We’re headed to Bald Head Island for spring break. Here’s the breakdown : )
Before we knew Mazen would be going back to school face-to-face we scheduled an extended spring break at my parents’ house on Bald Head Island.
Thus, the timing is poor, but we are still looking forward to doing some school lessons on marsh habitats with this view:
Our Company
Thomas’s parents have never been to the island, so they are joining us for the first portion. Thomas and his dad will be working remotely for part of the day, but they planned project start and ends around the week.
After Thomas’s parents leave, my family will be joining us for Easter!
KERF Becomes A Travel Blog
I debated how to plan for spring break from an editorial standpoint. I have been having an internal battle with myself for a long time now about what direction to take with KERF. You have probably noticed that I’ve taken a step back in terms of posting schedule. I want to “just” write about life, and I want to work ahead. I can’t do both.
But for this trip, my goal is to blog in the moment, old school style. Since we are traveling with kids, I don’t know exactly how that approach will fit into my day, but my hope is to do a daily recap of meals and photos, like the olden times. Travel posts are my favorite to write after all!
So stay tuned!

I love travel posts! Even though I’ll probably never go to most of the places I read about, it’s still fun to imagine.

yessssss virtual spring break! (I have to say, the title of the post made me a little anxious before I read further; I was like, omg, are they all okay?1!) I miss traveling so much, but I may miss my family more – so happy you’re able to do both soon. I’m actually heading home for Easter because my parents are vaccinated, my siblings are vaccinated, and I get my second shot next week! I never thought I’d be so excited to get a shot *insert cry laughing emoji here* but if that means vacations (and trips – they are different!) back on the table, I’ll do it. Are things returning to normalcy for y’all, too — and are things on Bald Head open again? I’m so curious about other places because…I have barely left my apartment in a year. Can’t wait to go on Spring Break “with” y’all next week — safe travels!
