Happy morning
Charlottesville is going on week II of cloudy, gloomy days. Where is the bright fall I love!? September is either all sunshine or all clouds. Year to year, you never know which one. It usually swaps with October, so here’s to a gorgeous Oct!
Breakfast of champions!
Coach’s oats, banana, chia seeds, milk, water, cinnamon, Cville Cluster, Barney Butter
The uzue.
Now that we’re settled a bit more, I’m hoping to crank out some more feature posts I’ve been meaning to write for ages. This week’s smartphone postings made me realize ‘tis better to produce content than not, so I’m hoping to just throw them out there inbetween regularly scheduled posts. Look for that wedding one to pop up soon!
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
It’s okay, that just means your birthday will be sunny! I really like that bowl.
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Allie- I just commented below, but I bought the exact same bowl at Marshall’s the other day. I think I got it for $2!
Meg says
So excited for your upcoming posts 🙂 Glad you’re getting settled, Kath!!
Khushboo says
Breakfasts like that make me want the weather to change from sunny to freezing!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
It’s funny you said that about Setp/Oct b/c I just checked the forecast and from Oct 1 on, it’s pure sun + 60’s. I can handle a few more clouds if that’s what’s coming!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
oooooh oats! I am so excited to get my hands on some too 🙂 I do like October, but I am SO sad SUmmer is over. Boo.
Kerry says
I can’t believe October is nearly here! I’m sad that Sept is nearly over though… autumn is the best!
Aine @ Something to Chew Over says
Looking forward to the posts! 🙂
This morning was the first time I really felt like the season had changed!
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
I just picked up a huge bag of Coach’s Oats at Costco over the weekend, for something different. I haven’t tried them yet, but got them on your recommendation. 🙂
I happen to enjoy both the cloudy days, and the sunny days of fall. The temps have not cooled off near enough here in Clt, so the clouds help. (a bit). Crisp sunny days MUST be just around the corner though!

katie @KatieDid says
Very cool, I’m looking forward to some of these featured posts. I love the simplicity and beautiful posts you always put up but throwing in something different once in a while keeps things interesting and fun too! Have a great day!
Ahn Ei says
Looking forward to some sun too! I’ll be visiting your town tomorrow and Wed! Can’t wait!!
KathEats says
Oh cool! Come visit me at the bakery on Wed 🙂
Cait's Plate says
I know, Mother Nature is totally screwing up this whole Fall thing! Though today is a bit better here…but they ARE saying rain the rest of the week which stinks.
That breakfast looks awesome. I’ve officially finished my Cville Cluster and am now on to Groovy Granola. I LOVE it – though nothing beats Cville Cluster in my book!!
KathEats says
Agreed.
Hillary says
Same deal with the weather here in MD. It’s been gloomy and sad for almost two weeks now! C’mon, sunshine!
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
I’m still getting over how amazing you were with the smartphone blogging! The one time I blogged via iPhone, the picture uploading was going to take forever (blogging thru the wordpress platform directly from the WP site) via my iphone.
If there is some big trick or other platform I am missing, lmk! Did you just login to WP and blog?
KathEats says
Ahhh you need the APP!!!!!!!
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
which one? like a wordpress blogging app?
i wonder if it’s universal…and I could use it on an iphone too? (because I know have a different kind of smartphone)
KathEats says
Yup just search for WordPress app
Lynn @ the actor's diet says
Averie I use Blogpress for the iPhone and it allows you to type between pix. It’s great!
KathEats says
So you like it Lynn? Maybe I should try that!
KathEats says
Hmmm..don’t think they have it for Android.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Thanks, Lynn!
I will be downloading Blogpress for iPhone as soon as I get done typing this. Glad to hear you’ve used it and like it.
Thank you! 🙂
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I love your bright red mug Kath! I hear ya on the weather – we haven’t been treated too badly here yet, but there’s a ton of rain in the forecast. 🙁 Hope you get some sunshine soon!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Cute bowl! 🙂
Deva @ Deva by Definition says
Your breakfast looks delish! I am actually enjoying this September – it seems like it rained a TON in April and May, and then nothing until now. I’ll probably be singing a different tune come this weekend, but I don’t mind cloudy, rainy, fall days 🙂
Dee says
Ooh, cute bowl and mug! And I totally agree with you. October is WAY better than September. 🙂
Anna @ On Anna's Plate says
I agree– October is much better than September!! It’s when fall always seems to REALLY kick in, whereas September is just the remains of summer. I’m ready for the chill of fall!
Jen says
I think producing content is a great focus. Even over ‘regularly scheduled posts’ because otherwise your just doubling the content and time into it! Do what you feel you want to do and not what you feel obligated to do. Within reason of course 🙂
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I’m looking forward to the upcoming posts! I really want the fall weather to arrive already! I can’t wait for the leaves to start changing too. Hurry up fall! I’m over this humidity! 🙂
Christy says
Here in MN they keep promising the sunny warm “Indian Summer” that never comes… 🙁 So yes, here’s to October!
Ann @ Day by Day says
Love the post title. I completely agree. And yes, here’s to hopefully beautiful October weather. My sister went to Washington & Lee, so whenever I would visit her in the fall in your part of the country, I’d be astounded at how beautiful it was!
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance says
Cheers to a sunny October for you! But for us folks in Florida, I hope a chill comes sooner rather than later. You can take some of my sun!
Penny says
So…I hope this isn’t annoyingly tacky, but….
I have a little low traffic blog that I play with in my spare time. I have always wanted to do a giveaway just for fun….. and, well, I decided to give it a go. It’s for free chocolate.
I was kinda sorta hoping maybe I could post a link here for people to see, and more than, say, 3 people would enter it. 🙂

Breakfast looks great! I need to try coach’s oats!
A wedding post would be so fun to read!
Lynn @ the actor's diet says
Its gloomy in la too. I kinda like it as long as it doesn’t rain!

It’s been the same here in Lexington. I’m so sick of it! I need sunshine to live. I hope Oct is beautiful- my birthday is in Oct too!

It’s sunshine-less here in Chicago too…Whee for our birthdays in one month!

Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
I want crackling leaves 60F temps and friggen happy ny’ers. DANG IT. I feel you.
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Fall is one of my favorite seasons and one of the biggest things I miss by living in LA. Don’t get me wrong, I love that my lunch breaks can be taken overlooking (or on) the beach, but I love the crisp fall air, pumpkin cravings and sweaters. I hope you get a nice fall to enjoy for both of us! 🙂
Heather says
Kath – the bowl that your oats are in is so beautiful. Where did you get it?
KathEats says
Thanks – Homegoods!
A Teenage Gourmet (Sami) says
Pleaseeee have this granola on Wednesday! And is it even possible to save me an Oat Berry muffin, Cville Crunch Bread, and a Savanah Bar? 🙂 I want to buy everything!
KathEats says
We will have the granola. If you want the others, give Matt a call and he can do an order for you. The muffin might be a little old, but I like them old! 434-202-7813
A Teenage Gourmet (Sami) says
I texted him. I hope that’s okay! My phone doesn’t work.
KathEats says
That’s the bakery’s number, so I don’t think it can receive texts!! If you email me your order I can get it to him 🙂
Elisabeth says
Crummy weather here, too (Ohio)…it poured/thundered/lightning all night long & supposed to do that all week long, too! I’m missing summer right now…
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Oh my gosh- I just bought that exact same bowl at Marshall’s the other day! I don’t know if it has shown up on my blog yet, but I photographed it for my new banner image!
Heather @ Get Healthy with Heather says
I am looking forward to mire sunny fall days too! Gloomy + rainy needs to go away. I look forward to your new feature posts!
Casey @ Pocket Full of Sunshine says
Looking forward to those posts Kath! Happy Monday! 🙂

42* this morning. I sat on my porch in my hoodie watching the squirrels gather nuts and hide them. A true sign that the seasons are changing. I love fall.
kathleen @ the daily crumb says

skinnyrunner says

One bright spot for you — Gossip Girl returns tonight! I too hope October is a gorgeous month. September has been so rainy.
KathEats says
SO EXCITED!!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Ahhh I can’t believe October is almost here!! I feel like we just got to September! I love October because it’s full blown fall, AND my birthday is at the end of the month!
Katherine says
…And now I know what you had for breakfast today! 🙂 Pump was SO hard, in usual Chris fashion! I love that feeling that it was time well spent.
I am going to have to get some of that granola. It looks delicious!
KathEats says
Haha! Thanks for leaving a comment. Chris kills me! Have you seen this post? https://www.katheats.com/hunka-hunka-pea-love
Katherine says
I had not seen that post! Too funny!
Lara @ TresLaLa says
Maybe I missed it, but how do you make your Coach’s Oats? Do you follow their directions for the amount of water? I’ve made them a few times, and they’ve alternated between too runny and too clumpy…
KathEats says
I make them the same as I do rolled oats – half milk, half water, medium heat brought to a bubbling simmer until reaches desired thickness

Kath
Hi,Im completely in love with your blog-and truely amazed at how much I have learned about food & exercise & health in general through your obviously love of the lifestyle:)
I was wondering(& understand if you perfer not to comment on certain programs) what you throught of weight watchers?
Thank you so much for this blog & be awesome!!
KathEats says
Thanks April!
I think weight watchers is a great program for some people. Just depends if the format and support meshes with your personality. I would say, however, to stay away from their branded yogurts, bars and things. They don’t have the best ingredient lists.
april says
Thank you!
I literally just jumped out of my seat when I sawyou had respond to my post! Completely honored :)your celeb in my books!
Thanks again:)
Melanie says
Can’t friggin’ wait until October. Our early mornings have had a bit of a chill to them, but then the temps reach high 90s in the afternoon. Fall needs to quit teasing me and get on with it already! 🙂
Looking forward to the upcoming posts!
Anna says
Blechhh this weather is the worst! We had that teaser of cool, crisp, Fall weather… and now this? No fun. I think it’s supposed to be a little better next week… at least more sun.
Luci says
Got a question about your chia seeds on the oatmeal – not sure if you’ve answered this before & I don’t really know how to search to find out!
Do you cook the seeds in the oatmeal or sprinkle them on top? I always sprinkle them on my yogurt and my husband mixes them in his water with lime juice (yuk) but I’ve never tried cooking with them… I love reading your posts, you keep me inspired to eat healthy!
KathEats says
Cook them in! I stir them in in the beginning
Jennifer @ Peanut Butter and Peppers says
Here in California were finally getting summer! It’s suppose to be 100 by Wednesday. We have had some weird weather, but then again so have you. I love the summer, but I’m looking forward to the fall. I love the cooler weather, and all the fall produce! Your oats look so delicious!!! I’m stealing your over night oats with pumpkin for my blog, but don’t worry I’ll give you the credit!!!
Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl says
While I was in Tahoe this past weekend, my SIL whipped out a big bag of Coach’s Oats and told em how delicious they are (unfortunately, I already had breakfast when she told em)! And I just learned the product/producer/coach is very local to me. Can’t wait to give the oats a try.
Angel7 says
It has been pretty dreary here, but at least the sun is popping out a little bit from time-to-time today!
