I’m working my way back to recovering. I feel fine now, but my digestive track is all out of sync and I’m half starving and half not hungry – if that makes sense!? Hopefully I can get back to regular meals first thing in the morning. But I did manage to eat some veggies tonight!
The husband made another squash gratin! It tasted good, but I didn’t want a big portion in fear I’d feel sick again, so I had just a quarter this time and an amazing bagel to go with it!
With a little Smart Balance
This afternoon I made a new batch of Coconut Almond Granola – I can’t wait to have some on my oatmeal tomorrow! I had probably a quarter cup when it came out of the oven –
I did get some good relaxation tonight – we watched the movie There Will Be Blood. All about a big oil tycoon. Very interesting and creative!
I had some watermelon (rehydrating!) and a dish of ice cream mid-way through –
Windows Live Editor just saved me 10 whole minutes at least. I’m so excited to blog now!! Just the highlighting of words makes things so much easier. And this copying and pasting is a piece of cake. And you know what that means!? More photos all the time!!
Tomorrow we’re talking body composition in Sports Nutrition and are getting a Bod Pod demo. I had volunteered to be the guinea pig, but I think since my system is upset I’m going to let the other person do it. Then for Food Comp we’re touring the US Foodservice facility in Fort Mill! I should be done in time to have lunch at home.
Off to fall asleep to the sound of crickets…

hey girl,
i’ve been reading jenna’s blog for a week and just checked yours out for the first time yesterday. I LOVE IT! your recipes are amazing and we have very similar weight loss stories. I just started a food/workout/nutrition/recipe blog a few weeks ago: www.fitnessista.com
i wanted to ask you, how did you get the tabs on the top and side of your page? do you have to create seperate blogs and then link them to your main page? any help would be greatly appreciated!
i’m stoked to keep reading your blog- thank you for the recipes, info and motivation!!

I was sold on the Windows Live Editor so I go to download it but it turned out that I’ve already had it on my computer for the past couple of months! D’oh!
I hope you feel better soon!

Glad you’re starting to feel better! When I’m sick, my husband always makes me this. It’s pretty much the only way I can stomach protein and vegetables when I’m not feeling well.

Hey Kath,
Glad to see you’re slowly getting back to your usual food routine.
Is it common to crave carbs when the tummy is not feeling well?
Whenever my tum is not feeling so great, I can only eat toast, cereal, bread, etc. The thought of protein or veggies, makes me feel icky. I just noticed that with you as well.
Is there some science or reasoning behind this? or is it just one of those ‘comfort’ things we all have?
Good night! Hope you feel even better tomorrow! 🙂

Were you and Jenna sick before or after you ate at Laughing Seed? A couple of years ago they were closed down for a brief period of time due to food poisoning…just a thought.

Fitnessista ,
Welcome to KERF! I really don’t know much about the internet and all (just found Microsoft Live Writer yesterday!). The tabs come from my WordPress theme. I checked out your blog and looks like you use Blogger, which I used to use but switched because…..I couldn’t figure out tabs! Plus I thought WordPress was more advance. It’s pretty easy to move blogs, so maybe consider switching if you want the tabs? Although I have seen some Blogger blogs with tabs, so maybe there’s a trick?
Suzanne ,
I think the simple answer is that carbs are easy to digest. CHO digestion starts on the tongue, then protein starts in the stomach and fat doesn’t start until the small intestines (note the satiety associated with each level!) So I think when we’re sick our bodies just want something that will basically dissolve in there via enzymes: carbs.
Dinah Soar,
I don’t think I had food poisening. I think it was a 24 hour bug. Jenna was sick before LS, so I think I caught what she had – or something just while traveling. We are learning about food borne illness in Food Comp and it’s quite scary!

How funny, I watched There will be Blood on Saturday night. It was interesting to say the least. I keep thinking about it more and more and it is growing on me. Did you see No Country for Old Men? I liked how they both made you think afterwards and try to piece everything back together.
Oh yes, and I am installing Windows Live Writer as I type. I am excited!
