Comcast is here installing our new cable + DVR!!
We didn’t really splurge though – I found out if you bundle internet and cable you get $15 off. The basic cable channels (REALLY basic – just local ones) are only $10 a month. DVR is $15. So we got it all for only $10 more a month! All I care about is Gossip Girl, Glee, The Office and 30 Rock 🙂
We have two videos to make and basil to sing to!
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
Videos? What videos are you making?
Love the cheese/jam/pear combo!

I love the cheese/fruit/jam combo on your sandwich. Makes me think of delicious Monte Cristos with green apples, cheese all dipped in grape jelly — Yum!
Bonnie says
Sandwich looks yummy!
Kaleigh says
I LOVE the picture with the bee(!) and I would DIE to have a basil plant like yours. Every time I try to grow basil in our apartment, I KILL IT!! It’s very very sad.
Carrie H says
Are you serious? 🙂 Do you really massage (or whatever) basil leaves? I have a basil plant and it is growing soooooooooooooooooooo slowly. I’ll do anything to help it along. 🙂
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
Basil likes heat, so it will be slowing down as it gets cooler. We grow enough to freeze for the winter, and we just did our big season’s end basil harvest. You pick all the plants, bring them inside, and work on pulling off the leaves while watching something fun!
Natalia - a side of simple says
Mmmm LOVE basil. It foreshadows the glories of pesto!
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
Yes, pesto is the main reason behind our growing and freezing so much basil 🙂
shannon (the daily balance) says
SUCH a great sandwich combo — you have me drooling!
megan @ whatmegansmaking says
Your basil plant looks so healthy! I keep forgetting to water mine, so it goes from healthy to unhealthy quickly. It’s kind of amazing how hardy those little plants are though 🙂
RhodeyGirl says
Congratulations! I hope it is available in time for Glee tonight!!!!!!!
grocery goddess jen says
Yum. I love sharp cheddar sooo much!
Carrie says
Your basil is beautiful! Mine went kaput in the early summer and I never replaced it. I sure miss it though.

Kath – you werent kidding when you said that was a killer sandwich! It looks awesome!
Paige says
That sandwich looks SO good! Your flowers are pretty too. 🙂
I don’t know if it’s just me, but the pictures of yourself that you included in this post look a little grainy. I know you said you were experimenting with Photoshop, so is this a photo effect of some sort?
ms says
i agree – is the ISO high?
Kath says
Maybe because I eat a lot of whole grains!? 😉
HELP! I’m having trouble with resizing and quality. I shoot in 4000 px and then resize to 640 px. THEN I edit, then export and save as “high quality JPEG” and I’ve also tried saving without changing format. But I totally agree they look grainy! When I tried editing before resizing, it was difficult. I need to get a process in order.
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
That salad looks amazing!!! Love that you have a basil plant. I had to leave mine at home when I left for college 🙁
Stacey (The Habit of Healthy) says
That is one delicious looking lunch! I have got to try fruit in a sandwich (you’ve already got me hooked on cheese and jam!).
Michelle @ IronDivas says
I also had a fabulous spinach sandwhich today, mine had almonds, crandberries, bleu cheese, and salmon. Yours looks quite tasty as well! : )
Chelsea at Striking Balance says
Oh my gosh that sandwich sounds amazing! I will sometimes do the cheese and apple/pear thing, but have never thought to add jam as well. Hmm..dinner tonight maybe?
Amy says
wow! that sandwich looks AWESOME! i’m def going to try that sometime soon! mmmm
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Your sandwich looks so ideal! And I love how colorful the crunchy side salad is too. 😀
So jealous of your beautiful basil. Mine have been gone, completely, for at least a month now. I should have taken my friends’ advice and froze some pesto for the winter months. I guess I was just too greedy this summer. 😀
Sarah (OC2Seattle) says
Your basil looks beautiful. SO jealous of your sunshine! It’s grey and muggy (weird for Seattle) here.
amber's notebook says
That sandwich looks amazing.
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
I want that sandwich NOW. It looks so thick and delicious!!
I sing to our houseplants…and our dogs…and myself 🙂

Katie says
I just got cable too! Very exciting….but I still have yet to get on the whole DVR thing.
Heather says
That sandwhich looked awsome!! This question is more geared towards exercise. DO you try and do so many miles a week and try and get in so many yoga classes or do you choose your exercise that morning what you are feeling up to?
THanks!Heather
Kath says
I generally go with what I feel like the day before. (Although I do change it from time to time) and I try to alternate between running, yoga and cross training activities.
kristy @ ksayerphotography says
Your lunch looks amazing! Lately I’ve been in a superb mood and I definitely think the gorgeous spring weather we’re having here is a big contributing factor. I love sunshine 😀
Alyssa says
Kath, if you haven’t seen it yet, you need to add Modern Family to your line-up of shows 🙂 It will have you peeing your pants laughing!
Kath says
I haven’t seen it yet!
Wendy @ Seriously Sassy says
LOVE the bee picture, and LOVE white cheddar! That sandwich looks foodgasmic!!
Angela (Oh She Glows) says
I don’t know if you saw the office recap of the last season…Eric found it for me. Anyways, we watched it before watching this season’s opener and it was hysterical. Basically the funniest moments from the entire last season combined into 7 mins.
Kath says
Oh fun – I haven’t seen it but Thursday’s epi was pretty awesome!
Amy Pea says
And 30 Rock’s premiere was hilarious! I think it’s the best sitcom on TV.
Having to start every sentence for the rest of your life with Steve Urkell’s “Did I Do That?”
Genius, I am still laughing – it’s been my happy place since.
Krystina says
I made a similar sandwich but instead it had jam, apple, dijon and arugula and was pressed. Delish!
Jil says
Ohhh – that sandwich looks sooo amazing. It’s gorgeous!! The salad is beautiful, too!
yummiee cupcake says
pear and cheese sandwich? wow, i got to try it!!
Halley (Blunder Construction) says
Pear + Cheese, a combination that always makes me giggle. My parents were raised in Alabama, where combing cheese and fruit is nothing new! I remember as a child, seeing my mom microwave cheese over pears and thinking she was INSANE. Perhaps if she had stacked in together on a sandwich, as fancifully as you have, I wouldn’t have judged her so harshly! (I still have never tried the combo)
Camille says
I looove the cheese and jam combo! So good!
Annie@stronghealthyfit says
That lunch looks A-mazing. dang.
Laura @ Backstage Pass to Health & Happiness says
What a colorful, tasty-looking lunch! I love cheese + fruit + whole grain bread or crackers together.
Caitlin (EatFeats) says
Sandwiches are so good! That toasty bread looks delectable.
Ally @ Girl in Her Kitchen says
I am in LOVE with that sandwich! What a combination! Yum!
I have a question though, how do you feel okay after running a 10K and then eating a half sandwich? I am a total running n00b but the few times that I have run distances, I have wanted to eat an entire thanksgiving dinner afterward (and probably could). Is this something that gets better with time? 🙁
Kath says
Great Harvest bread is somewhat deceiving – 1 slice (especially hand-cut) is more like 2 slices of grocery store bread. So my half wasn’t nearly as small as it might seem. That sandwich was probably close to 300 calories. Add salad and chips and lunch wasn’t all that small. It was very filling!
Ally @ Girl in Her Kitchen says
Oh, okay! Thanks Kath. I love your blog 🙂
Mary Demery says
I’ve been really into grilled sandwiches lately. I’ll have to try yours!
Simply Life says
oh your lunch looks great!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
That’s a really colorful lunch you got going there, Kath! The weather looks beautiful. 🙂 It finally cooled down a bit here..enough where being outside is enjoyable again.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
That sandwich combo sounds so good! I’ve been dying for some warm, cheesy sandwiches lately, but I can’t really pack them to take to campus with me. 🙁

Alexa @ The Girl In Chucks says
Killer sandwich AND we have the same shirt! Yay Old Navy! 😉
Glad you got a good deal on Comcast. My cable bill is astronomical. I got a year of digital cable + HBO for $35/mo…then when the year went up, my bill skyrocketed to $80!! =O
I had to call them to knock off the HBO (yes, it seriously cost that much) and they’re giving me 6 months at $50/mo for the digital and then it goes up to $60. I could go down to local channels (which unfortunately is more like $20 here…), but I really like the Food Network. And some things on TLC. And The Daily Show. It’s all on the internet…but I hate the wait!
Samantha Cernock says
Hey, I have the exact same shirt!
