We are a bit short-staffed this week due to vacations, so I picked up a few shifts at the bakery on our busiest days. Fridays are always wild!
They are also Red, White + Blueberry Swirl day!!
Although I have to say that I didn’t snack on anything sweet all morning. It’s so easy for me not to snack between breakfast and lunch but much, much harder to do so between lunch and dinner.
FYI, we’re opening an e-commerce section of our website in the coming weeks so we can sell Cville Cluster directly and regularly (among a few of our other mixes). I know some of you will be very excited to hear that!
My workout today was supposed to be walking to and from, but it was pouring when I had to get there so I was forced to drive 🙁 However, 3.5 hours on my feet helping customers was not a piece of cake.
I finally sat down and enjoyed lunch with the boss at 1 O’clock
He made us tomato + cheddar sandwiches with big slices of lettuce
AMAZING Route 11 chips!! These are just so perfectly crunchy I cannot resist!
And we shared an apple. I really miss apples but don’t buy them in the summer because they aren’t as good as the summer fruits. I have no idea what part of the country these are from, but it was one delicious apple.
Just got home and am happy to be off my feet for a while. Working on building a KathEats Facebook page – I feel old that I’m so behind the times. I have no idea what I’ll use it for, but I’ve been told I need one!
Jane says
I also tend to not eat apples in the summer– I miss them but they taste SO much better when in season!
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
The colorful little nut butter sampling bowls totally caught my eye! Man oh man I haven’t had Cville Cluster in forever. Can’t believe it used to be a daily meal 🙂
KathEats says
🙂 We have better knives now so they don’t fall out of the bowls!
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
Fun times! 😀 Bet it’s been a busy day!!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
That is so exciting that you will be selling some of your products online! I know I want to try the Cville Cluster! 🙂
Khushboo says
I’m the same about snacks- I get so munchy between lunch & dinner.
Annette @FitnessPerks says
Apples taste SO much better in the Fall, but I love ’em anyways all year round 😉
The sandwich looks tasty!
Richard says
Apples are great, especially from your own tree.
Jordan @ Bake Write Sleep says
I love that red white & blue bread! SUCH a great idea =]
Mom says
I miss the bakery! When we come up to meet the baby, we’ll stop in for sure!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Hehe no worries on that FB page, I only just made one for my blog recently!! (http://www.facebook.com/EatSpinRunRepeat). I felt so behind because I had everything else going – Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest… no Tumblr I guess but I don’t really feel I need that right now. Can’t wait to see your new page. I’ll be Liking for sure! 🙂
KathEats says
There is just too much to manage!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Haha I have a facebook page for my blog but I don’t do anything with it… Twitter is way more fun!
Amanda says
I tried Great Harvest for the first time last week, I loved it. I got a grilled cheese which is my favorite thing in the world. I also tried the red white and blue bread, it was so good!
KathEats says
🙂 Glad to hear it!
Rachel says
I’d looove to try your granola! Lately I’ve been obsessed lol I find it hard to find a granola that doesn’t hurt my stomach (I’m allergic to evaporated cane juice)
Kathryn @ Mamacado says
So funny you mention the Facebook page. I know I “need” one for my new blog I just started, but also feel like I don’t really need it! I guess it can help you reach a different audience though – especially those who spend all day on Fbook! Good luck.
Heather says
Yay! Can’t wait to get my hands on some CVille granola.
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
lol on your FB page. I didn’t build one til maybe 15 months ago? Not years and years or anything. I really don’t “do” anything with it either but I do have my feed set up to be pushed out to it and people write to me telling me they “read it on my FB page” so I guess it’s helpful for some.
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
I don’t snack between breakfast and lunch either, but afternoon snackage is a must! Your bakery is my dream. Maybe in another life…
Alyssa (pb and oatmeal) says
Yum lunch looks good!
Cait's Plate says
Ah!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS THE BEST NEWS EVER!!!!! I absolutely cannot wait! Though I do still hope to get to the bakery itself someday!
Anony Mous says
I do not want to speak negatively about other Great Harvest locations….but I wish my GH had more to offer. Again, not to be totally negative because at my GH the bread is amazing and the staff is so friendly, but it just appears to me that you guys offer such a wide selection of breads and treats, whereas my GH offers less than half of what the C’Ville GH appears to offer. To end on a high note, your bakery looks lovely, so inviting. 🙂
KathEats says
It’s the best and worst part about each location being completely locally owned – sometimes owners just don’t offer as much, change their menu, get involved, etc.
Amanda @ flecksofgreen says
Fridays may be wild for you at the bakery, but I sure am wild about that selection of bread! Every different loaf looks unbelievable!
Michelle (Peachy Palate) says
Nothing worse than a bad apple, Pink Lady’s seem to be good all year round though! I always find I’m more hungry in the mornings, plenty of snacks get packed! Good luck with the facebook page!
Caro says
I really, really want to visit your bakery! Do you fancy opening one here, in Leeds, England!? 🙂
KathEats says
Probably not, but I’d love to come visit!
Sana says
I would love to order some crunch!!!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
I don’t know how you can work there and not sample everything!! I think I would have a problem with that 😉
Abby says
I stopped at your bakery last Thursday on my way from Virginia Beach back to Ohio. We got sandwiches to go and they were fantastic! 🙂
KathEats says
oh fun, thanks for stopping in!
Kim@hungryhealthygirl says
I would love for you to get a Facebook. That way I can keep up with new posts. 😉
Cassie says
I’m so excited to check out the e-commerce section of your website. I would LOVE to try any of the breads or other products you mention. Wish we had GH near me. =(
MegS says
It’s so amazing to think about all the things that you two have done together!
I’ve been following your blog for about 2 years now. 🙂
By the way, that sandwich looks sooo good!
Ann says
Hey Kath! Does your e-commerce site ship to Canada? Everytime I see a bowl of your C-Ville Cluster I drool … I understand there are certain regulations when it comes to shipping food stuffs into Canada (which is why I can’t get any wild squirrel butter! grrr!), so if this is not an option I understand 🙁 But please definitely let me know, because if it is an option i’m going to be all over that…
KathEats says
To be honest, we probably won’t be able to do this. But if anyone wants to help me research what it would take to do it (wink wink) it’s definitely something we’d consider after we have gotten into a groove
Liz says
So nice to have met you today Kath (I’m the one who stopped by from DC). Oh my goodness, your cookies are so delicious! I am always on the lookout for a great chocolate chip cookie, and your bakery’s is without a doubt one of the very best ones I have ever had. I can’t say enough about how good it was. I’m so glad I bought another one for my boyfriend, as I think sharing might have proven difficult! Looking forward to trying the red white and blue scuffin tomorrow morning!
KathEats says
So glad you liked it!!! I think they’re pretty awesome too – and whole grain! Nice to meet you too 🙂
Ashley @ Hudson on the Potomac says
Excited for Cville Crunch being available through your website!!!
Angel7 says
I heard that Facebook is out in the younger generation, & that they are using Twitter. I am always behind on those types of things.
http://faithfulsolutions.blogspot.com/
KathEats says
Haha… I just think everyone uses twitter
Emma says
I never buy apples in the summer either. Summer berries and stone fruits have ’em beat!
Mmmmm great harvest bread – I had no idea you owned a bakery, I guess I should have looked around the pages more!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
I keep trying to get myself to buy apples because I love them but then I’m drawn into bags of cherries and grapes and decide the apples just aren’t happening this week. And then the cycle continues. I’ll get them back in my life in the fall. 😉
Elisabeth says
So excited you’ll be selling through the website! 😀
Oh, and as far as Facebook, I’ve never had a page (don’t plan to either) and hardly ever even looked at it, so I didn’t even know KERF didn’t have one. Ha! I don’t really care for any of the social media sites because I don’t want to use any of my time in the day for them. I know would probably end up sucked into them too many hours a day, so I decided to never even get started 😉
Mel says
Your store looks amazing! Very cozy and inviting. I’d have a hard time resisting all those sweets and breads. I’m from Washington state so I like to think I know a good apple when I see one (perhaps your’s was from WA!). Anyway, I’m a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco and the apples are definitely not up to snuff here, especially as you said in comparison to all the delicious summer fruit!
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Looks like a great lunch!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I have having to buy apples that come from Chile and New Zealand in the summers, but I love them too much to not eat them! I can’t wait until they’re available locally in the fall. But I hear they’re going to be pretty pricey here this year because apparently a lot of Ontario’s orchards were ruined by frost this spring. 🙁
Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See says
I love/miss apples too!!! Excited for fall 🙂
Valerie says
Super excited to buy Cville Clusters online!
Jeri says
First e-commerce! Next another store! Come on Va Beach! LOL! I’m happy to know that I can soon order some granola and make the pit stop in Cville on my way to see the Hokies Play! (shameless plug for the kid)
Amelia says
Just catching up on your posts and I’m so excited to hear about your ecommerce site!! I always stock up on the Cville Cluster when you have it on Opensky, so I’m excited to order some more!
Erin says
I hope you will ship to APOs!
