Elephant in my OATS!?
How did Tusker get in there!!?! I think he must have convinced Matt to put him in. He was hungry for oats.
I slept WONDERFULLY last night!! We had a cold front come through and it’s freezing outside – but in a good, autumn way. We pulled up the down comforter and I slept until almost 8AM! Feeling so much better today.
I bounded down the stairs ready for a peanut buttery bowl of oats!
Found this spotted leopard ready for consumption too!
Sarah gave me these wild lingonberry preserves that she got at IKEA this past fall and I’m just now opening them up (that’s what Crofter’s will do to ya! Although I still have one jar to review).
The lingonberry is DELICIOUS!! Like a sweet cranberry. And the jam is totally chunky – which I love. I’m a big texture person!
PB + J Extreme
The Mix
- 1/3 cup oats
- 1/3 cup water, plus a splash more for dried fruit + chia
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 big spotted banana
- 1 tbsp raisins
- 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
- Lingonberry preserves
- Coconut
- A wonderful, melted blob of TJs Valencia PB
Might that be the AFRICAN continent!?!?!? [Total coincidence – I just noticed it now!]
Sooooo delish!!
Some Caftea with a furry gorilla face peeking back out!
Happy Mother’s Day!
I have two great moms 🙂
My mom learned how to use her scanner yesterday!! Expect lots of fun photos to come!
Here’s my mom rockin’ a cowgirl costume when she was little – circa 1957!
And here are the two daughters she birthed – probably about 1989ish.
Her third daughter was adopted
Thanks for moms!

Take your safari into the galaxy – Galaxy Granola is now in my shop! It’s available in 6-pack orders – shipping didn’t cover one bag at a time. Perhaps you could go in with a friend and split it 3 each?

Notice that I made the font a little bigger? Hope that helps!

I’m freezing so I’m going to get back in BED and read!!!

Wow, you’ve got quite the African themed day going on there! I particuarly like that banana…I might go get my elephant in from the backyard and trek the thousands of miles across the continents, just to get one of those beautiful leapord bananas…they are so rare!
Have a lovely day 🙂

Those oats look delicious!!! I get on just plain peanut butter kicks every once in a while and it’s just SO GOOD! I love the flavored ones but the plain is the best..

Jen Merschel says
Hi Kath – I’ve recently found your blog through Meg at BeFitBeFull and I am really enjoying reading it everyday. I share your love of oatmeal and have noticed you always eat it with a long dessert type spoon and I do the same thing! I actually only have one and I wash it everyday just to eat my oatmeal with. I’m thinking I need to get another set and also one of those beautiful Buddha bowls to make my morning experience complete.
Kath says
Welcome Jen!
Kara says
Hi Kath!
Do you use your French Press for looseleaf tea and coffee? Love the Africa shaped peanut butter blob 🙂
Kara
Kath says
Always for coffee, but I haven’t tried it with tea yet. Haven’t needed to make more than one cup at a time.
christina says

Cute pics for Mothers Day Kath!
Mom says
If ya’ll notice that Kath’s bangs (and Laura’s) are crooked, it’s because I cut them and the girls REFUSED to sit still, despite the promise of M and M’s. I know Kath would not approve of bribing a child with candy, but it sure worked (some of the time.)

That oatmeal sounds absolutely fabulous! I’m a huge texture person as well. Things can taste ok, but if the texture is off I just can’t eat it!

They haven’t even MENTIONED Mother’s Day to me yet!!
Wei-Wei says
That elephant is so cute! What’s it used for? I love the oats. I’m all out of peanut butter right now… 🙁 But it was the nasty Skippy kind, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t tasty. I’m gonna make my own peanut butter with a blender tomorrow! PB+J oats don’t look too far off 😀
Love the theme in this post! Happy Mother’s Day! Have a good one 🙂

I am sure the elephant begged your husband to throw him in the oats b/c he was hungry!
Either that or he just wanted his 15 mins of fame too!
haha!

ooooh what wonderful photos 🙂 Too cute!!!
Deirdre says
Loved the old pictures. Totally random but where are you and your sister’s dresses from? They just look very similar to these Laura Ashley dresses my sister and I wore one year for Easter.

i’m so glad the lingonberry is good!! and the 1989 picture is SO. FREAKING. CUTE 🙂
ps: i vote no hose + sweater on the pic above 🙂

That’s a pretty amazing oat combination. I love experimenting with different toppings.
Lorin says
Do you only use 1/3 cup oatmeal because you put other stuff in it?
Kath says
Pretty much!
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
You look the same as you did when you were little. I can definitely tell it is you.
I love the accidental Africa in your bowl.
Mom says
Deirdre,I always wanted the girls and me to have matching Laura Ashley dresses! The dresses Kath and Laura are wearing in the photo were hand smocked ones from a children’s store in Baltimore that my mom frequented.
Hannah says
Oh wow, you look so much like you when you were younger (teehee… when you were Younger…) I know that sounds silly but some people looked so different as kuds!
annie says
hey kath, i’ve always wondered…what do they use to sweeten the preserves you eat?
in australia we just say ‘jam’ for any fruit-based (supposedly) spread but generally ours are sweetened with cane sugar unless otherwise specified (some jams are made with grape juice concentrate but they’re usually imported and alot more pricey!)
love your blog and i love that you’re getting into yoga cause yoga is my life!
-annie
Kath says
It depends! But most are cane sugar. I dont’ have a problem with it in such low doses.
annie says
ha me neither 😀
