Had a wonderful time at IKEA!
Came home with this desk (which I had scouted online!) in a different leg and higher height of course:
And a handful of other really fun organization things!
I did not come home with the food storage containers I had wanted because I decided to copy Emily and get some Ball jars to store grains and beans
The store was so vast I worked up an appetite:
After the trip Emily had me over for a wonderful feast!
Farm-fresh veggies
Dips – we were quite hungry!
Yumz!
Mocktails
Maters! She made wonderful oven-fried green tomatoes. Go stalk The Front Burner for all the details!!
Coconut-scented millet in the rice cooker
Good ole tofu!
And a delish mushroom + tomato relish saute to go over it all
The whole meal was so fresh – just seasoned with Salt + Peppa!
Also vegan!
For dessert I tried one of Casey’s latest inventions: THREE-GRAIN CHEWY ENERGY BAR
The secret ingredient was COFFEE and they were AMAZING! Can’t wait to make them!!!
Nite.

My mom and I wanted to get food storage containers/jars but then we figured we had 3902843094 empty almond butter jars that sooooomeone was hoarding that we could recycle!
Also we always go to the bargain section of IKEA to look for amazing deals!

Wow, everything looks amazing. I’ve recently become a flexitarian and have been eating more grains, beans, and veggies. I’m definitely going to make these dishes.
I can’t believe you’ve never been to Ikea! It’s very overwhelming. I’m always exhausted by the end. 🙂 Glad you find some stuff!
Ashley@thehungryscholar says
Some excellent cooking tonight. Yeah IKEA is hardcore, I guess that is why they have a restaurant inside. Next? A hotel?
Krystina says
There are so many delicious sounding things on that plate. I’m drooling!
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
The worst part of IKEA is finding it in the warehouse. But it is so fun to look around 🙂
Chelsey says
I am heading over to Emily’s blog stat to figure out how to make those fried green tomatoes!!!
Michelle says
I’ve never had fried green tomatoes! I think that might be sacrilege since I technically live in the South. Better get on that.
Paige says
How do you do the coconut scented millet in the rice cooker? I just finally started using a rice cooker, but I haven’t tried doing other grains other than rice!
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
Hope you can sleep with the bar that has coffee in it. 🙂 I use canning jars for my grain and flour storage, works perfect and looks cute.
Hannah says
How can you go to IKEA and not eat Daim bars?! Travesty! However, I forgive you because you had millet and tofu. The End.
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
What a healthy dinner! I love it 🙂
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says

As for that Ikea….that is MASSIVE!! I would have got lost in there :/
Kate (This American Wife) says
I am SO jealous of your trip to IKEA! It’s actually probably a good thing that I don’t live very close to one! I’d be in trouble!
Laura (Starloz) says
Ikea scares me. before I visit I look online. if i look around the store i get so excited about everything & end up walking out empty handed
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Green tomatoes have so many uses. My grandmother used to make what we knew as “chow”, which was basically pickled tomatoes, cauliflower, etc. Sounds weird, tasted amazing. 😀
I’ll have to try giving the fried green tomatoes a try. It sounds delicious! 😀
Tracey says
I started using glass jars to store grains and beans, too! I noticed while watching an episode of the Barefoot Contessa that Ina had beautiful glass jars on her counter filled with lentils, oats, etc. I had to copy it immediately. 🙂
Amanda (The Nutritionist Reviews) says
Those fried tomatoes look amazing!
I’ve never heard of lentil dip before. That sounds so good!
sweetersalt says
Love oven fried green tomatoes – so delish. Green tomatoes are one of my favorite parts of summer.
Nelly@CrazySexyFit says
Oh me oh my. That dinner looks spectacular. I only just had breakfast and you’re making me hungry again! 😛
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
I’m also copying Emily’s Ball jar idea — actually, I’m using any glass jars I get my hands on, including former salsa jars, pickle jars, nut butter jars, etc. I’m trying to save most of my actual Ball jars for canning 🙂
Nothing like a fresh-from-the-farm dinner to end the day right!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
That whole dinner looks wonderful! I’ve never seen coconut scented millet in stores, but I want to look out for it now!
marie @ marie would says
i think i will take that bell jar storage idea as well, it is so qt and clean looking, v. shabby chic

Sounds like a great day. 🙂
I can’t leave IKEA without buying something.
Anne @ Food Loving Polar Bear says
It’s so funny to see you and IKEA in the same picture. Somehow I always forget that other countries besides Scandinavia also have IKEA 🙂
Kim says
Ball jars are great for food storage. I’ve been using them for a while and love the wide mouth jars for smaller quantities. I also store my frozen veggies in them and they work great.
