Annnnddd the Summit comes to a close. A long time ago, the planning committee members envisioned this event as a way to put faces to URLs. And I’d say that was absolutely the best part of the weekend! I enjoyed each and every conversion – quick or long – I had with everyone and hope to meet you ALL sometime, someday!
I was up at 7:39 this morning (39 minutes late!) to head out on a final fun run with some of my new friends. We had 4 groups:
-Walkers
-5Kers
-10Kers
and
-16 milers!!
I joined the 10K group for 6 miles along the lakefront path.
I’ve got no photos – only memories!! It was hot and long, but a good run nonetheless due to the great company.
After a SPEEDY red-faced shower, I made my way to the Thomas Farewell Breakfast
Complete with Bagel Thins and a make-your-own cream cheese station with everything from smoked salmon and jalapenos to pineapple and cinnamon.
I made a savory and sweet mix:
Smoked salmon with capers and mint
And blueberries with honey, walnuts and pineapple!
I smothered a bagel thin with a little of each spread. I really do like the Thin brands. Basically it puts bread in second place to delicious food. Sometimes bread can overwhelm. I like bread best by itself!
+ lots of fruit and brown water coffee
Getting to the airport was a bit of a fail. I had to try THREE entrances to my El station to find one that took credit cards – and the machine was BROKEN! I had to put a $10 bill in the machine and lose $7.75. GUFFFF. I gave the ticket to a man at the end of my ride and feel better about it now, but the whole reason I took the El was to only have to pay $2.25!
The ride was uneventful.
The airport was fine.
Just spotted "GOAT CHEESE" on a menu board and wolfed down this black bean, rice, roasted veggie and goat cheese salad for lunch.
Had to pick off the onions!
It was pretty good – just drippy in my lap and not the best eating experience I’ve had.
I had a Yum Universe truffle for dessert!
Now that was good!
We’re boarding for Raleigh! I’m late!!
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
I have to agree with you! That truffle looks so good!
Have a safe trip home!

I had a regular bagel the other day and thought that it did overwhelm the toppings I had put on. I haven’t been able to find Arnold Thins in the Seattle area though:(
Meagan says
I’m from Chicago and that’s one reason I hate taking the EL, it takes all your money before you even have a chance to figure out how to use the machine! ugh! But other than that I’m glad you enjoyed your trip to Chicago!
