Matt and I just returned from a wonderful brunch baby shower hosted by a lovely group of ladies and gents here in Cville!
[Matt does know what a sleep sack is!]
The event was held in Faith and Tate’s brand new kitchen
The ladies did a beautiful job with the details – grey + chevron all over!
Loved the staws – and the lavender lemonade!
We dined on frittatas, salad and fruit + yogurt crepes
Everything tasted delicious
This crepe was like breakfast + dessert all in one! Fruit, granola, yogurt and chocolate almond butter!
There were some crafts for the kiddos and adults alike – block decorating and book inscription writing!
We now have 5 books with loving inscriptions written inside from our friends. Note they are all hilariously food themed!
We received a great selection of gifts – from the cutest clothes to useful mom tools to toys to a place for newborn baby to sleep!
Thank you all so much : )
For Matt – and in 8 weeks for me – everyone brought a 6 pack of brew. One way or another (to prepare, celebrate or recuperate) they will be useful to new parents : )
I dove into these Sweet Haus cupcakes!!!!!
Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Love frosting!
Matt got to watch & learn during Finn’s diaper change
And I got snuggle time in with Baby Declan!
Everyone was sent home with herbs as favors – note the chevron fabric!
Thanks so much, friends, for making us so excited to become parents!

The ‘If You Give a Mouse a Cookie’ series is the best! I think they have added moose, dogs and pancakes the collection as well! Of course, I was always ravished after my mom read me one of those… So be prepared for snack time! Lol. And I love how all of these parties seem so suited to your tastes! Almond butter, crepes, fresh fruit… At my parties I am alwats tryingto make others happy. That means: pizza, chips and candy. I would lovd to attend a party where I actually got to ate food that I enjoyed 🙂

Hi! Lovely shower! Just wanted to mention that babies shouldn’t sleep for an extended period of time the rock and play. Our pediatrician even mentioned it when we said our newborn was sleeping in one at night. It can cause the head to not grow appropriately. It should just be for naps. I was googling around after the Ped mentioned it and checked out the reviews for them on amazon.com. It seems that others had a similar experience. Just wanted to share since I was surprised by that information.
KathEats says
I’ve heard that overnight is fine – just not to also let them nap, play and lounge in it. Use other seats for that – or their crib for naps.
Derry says
We had great luck with the Boppy Noggin Nest head support when our daughter was new (wish they had made that when our son was little!). She didn’t have any problems at all with a misshapen head despite lots of time snoozing in various things: bouncy seats, swings, carseats, etc as a young infant. Just move the “nest” along with the baby wherever he/she goes! Good luck and congratulations!
Simply Life says
how sweet! looks like you have some great friends!

Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Goodnight Moon and The Big Red Barn were two favourites of my boys…The Hungry Caterpillar and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie were also in our ‘library’ of books. As my boys had food allergies…instead of visiting the food court, we would visit the book store…I wanted to encourage a love of reading. My eldest is just starting the Hunger Games series I bought him! ( I am hoping to get my hands on them as well)
Dominique says
What a great baby shower. The food looks great as do you and Matt. Do you have a recipe for that lavender lemonade?

Julia H. @ Going Gulia says
For some reason, I almost never remember the difference between omelettes and fritattas. I ordered a frittata the other day at a diner, then ended up googling the difference between the two on my phone while waiting for my food to come out, haha.
Michele Sparrow says
What a beautiful shower! How nice for the three of you! I love the looks of the crepe you had. I have so many food intolderances, some of which include granola, yogurt and anything containing gluten. Still, I love to LOOK at those treats. If there is one thing I could eat every single day for the rest of my life, it would be granola! Miss that yummy treat! 🙂
Christine says
You look like motherhood comes so natural to you! Honestly, you have never looked better!
KathEats says
Thank you 🙂
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
eeeeek I love baby items so so much! I remember going crazy in the baby aisle right before my nephew was born–almost every week I’d bring him a new fuzzy toy or piece of clothing. 😀 Oh!! Make sure to check out the cute teddy bears like winnie the pooh that have a little silky blankie attached to them! Those are awesome and babies love them. ps: Your skin is still looking amazing as always, as I’ve heard that it’s not easy to keep it looking clear during pregnancy.
Katie says
Earth Balance Coconut and Peanut spread?! I have to find that here in Seattle!
Your shower looks like it was a blast, congrats on baby KERF!

I think the American tradition of a baby shower is lovely and one that we in England should adopt. The beers idea is great too. Very thoughtful to have something for Daddy as so much focus is on mummy. The sleep sack is one of the best baby accessories ever 🙂
