I woke up late today dreaming some crazy dream about a group of bloggers doing ballet and being chased out of a warehouse by the police.
You can guess who was the ringleader of the trouble in my dream!
Waking with a jolt and realizing it was sunny and I’d overslept reminded me of being young.
Which reminded me of cereal.
And a craving was born!
Snap, crackle, pop:
Cereal with milk, new millennium style ; )
Cereal Remix
- 2/3 cup brown rice crisp cereal [Erewhon brand I got with a coupon ages ago]
- 1/3 cup Peanut Butter Panda Puffs
- 1/3 cup dry muesli oats
- Strabs
- Banana
- Ground flax
- ~1 cup milk
- Naturally Nutty PB on top
It was delicious AND filling!!
Hot + steamy tea
Sadly no OJ, side of milk, cantaloupe or eggs to go with this complete cereal breakfast –
We have multiple meetings today (so much for taking a day off of the bakery!) but we should have excellent weather and dinner plans to balance it out.
Khushboo says
Mmm that looks like a good start to your day. I can never seem togive my bowl of oats for cereal so I tend to end up snacking on cereal to get my fix!
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Loving the crunchy start to your day! As the weather gets warmer, I am kind of getting over my hot oats.. thinking I need to switch it up to some coolness and crunchiness! Thanks for aiding my inspiriation! 🙂
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I love cereal but I’m always hungry 20 minutes later now matter how much I bulk it up! Maybe I just need warm foods (oats or eggs) to feel satisfied in the morning.
We are having lovely weather today too and I can’t wait to get outside!
Cait's Plate says
There’s NOTHING better than strawberries and a dollop of peanut butter to make cereal taste even better 🙂
I’m a huge fan of yogurt, berries and pb as well.
Good luck with your meetings and yay for excellent weather!! It’s about time right??
Mariah@ Apples "n" Oats says
this looks soooogood! normally cereal doesn’t fill me up , but i think this one would get the job done
Ashley says
LOL about your dream!!!!!!!! I hope I was there! 😉
Meg says
HAHA your dream!! I hope I was in it too 😉 that sounds exciting!
So does breakfast 😀
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
That bowl looks great!! I love nice crunchy cereals – even though they don’t keep me full for that long, they taste so good. I could probably go through a box in a day if I let myself! Good luck with the meetings today. Can’t wait to see what your dinner plans are!
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
I just noticed you have an Android App! It makes me wish I had an Android phone!!!
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
I wish that dream was true – it sounds so fun! Bah. Maybe you should give up the bread idea, and open a ballet school instead? It sounds like subconsciously that’s what you want….:p
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
It took me far too long to figure out what “starbs” were.
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
It took me far too long to figure out what “strabs” were.
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
I love Erewhon cereals! I have like 6 boxes of their products, lol.
Kay (skinnybound) says
HOW FUNNY! I have dreams about bloggers all the time — actually, last night I dreamt that I was driving a sweet antique car when I saw a KERF sign! So I convinced all my friends to go eat at your restaurant (???) where you made us pancakes. They were great, by the way 🙂
Cereal is an at-home treat for me. Every time I come home from college, I have a big bowl at breakfast.
KathEats says
🙂 I need more KERF signs 🙂
Mom says
Fun!
shannon (the daily balance) says
what I would give to oversleep — not gonna happen for a LOOOOONG time with my little man waking me up every morning needing HIS breakfast!
speaking of which, that is quite a complex bowl of cereal you’ve got there — delish!!!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Yum! Great way to start the day. Good luck with the meetings!
Susan (Oliepants) says
I’m a big fan of cereal – especially with fruit in it! Yum! 🙂
Errign says
Mmm, I contemplated cereal this morning, but I was afraid it wouldn’t fill me up! I need to experiment with cereal servings and mix-ins on days that I’m not on campus all day!
Kristi @ KristiAteIt says
I love cereal but it never keeps me full. That’s a way to stay satisfied all morning, add a bunch of mixin’s!
Michelle @ Turning Over a New Leaf says
Must be a cereal kind of day! I popped amaranth a la Ashley and ate it with milk, spices, almonds, chia, coconut, banana, and blueberries. Yumm!! I rarely ever added fruit to my cereal when I was young, but now it’s a necessity!
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
wow you must have had a craving because you hardly ever have cereal!
it’s def best to feed those cravings bec nothing else will ever satisfy! 😛 good luck with your busy day! 🙂
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Hilarious about the dreams lately! 😉 Good luck with the meetings today!
Angel7 says
We eat cereal almost everyday. Sometimes we switch it up and have eggs and toast. But the majority of the time it is cereal. Cereal always fills me up, and staves off the hunger pangs I would have by 10:30AM if I did not have breakfast, which is not very often. I have to eat something in the morning, or I have a headache before noon.

Donna says
I’ve never ever tried PB on my cereal, must give that a try asap!
I had crazy crazy dreams last night as well, they always make me laugh in the morning 🙂
Marina says
I love cereal, specially paired with some fresh fruit!
Have a nice productive day 🙂
Karen says
I’m loving fresh strawberries lately too…so bright and summer-ish!
Lauren says
I’m BIG on cereal, I love it so much. Especially with fruit and other goodies on top!!! This looks delicious.
Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing says
Some mornings, cereal is all that will do 🙂 But I’m sure we’re lacking nutritionally, since our breakfasts weren’t “complete” 😉 Better go grab the 50 sides we need to “complete” it! LOL
lynn @ the actor's diet says
do people really have their cereal with extra milk on the side?!?
Erin says
That doesn’t make sense to me either. My husband will pour my stepdaughter a bowl of cereal with milk, and then pour her a glass of milk. She NEVER drinks the glass, but drains her bowl of the leftover milk. She’s 8 and he still does this, knowing we’re going to waste it…drives me nuts!
RhodeyGirl says
Was I in the dream? 🙂
faith says
I’ve been on a cereal kick lately. Kashi, plain yogurt, banana, and ground flax has kept me going every morning this week. I think hot oats may take the season off.
Love that spoon!
Emily says
That looks amazing! I love how you call strawberries “strabs”. That’s what my husband and I call them too 🙂 And I kind of want a KathEats coffee mug. Are these on open sky?
KathEats says
It’s from CafePress – you can still buy them!
Ryane says
Hey busy bee! Did you see that today is Cristin’s last day blogging Eat Like Me at Self? I wouldn’t have found out for your blog if not for hers! I can’t believe I’ve been reading about your and her food intake for 3+ years now!
PS. Great Harvest in Nashua, NH opens this weekend! I’ve only tried GH bread a handful of times (and drool almost daily over yours) so I’m definitely looking forward to having it in my neighborhood!
KathEats says
I did see that!
Yay Nashua!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Cereal really does remind me of being a kid! As does sleeping in. It used to be such a treat on the weekend to not have to get up early.
Mama Pea says
I am cracking up about your dream. Clearly you need to stop going to bed thinking about me. 🙂
KathEats says
Every night 😉
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
I used to hate waking up late and realizing I overslept! I wake up so early now that it doesn’t happen anymore. If anything, I wake up and realize that I still have time to sleep. It’s such a good feeling!
Namaste Gurl says
Mmmm, I love making my own cereal from toasted buckwheat groats, coconut, protein powder, spices, dried fruit and nuts and lost of nuts butter 🙂
Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
Your cereal bowl looks awesome! I love how you mixed multiple cereals + fruit + nut butter for a bowl full of deliciousness!
Molly says
I think you mentioned something recently about how flax needs to be ground for maximal nutritional benefits, is that correct? I have been eating whole flax seeds in my oatmeal for a while, is that a bad thing? Could I grind them with a simple mortar and pestle or do I need a food processor? Thanks!
KathEats says
That is correct. I think a coffee grinder is best – I haven’t tried grinding them by hand. You can definitely still enjoy them whole, but ground is how you absorb the most healthy fat
Lauren says
many people say that cereal doesn’t fill them up, but I think when you eat it like that (and how I do every morning) it can be just if not more filling than oats!
Abby says
That cereal bowl looks tasty! 🙂 I need to come up with a combo that keeps me full like that!
Sable@SquatLikeALady says
I have been on a cereal kick lately! I think it’s the [ever so slightly] warmer weather.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I LOVE cereal too!!! 🙂 Gotta have some raw oats in there, though! ha
Natalia - a side of simple says
Pretty sure I wouldn’t have minded cold cereal as much if THAT was the kind of bowl I got to eat in the morning 🙂
kate@ahealthypassion says
ahh you just reminded me I am out of nut butter and now im craving it… must make some asap!
Christine @ Merf In Progress says
Those strawberries are GORGEOUS!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
I remember snap, crackle, and pop! 😉 That used to be one of my favorite cereals..but the Rice Crispy Treat version of it…had to have the sugar as a kid of course!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Adding PB is an awesome idea to make cereal more filling! I’m going to try that out… with PB puffs and strawberries that’s like a PBJ bowl!
Miranda @ Working Mom Works Out says
Pretty pictures, Kath.
Anne @ Baking Me says
I made oatmeal this morning with coconut milk and it was very tasty! I love seeing all of the breakfast combos you come up with especially the oatmeal!
Ashley @ Feeding Ashley says
I love this. My favorite cereal as a child was fruity pebbles. Your dream made me laugh, especially when I saw the ring leader was mama pea. Hilarious! Have a great day! 🙂
Melissa @ Journey to Marvelous says
I love strawberries in my cereal!
Nina @ SLO Foodie says
I’m a fan of that cereal remix! Strawberries are looking so good lately.
Molly says
I was always amazed as a kid at how the breakfast cereal commercials described a complete breakfast. I’d think: I could never eat that much-oh no!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Looks like an awesome bowl of cereal! I never used to mix cereals until I lived in dorms at school where they had a huge selection of cereals and I could never settle on just one! Now I always have at least 2-3 different kinds in my bowl at a time. 😀
Cindy says
That cereal bowl looks so pretty!
Hannah says
Nut butters are key to making cereal filling, in my humble opinion. My current favourite snack is a huge dollop of sunbutter topped with cheerios, microwaved and stirred together into a big sticky mess 😛
Jenn says
I’ve been following your blog for about a month now. Today I was out walking my son and discovered we are neighbors! Obvious signage on your car. I live on [the next street over]
KathEats says
NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are the SECOND KERF reader to turn out to be a neighbor! We need to start a walking group!
(PS. I edited out the street for privacy’s sake 🙂 )
