The nursery even looks better from my own bedroom now, and I enjoyed the sunny view from bed this morning!
I also really enjoyed this bowl of Strawberry-Banana Cottage Cheese Oats! Whipped banana oat base with 3 big sliced strawberries stirred in along with about 1/3 cup cottage cheese just before removing from the heat. If you leave the cottage cheese on just a bit more with heat, it melts and makes the oatmeal a bit more soupy, which I love! If you like yours thick, remove from heat just after stirring it in!
I topped it with homemade granola, Sunbutter and one taste of my homemade coconut butter, which tastes like coriander and some other spice (in my head only – it wasn’t contaminated) and I am dumping it. That’s two dumped recipes this week. So sad. But also not worth putting to my lips!
Sippin’ on tea. Still Christmas around here.
[New IKEA cloth! One for my kitchen, one for my camera : ) ]
I’m working tomorrow, so it doesn’t feel like a Friday, but it makes Saturday night all-the-more special!
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
Sorry about the other recipe not turning out but good for you for not eating it ‘just because!’ I love to view to the nursery, so nice and cheery in the morning sun!
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
Love your new Ikea cloth!! So fun.
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Love the cute cloth from Ikea!
Last night I picked up Sunflower Seed butter, but sadly they only had crunchy. I hate it. Creamy is SO much better!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I really need to get some granola to top oats and smoothies with – I love the extra crunch!
Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon says
Woah! I have a really similar mug that was a 16th birthday present from my little sister way back when. She said that 16 means you must start drinking coffee haha!!
But it is the same colors–purple on the bottom, green around the rim. Just a different shape.
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I love that cloth from Ikea! It’s perfect for spring! 🙂 The nursery does look nice!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Nice view! 😉
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
That looks like such a sunny, happy room. 🙂
Love those cottage cheese oats! I’m eating zucchini bread oats right now… I bet it would be good with cottage cheese!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Ooh I like the Ikea cloth! Is it sad that I get excited about dishtowels and linens? You know you’re a food blogger when! 😉 Happy Friday!
Ann says
Yum! What kind of cottage cheese do you use?
KathEats says
Whole Foods organic low-fat
Leah says
Have you ever had the Friendship Whipped Cottage cheese? Such a good consistency!!
Tracy says
Oooh I love Friendship whipped cottage cheese! Sadly they don’t sell it in Kansas. I buy it whenever I visit my parents in FL. Where do you buy it, Leah?
Leah says
I live in the DC area–I’ve seen it at Giant and Harris Teeter.
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
Sorry about the two recipe flops this week. That just means you’re all set for awhile and won’t have any more for a long time to come 🙂
Cait's Plate says
Love the view of the nursery from your room!
And I love that bowl your oats are in…I’ve been looking for one like that for a while now but can’t find one anywhere!
Andrea says
That is the EXACT bowl of oats I was GOING to have this morning, but changed my mind last minute to a blueberry bagel with peanut butter cream cheese & a grapefruit. Now I want more grapefruit.. soo good! Have a beautiful day, Kath! 🙂
Jen says
These photos are really great Kath – especially the second one. It seems really…real. Like it’s right in front of me.
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Such a bummer when a recipe does not turn out how one expects it…I hate to waste but then again if it doesn’t taste good…I don’t want to eat it either! lol Love the cloth from Ikea…I just picked up a colourful napkin from Crate and Barrel that I just LOVE…covered in brightly coloured birds and flowers…so pretty, it brightens my day!
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
Just a thought, if you haven’t already dumped it — would the coconut butter still work for savory dishes, especially if used for cooking?
KathEats says
Maybe… But I really don’t like the flavor : ( id be afraid of ruining the dish!
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
Fun to throw new linens into the mix! Beautiful breakfast — I’ve been off of the oat train for about a week and am getting geared up again. It seems it goes in cycles for me. But I love it every time I find my way back. 🙂
mary @ minutespermile says
Pretty cloth! I always get sad tossing food I paid for, but get sadder eating something that tastes bad. Way to choose the lesser pain!
Randy says
Very cool mug, great colors together. Filled with tea most likely. 🙂
Jeri says
Good Morning Kath. i too love lying in my bed looking at the sun rise out of my bedroom window. Then sitting in my kitchen and watching the sun set against my lake.
Added a new fruit to my oatmeal. I chopped up a pair and put it in with some cinnamon spice instant oatmeal and added some Land o Lakes cinnamon sugar butter. It’s like a pear tart with a crumble topping. YUM!
I know I have to cut back on the sugar. make small changes so they don’t overwhelm me. See you for lunch! LOL
Jasper Naomi @ crunchylittlebites says
All of the effort you are putting into the nursery really is special. You’re gunna be ready!
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Sometimes the things we try to make just don’t turn out and they need to go away.
Shelly says
I tried the cottage cheese in my oats but it either curdled or it didn’t melt properly..what is the secret??
KathEats says
Well they are curds, so they should stay curds in there. The curds just get dispersed throughout. If you cook it a little longer, it will melt more so there are less of them, but not completely
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
I love the sun light in that room! So cute!
KhushbOo says
Oh boy, anything coriander-tasting is not a good sign :-/
daphna says
Yum, looks great! I was wondering whether your Open Sky tea (golden moon I think it’s called) is in bags or loose? You answered me yesterday by saying “yes,” but I’m not sure if that meant option 1 or 2. 🙂 Thanks!
KathEats says
I’m sorry – I wrote you back again to say that yes they are LOOSE!
daphna says
Thank so much!! 🙂
j3nn says
Oh, hate when recipes don’t turn out as expected, but yeah, there’s no sense in keeping something that doesn’t taste good to you. I do this several times a week, so don’t feel bad, lol. 🙂
Sarah @ Fresh Living says
Your room looks perfect for a baby. What a beautiful spot! Your breakfast looks amazing too…as usual!
jojo says
That is too bad that the coconut butter didn’t work out!
Third time charm, it should work next time you try! 🙂
Farah says
I love bowls so I have to ask you Kath – Is that bowl from a Bobby Flay collection at Kohl’s or did you get it at TJ Maxx or Home Goods? I saw one a while ago that looked similar but can’t remember where…and am kicking myself for not getting it then 🙂
KathEats says
Yup yup!! TJ Maxx I think? Or Kohl’s..
Farah says
Thanks! Next time I’m at either of those places I’ll scope out the bowl section again 😉
Bethany B says
I loved the book Room With a View. It was required reading in high school and all my friends hated it, but I enjoyed it! I also like your new nursery arrangement- looks great!
Angel7 says
I have such a hard time throwing away food. However, when food smells, tastes or looks funky, that is a sign to toss it.
Love the cloth!
