Tales says
Aw, this post brought a smile to my face. I love how you’ve declared your house having a “springy” personality. I can’t wait to own my own home one day… as I’m sure you feel the same way!
Melissa @ Journey to Marvelous says
Hooray for sunshine! We haven’t had a lot of sunny mornings in California lately either…gotta enjoy it on days we can!

Kath-
did you cook the oats or was this a recipe that sat in the fridge overnight and them blended?
KathEats says
These were cooked, whipped banana style
Alex says
I LOVE Rooibos tea! I spent 2 months in South Africa and Rooibos is what we drank for our daily tea-time. Drinking it brings back so many memories… Looks like I’m going to have to get me some soon!
