Sorry for the delay – I’ve been productive! Actually I just saw the AT&T guy out because we’re switching our cable and Internet service to their new fiber optic line. It’s going to save us $30 a month too! Sweet!
I didn’t feel like going to the gym today because I had a full plate of stuff to do, so I showered and worked on my list and made plans to get out on a walk later in the day.
My oatmeal was killer this morning and held me over until after 1:00. I wasn’t even grumbly hungry – just weak hungry – so I made lunch. And I ate just what I craved: yogurt, fruit and cereal. I actually had out the ingredients to make a salad too, but after looking at them I decided they weren’t that appealing and that I don’t have to eat veggies with every lunch.
In the bowl:
- a strawberry Chobani
- 2 small kiwis, 2 large strawberries, ~10 grapes (the last of my fresh fruit!)
- ~1 cup of Quaker Oatmeal Squares + GoLean
- 1 tbsp ground flax
- 1 tbsp sliced almonds
Yes, there was yogurt and fruit on the bottom!
It didn’t seem like the biggest lunch, but it was actually really filling. And when you think about it, it had all the necessities except veggies: fruit, dairy, grains, fats, fiber, protein.
After lunch I walked to and from the shopping center to send a package for about 40 minutes total – talking to my mom on the phone. We never talk anymore because of my carpooling so it was fun to catch up!
I’m a little hungry now (4:52pm) so I might make a snack. It’s a little early to think about dinner!

Is anyone out there west of the Rockies? I love reading everyone’s blogs, but I would like to read someone who lives on the West Coast since stores and product differ and some of what you guys recommend is hard for me to find out here.
Can anyone recommend someone?
Oh She Glows says
I love Quaker Oats Squares! They have just the right amount of sweetness.
Sorry Lisa I don’t know anyone west of the Rockies, although I am sure there are many 🙂

Mmmm…I love yogurt for lunch! That looks delish. I sometimes feel like I have to eat veggies at lunch but it’s nice to give it a break every once in a while!

Yogurt with cereal is one of my favorites too! I posted about it on ‘yogurt + cereal = yum’ It’s the best combo and doesn’t get as soggy as cereal with milk and sometimes I mix in some cottage cheese. I like the vanilla chobani or just plain yogurt. I tried the strawberry and thought it was really sweet.

Hi Frequent Reader Rare Commentator,
With the exception of the yoga, Kath was the first with the oatmeal breakfast and creative lunches. And as for “copying” the yoga, isn’t that what these blogs are for…to get ideas from each other?

I haven’t heard of this fiber optic line….we live out in the middle of nowhere, though, so it probably won’t be available here for 10 more years!

If I wasn’t such a big fan of veggies, I would have a meal like this everyday all day haha
Good for you for listening to your body!

Hi Kath!
I was wondering about eating egg whites vs. eating the full egg. Do you think it’s better to eat just the whites whenever possible or am I not getting all the benefits of the egg by avoiding the yolk?
Thanks!
theoddbod says
don’t worry about the whole egg, unless you’re eating 6 dozen of them. so much good stuff in the yolk
Kath says
Karissa ,
I agree with Oddbod – egg yolks are fine! I always eat whole eggs, although I wouldn’t turn down an egg white omelet. The World’s Healthiest Foods has a page on eggs:

Just don’t eat them by the carton.
