Greetings from Bald Head Island! We’re here for our annual family beach trip and are joined by my parents, Larbs + Matt and Miss Emerson!
We left Charlottesville at 6am on Sunday morning and arrived at noon, waited an hour for the ferry and sailed across. After that you have to catch a tram to deliver all of your gear to your house. It’s quite the haul! The relief of settling in for the week with this ocean view is the best!
After unpacking, we went out to the beach for a quick dip in the ocean and then headed to Cape Fear Station for the Bald Head Island Conservancy’s Annual Picnic.
We traded food tickets for a one-time through the buffet. They had burgers, dogs, and sides, plus live music and drinks.
Mommy and Mazen, sittin’ in a tree…. !
Monday morning we woke up to sunshine and enjoyed eggs, toast, and cherries.
We spent the morning in the ocean, which feels like bathwater!!
Little Snuggles had mixed feelings about the setting. She is just learning to crawl!
We took a break for sandwiches, chips, and Corona!
Mazen played and played in the ocean. Boy loves the surf! Last year he would cry if his face was splashed by a wave, but this year he dives into the waves and goes under water, laughing the whole time!
I knew on our visit this spring that by summer he’d be able to bike around the island, and I was right! Two wheeler success!!
We went to the Shoal’s Club for an early dinner and shared a bunch of apps, just like last year!
My dress is from Title Nine, and there was a woman there wearing the same one!
Happy birthday Matt Allen!!
He is happiest with a Shirley Temple in his hand : )
Those pimento cheese oysters!!!
Cake by the ocean!

How fun! I love the photos, and the cake looks amazing! I’m a wimp when it comes to swimming if the temperature isn’t bathwater. So that ocean would be perfect for me. 🙂 Have a great time!
