Eating….This cottage cheese! So good. We need more single serving cottage cheese in this world.
Working with….I’ve been using the Apple Reminders and Notepad along with Google Calendar for workflow the past year or so. I recently started a free trial of TeuxDeux to test that out. (It’s $24 a year.) I’m liking the super clean look, and love that you can now change the colors. And most of all, I love the evergreen lists at the bottom! It’s a great place to organize my brain. (Read their FAQs – they are hilarious!)
Listening to…. this local band, and I had have their song Home Again in my head for a week! “So I wanna know….do I have your hearrrrrt.” Also re-obsessed with Lady Gaga “You and I” again!
Researching…..I really need some new cowgirl boots as the pair I bought at Rack Room shoes a few years ago (I know, I know!) fell apart. I want something simple – like these – and less than $150. I know you guys have recommended cowgirl boots to me before, but I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars. Any suggestions? (While searching around I found these and these. You couldn’t pay me $600 to wear those…lol!)
Watching…SURVIVOR! The new season just started, so it’s not too late to catch up. Season 33’s theme is Millennials verses Gen X. Should be a good one! I also just finished the finale of Mistresses – whoa! I had no idea it was the series finale – so sad! I loved that show.
Coveting…Everything marble. My parents are giving me an antique marble coffee table from their house, and I’m stoked. I bet they are thrilled that I finally think an antique is cool. Even my favorite lunchbox comes in marble!
Gifting…Our Local Commons, a beautiful coffee table book packed with stunning photographs, recipes and stories about the food scene here in Charlottesville. Volume three just came out!
Reading…Elin Hilderbrand Summer People. Better finish it soon so I can start a fall book!
Wearing…everything It Cosmetics. I went into Ulta to buy more of my favorite concealer and walked out with a bonus pack for spending $50 (I bought two tubes). It came with a travel size of their CC cream, which rocks, and a mini mascara. Everything I have tried from this brand stands out in the industry to me.
Digging… the new iPhone 7! I have the iPhone Upgrade Program through Apple and thus get a new iPhone every year. I never thought I’d be one of those people standing in line on opening day, but Apple got me. I received several emails telling me to reserve a phone, and when it was time to schedule an appointment I found the only option was to go that Friday. And then there I was geeking out with other Apple nerds in line about how excited we were. To be honest it’s not really all that different than my 6S (especially since I had already upgraded to iOS 10, and got the same color) but it’s still slightly better, faster, stronger than my old one. It didn’t cost me anything to upgrade, so I’m pleased!
I’m going caseless again and got the rose gold bumpers from Utomic this time. (They sent them to me to upgrade after I wrote about them last time!) I really love the feel of my phone without a clunky case, and I dropped my 6S at least 5 times and no harm was done.
Giggling over…these shoes (winter? summer? winter? summer?) And this new version of “Ironic.” Love everything James Corden.
Feeling….really happy and excited. For many reasons : )

I’m also obsessing over everything marble lately! I actually own the marble iPhone case and MacBook cover in that Amazon marble link. I’m trying not to go to over board but yes — lovinggggg!
KathEats says
Do you love both?
Courtney says
Love this post! I ordered the rose gold also, can’t wait!
Emma says
Kath, speaking of music, have you heard Niall (of 1D)’s new solo single, “This Town,” yet? One of my new favorites that I though you might appreciate as well.
KathEats says
I just listened!! It’s good!!
Sarah @ BucketListTummy says
I never really got into Survivor. I can’t believe there are so many seasons! I’m with you on the marble – it’s so beautiful and clean. I need to be more organized so I may look into TeuxDuex! Have a great weekend!

Love this! Especially love the last line <3

I got my new Rose Gold 7+ this week and I LOVE it! I’ve been contemplating the Utomic bumpers for a while but it scares me to death lol. I’ve seen the drop tests and I know they work, but I worry about dropping it on an uneven surface or the side of a desk or something – like where the unprotected parts hit first. I don’t know if that makes sense. I hate having a case on my phone so I know they’d at least be better than nothing – for now I have a clear case.
KathEats says
That’s why you get the glass protector too. I have both!
Kathryn says
I had no idea Mistresses got cancelled until I just read this….what a great show it was

I know – so sad!!

I’m obsessed with getting a pair of cowboy boots, but just like you I don’t want to spend a billion dollars. PLEASE tell us what ones you got, where and how much when you do because I’m on the hunt.
KathEats says
I will when I get some!
Jacksonville Chevy says
I have got to try this!

I love everything marble, too! It’s so clean and pretty. I remember complaining about going antiquing with my mom when I was younger, and now it’s one of my favorite things to do 🙂 How times change!

I grew up in Tennessee and I love wearing my cowboy boots. Best advice is to invest in a good pair (leather with a good sole). I have a pair of Ariats that have lasted me the past 8 years. Just make sure to take care of leather (mink oil) and you can always get the re-soled if needed. A good pair of boots can last a long time.
If you’re not willing to spend >$100, then maybe find a local boot shop that sells used boots. French’s boots started in my hometown and are now a chain across the state. I am sure there are probably similar stores all across the south.
Oh, and I too love that cottage cheese. So delicious! Have a wonderful weekend!

Justin, Shyanne & Ariat are all great boot brands. Check bootbarn.com.

This post makes me very happy for you! Cheers Kath, you deserve it!

I can’t believe Survivor is still going! I’ve loved washing Mistresses as a guilty pleasure… I read somewhere that it may not end up being the last episode ever? I’ve seen various rumours floating around! But what a dramatic end.
KathEats says
I hope it sneaks back!!

I got my cowgirl boots on eBay for under $20. They are used but they are still in great shape and I’ve had them for 10 years!
Atsuko says
Thank you for sharing the band. I love love love it. The sound is so right for the fall, too. Then, I listened to “You and I” and am enjoying it again. Great songs make my day! Lady Gaga pointed out the stuff right on it.
GcSk says
Isn’t Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program something like $300-$400 per year depending on the options you choose? So it really isn’t a free upgrade — you’re paying to always have the latest and greatest iPhone…correct?
KathEats says
I think all of the carriers have a monthly plan now so it’s the same as theirs. No contracts.
Michelle says
Ohmygosh.. I’m obsessed with this cottage cheese! The sun-dried tomato is my favorite, but the kalamta olive is a close second! Still haven’t tried the strawberry chia, but soon ????
Katie says
Aww, teuxdeux was started by one of our good friends! He is hilarious, which is why the FAQs are hilarious. It’s fun to see you liking their site! I love it.
KathEats says
So cool!! Yes love those FAQs!
Molly says
Oooooo. That last line!

I actually think those fringed boots are cute!!! The other Nordstrom ones are really weird.
Love that new version of Ironic. Morrisette has still got it!

I second Ariat! Very comfortable while still stylish.

I got these cowboy boots (http://www.zappos.com/ariat-heritage-western-r-toe-distressed-brown) while in Texas on a road trip. They’re cute, durable, and affordable. I love my pair!

Thanks!

I love cottage cheese- need to try that! I have Frye cowboy boots and after 7+ years and countless miles, they were definitely worth it.
Catherine says
Hey Kath! You should definitely check out Bootvil in Ruckersville (only like 5 min past Target on 29). They have a huge variety and I got mine years ago and they are still great.

I didn’t realize it was so close to Target. Need to go!
Charise says
I love my Justin boots, which I think I paid $135 for from the Country Outfitters site a few years ago. They have a wide range of “real” cowboy boot brands at different price points.
Tina says
Oh dear!! Those Birkenstocks are really something! I own a pair of normal (two strap, black leather) birkenstocks and I realize they’re not everyones cup of tea but wow…those are certainly a special kind of beast. >_< I really don't know what season those would even work during! I'd suggest browsing the Zappos website for boots as they have quite a large selection. I know you said around $150, but have you looked at Frye boots? They have some in a western style and they're good quality leather. I can't speak personally about them, but I've certainly swooned over many a pair over the years.
Stephanie says
Hey Kath– try Sheplers for your cowgirl boots! It’s a western wear store (all over the midwest–I’m from Seattle but got my pair when visiting family in Nebraska), so the quality is great and they have brand names, and good prices.
Samantha says
A new phone every year?! That seems really wasteful to me–but to each their own.
