^^Flashback to beach week Mazen 2014!
I was talking to my friend Lauren one warm day when the sun came out after a series of gross, cloudy days and I commented that I felt like I had 1,000 pounds lifted off of my shoulders. “We sure are solar powered, aren’t we?” she said. 100%, yes, totally agree. I NEED sunshine. Vitamin D pills don’t cut it. Sometimes I really wonder why I don’t live in south Florida or the Caribbean or southern California (because they are insanely expensive and/or far from family and friends, but still…) At the very least I need to visit these places in the winter if possible. The good news is I am going somewhere warm soon!!
We have lucked out with some really nice mild weather lately, and that makes me worried that a super blizzard is just around the corner.
Breakfast English muffin with egg, cheese and jam. Plus grapefruit.
Lunch kale with cranberries, ricotta cheese, and pita chips.
Thomas owns a soda stream that has ended up at my house, and I am using it ALL THE TIME! Love the convenience and that I am putting less cans in the recycling.
For dinner – fresh pasta with kale, ricotta and garlicky bread crumbs.
I made it to a hot yoga class at Elements last week, and that warmed me up from the core : )

Oh my gosh, I HAVE to have sun! This time of year gets very difficult for me. It will be warmer where I live today so I am going to make a point to go outside for a walk. It can go the opposite way though. I have a friend who lives in Florida and gets depressed when it’s hot and sunny for too long. She says she feels normal when it is cloudy and raining.

Haha! Maybe the solution is just varied weather?

When I saw your headline, I thought you might be getting solar panels, LOL! I’m super interested in getting them.
Hang in there. Winter won’t last forever and soon we’ll be complaining about the heat!

Where are you going!? i’m going to orlando in March to see Harry Potter World!!
I also just joined Core Power Yoga. Hot yoga all the time now!!!

I agree!! Solar powered girl here! And I live in a part of LA which is absurdly pricey but to me the amazing year round weather and beach proximity are worth having to raise 4 kids in a 3 bedroom 1800 sq ft house ?? high of 69 degrees and sunny today!

Jealous! If I didn’t have such great family and friends in the mid Atlantic, I would totally sacrifice space for gorgeous weather.

As someone from South Florida living in Chicago, I feel your pain. I am so very solar powered! Winter blues are so real. We had EIGHT DAYS with not a single ounce of sunshine. Yesterday morning the sun peeked out and I about cried. It was still 25 degrees out but I loved every second of feeling the sunshine on my skin. I can’t wait to visit my family in April so I can refuel.

Jealous of your upcoming trip! Can’t wait to see where you go! Have fun 🙂

Counting down the weeks to our vacay to ST Lucia! I hear ya!

I agree the sun is essential to my happiness. How do you like the SodaStream. My sister loves her and makes seltzer on the daily. I think I need one in my life. My plan is to move to St. Thomas. Sun, sand and my fulfilling career (at St Thomas University).
KathEats says
LOVE the SodaStream! Except when my tank ran out of gas and I had to go without for a few days : ) But that’s a minor bump to how nice it is

I feel your pain! I love the sun, too. I’m from Jersey, so we spend a lot of time at the Jersey shore in the spring/summer/fall. I don’t mind it being chilly, as long as it’s sunny. It’s just been so gray here this winter! I hope you’re going somewhere awesome for your vacation.. that sounds great!

I’m the same! Born and raised an Ohioan, moved to NC
for five lovely years, and moved to Michigan for
my husband a year ago. We had 2 days of sun for the month of January! And I missed one of them! SAD is real and I have it. Can’t wait for Maui next month so I can soak in the sun!
