Turn basic meatballs up a notch as red pepper jelly meatballs with a sweet and spicy glaze! This homemade version of the Trader Joe’s favorite is simple and tasty.
It’s fall ya’ll! The leaves are coming down and I’m back in the kitchen making comfort food like these Trader Joe’s knockoff red pepper jelly meatballs!
Red Pepper Jelly Meatballs!
I’ve been all over the red pepper jelly lately : ) We made this basic sun-dried tomato and spinach version of our favorite meatball recipe, added some bacon to it, and brushed red pepper jelly on top. It turned into the most amazing sweet-spicy glaze!!Find the ingredient proportions on the recipe page above.
The ingredients
Mix the ingredients together and roll them into balls.
Add red pepper jelly
And then just brush with your favorite red pepper jelly.
Sweet / sticky / spicy glaze!
Served with a mix of eggplant, zucchini and tomatoes and some crusty homemade bread. Extra RPJ for dunking!
Finally, I had this for the first time at a party last week. Excellent spice profile!!

What kind of Red Pepper Jelly do you use? I’m obsessed with it as well….I’ve been using the Trader Joe’s stuff, which is okay. I like the brand Costco sells better but I don’t like RPJ enough to go through 30oz of it myself before it goes bad. 🙂 So I’m interested in what type you like since it looks like it comes in smaller quantities!

I had a jar that my friend Jessica made at home. It was delicious!

All of your meals look delicious as usual Kath! Do you eat the squash “skin”?
KathEats says
I eat some of it but not the toughest parts

I’ve never had red pepper jelly. I’m guessing it’s sweet and spicy? Maybe all spicy? 🙂
The tree in our front yard started to turn colors and I snapped a picture Sunday afternoon when the sunset rays were hitting it and making it look brighter than usual. Good thing I did because we had LOTS of wind that night and I woke up Monday morning to a 75% bare tree!!! How does that happen!!!!!!
Emily @ Life on Food says
Oh those meatballs do look good!
Alice says
Yum! But I’m confused about the “little bites” of pancakes – how do you normally eat them if they’re not cut into little bites?
KathEats says
I cut off one bite at a time instead of cutting them up all at once! Subtle but different.

It’s finally turning fall in my hometown! The meatballs look great!
Silly question, have you ever accidentally knocked food off your deck railing when you take your photos? I’m such a klutz that I know I would do that! LOL!
KathEats says
Surprisingly I have only had one food accident in eight years of blogging and I fell down my basement steps with a no bull burger

omg!!! all for the love of the job, amirite? 😉

I was unaware of red pepper jelly until recently! At an event I was running, the caterer created an app of goat cheese wrapped in phyllo dough topped with red pepper jelly… OMG!

Yay fall!!

Red pepper jelly is also super easy to make. That way you can make it as sweet or spicy as you’d like. We canned it in the smallest mason jar size, since it’s not something you eat a ton of at once. It’s always brought out with cheese and crackers!
