Here’s a bit of holiday season joy lately!
Gus seems alarmed by the reindeer!
Seasons Greetings
We are slowly decorating for Christmas
As I’ve said before, I get a little overwhelmed by all the Christmas decor that comes out this time of year. I am loving the neutral quilted stockings we bought last year though (or maybe two years ago?!)
This little tree was a nice touch to the open shelves, especially with a flameless tealight my friend Meg gave me to put in it! The glow looks much prettier and less yellow in person, I promise. I love the flickering on the shelf.
Casual Elfing
We do very casual elfing in this house. She moves around (she is nocturnal) but she is pretty well behaved and doesn’t make any messes : )
Happy Bday Thomas!
Before it’s officially Christmas around here, we have to celebrate Thomas’s birthday! The Hoos were playing basketball, so we took the boys out to dinner and then to the basketball game. Thomas was pleased!
We dined at Maya which was totally delicious and a hit for the boys so said it was the “best mac and cheese ever!” I had the Rockfish Cakes with green beans and cornbread. Blown away by how good it was!
It was a win for the Hoos!
Birch’s New Hats!
KK crocheted these hats for Mazen, and since Birch is into all things Star Wars, he claimed them for himself! He is getting lots of smiles from people when he wears them.
Big Boy Shark do do do-do do do
Christmas Cheer Around Cville
We went to the Fry’s Spring Beach Club holiday party for kids last weekend. The UVA Hullabahoos sang a few songs. I love a good acapella group! They were awesome. Very energetic!
We also made ornaments
And met up with friends at the King Family Vineyards holiday market.
Extra fun with the Popitos food truck and some bubbly!
The Fun Snack Mom
When Thomas and Birch hang one on one they rough house and play sports. When Birch and I hang one on one we have ice cream cones : ) There is no better after school snack!!
We also love to get cozy together. He were are warming up in the afternoon in the sauna blanket! It is loved by all. Head’s up: I was able to get a 15% off code for KERF readers if you’re interested in a sauna for your house! Use KATHEATS for 15% off anything HigherDOSE!
Other afternoon activities
The minifig challenge! Build as many as you can in a row.
And hone your Puzzle-ology !
This two-sided puzzle is also a search and find. Great gift for a 3-6 year old!

Mini Date Night at Random Row
Thomas and I took a pickleball class! We stopped for beers after at Random Row (while Nona had Birch) and ended up getting a pizza and salad. I love that this salad was huge and served on a pizza tray!
And to all a good night!

Kath, you’re so good about recommending kids’ toys
I need something for an almost 3 year old boy and his 1 1/2 year old sister. I was thinking of an art easel, specifically for young kids.
Thoughts? Other suggestions/
Many thanks,Judith

I love that idea! I also love all of the Crayola Mess Free arts and crafts products. I have a “Kids” section of my Amazon Store that has some of our favorites too!
