Oh, is it really almost over!? Darn! I was just ready to get started.
Some days my job as a pro blogger just takes the time to get up 3 posts and answer> a few comments – maybe an hour tops. But other days, I spend hours working on anything that is remotely related to KERF. Today is was coordinating things for the Foodbuzz Festival, a phone interview for an Open Sky article, probably about 10 different emails that I had to answer> or act upon relating to products or inquiries, finishing up a Real Food Consultation, fixing the website code, and uh, blogging x3 🙂 ‘Bout to go answer> some more comments after this post too.
Also add in about an hour of just staring at my dumb slow computer waiting for it to catch up with itself. New computer researching has begun. The Internet is my J.O.B. and I need a machine that is up to speed with 2009! I waste SO MUCH TIME waiting for this computer to un-freeze. A year in computer years is 25 human years and this guy is 4 years old. [Not getting a Mac – gotta have Windows Live Writer or I’d quit my job!]
I had an excellent snack around 3:30 – a slice of High Five Fiber bread with a tbsp of Nuttzo (I had this after my Open Sky call when I got all excited about the Nuttzo crunch!) and a few grapes on their last legs.
In the 5:00 hour it was "mail timmmmmeee!"
I got a fun package with some Kashi crackers from Kashi themselves! I sampled 3 of the crackers – the Asiago flavor. Matt pronounced them the best flavor ever, but I still think the Honey Sesame is cracker crack. These would be great for a cheesy picnic though.
Also with the mail came a special package from VeggieGirl!! Brownie Points – The Outsiders.
A package of brownies – just the ends!!! I promptly put them in the freezer as the box directed (for ultimate preservation) but had a bite of a corner of one. Fab-you-lus. Thank you Liz!!!
Around 6:30, we ate.
"Frank and beans!!"
2 Applegate Farms Andouille sausages cooked in a pan with a can of drained kidney beans and a bunch of trimmed + washed collard greens. Served over brown rice with Durant’s BBQ sauce + Big Papi sauce (both were delicious on the dish) and red pepper flakes.
More hot tea

Thanks so much to SETH for figuring out the comment page problem, header and the broken extra comment link!! All KERF bugs should be fixed at this point. Let me know if anything is not!

Going to try to start an assignment so I can wake up refreshed tomorrow!

Brownie Points! That is too fun.
I love recommending computers (nerd alert!) because I really love my computer and love to tell other peeps about it! I also read a lot about computers/software for my job so I think I’m pretty well-informed about what’s out there.
I have been using Lenovo Thinkpads exclusively for the last few years and recommend them to everyone. They are the best PC laptops out there (and in my opinion better than Macs too). They’re pricier than Dell/Toshiba/etc. but so worth it because they’re much higher quality. By the way, I easily use my computer 10+ hours a day–I work a LOT, and for a website.–and I’ve actually dropped my computer onto my hardwood floor a few times and it’s never missed a beat. Okay, enough geeking out!
I totally agree with everyone–the new design looks awesome. Well done Team KERF!
Julie says
I take it you watched the funniest episode of the office ever?! You like?! I have to disagree with your wonderful husband as say the cheese kashis are bland. Sorry, dude.
If you don’t have the money for a computer right away, you could always just buy more memory or ram or something.

Ooooo awesome – the edges and corners of a pan of brownies are my favorite parts – they’re chewy-gooey-delicious!

I only blog once a day and I feel like it takes up everything; I could imagine 3 times. Are there a packet of brownies just the middles out there somewhere? I’d looove those

Brownie points = genius. Pure genius.
Estela @ Weekly Bite says

I hear ya on the slow computer thing. I currently have a mac that is maxed out and need to get a new computer. I am such a mac lover but feel like Windows Live Writer would make my life so much better and easier. I’ll be interested to see what you end up with.
Britt says
mmmm…. brownie points, LOL
um yeah the Franks & Beans made me laugh out loud too. ha!
VeggieGirl says
Aww yay! Thank you for the shout-out – enjoy the brownies; and happy belated birthday 🙂
Joelle (The Pancake Girl) says
They sell brownies that are just the ends? I should order a package for my mom for Xmas- she loves the brownie edges! I’m more of a middle girl myself.. Btw, the blog looks excellent, I still can’t get over the new layout.
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Sounds like you had a very busy, but successful, day! I have those crackers sitting in my pantry unopened right now. I want to eat up a few others before I open them, but good to know that they have your (and Matt’s!) approval.

That is how my day was as well. (I’m a full-time blogger as well now that I lost my job!) I thought I’d have time to relax a little but I was busy, busy. busy!!!
Thank you so much for your help with the google doc for the Foodbuzz Fest! I’m looking into Hot Yoga classes for all of us.

Nice Office quote! haha Also, I really enjoyed your afternoon post. You look great now, but I’m sure that the small changes will help you feel even better!
Maggie says
…but if you aren’t looking to do a full upgrade @Julie is right–you could just upgrade the RAM on your current machine.
I seriously admire your ability to JUST taste those brownie points. Baked goods are just so, um, good.
Lizzy says
“frank and beanss!” i love in that episode how pam is so angry and he tries to say that and it’s so awkward haha.
by the way..is it bad that I totally caught that reference to Blue’s Clues instantly?? haha
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
Brownie points sound amazing!
BTW I love the modern take on frank and beans. And I love the veg with it since there normally isn’t any.
Hallie (Healthy Twists) says
How funny that Kashi sent you some crackers…well not THAT funny I guess but I was just thinking about how they don’t seem to do a whole lot of social media, at least not in the traditional sense. Looks like they’re starting to come around!
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
wow you really love windows live writer enough to not get a mac?! they really need to find some suitable alternative, don’t ya think?!
Whitney says
Macs are pretty awesome. I made the switch a year ago and I would never go back. Surely there is a program out there comparable to Live Writer on a Mac. (I just blog directly in WordPress so I don’t know).
Rachael says
You do know that you can run Windows on a Mac, right? Obviously not :p!
Just run Parallels or Boot Camp. Many people even say that Macs run Windows better than PCs!
Caitlin says
gotta love the office!!
Ann-Margaret says
Your dinner looked super yummy! And I LOVE your Office reference!!

I would love a laptop – I’ve been saving for a little while but I want to make sure I save enough for a GOOD laptop – I need it to last a few years!
Those Brownies look delish!
Sarah @ See Sarah Eat says
I love Windows Live Writer too! I can’t believe I blogged for so long without it 😉
How I wish blogging was my job…maybe someday! Good night 🙂

I purchased a Dell desktop from the Dell outlet site about a year and a half ago for $220. It has been flawless and completely reliable. ( I develop websites and do a lot of graphic design.) So I upgraded a month ago to a new desktop from the Dell outlet store with more RAM, Windows Vista with a free upgrade to Windows 7, huge hard drive for $300. They have the same types of deals on laptops. Just sayin’ …

Brownie edges are my fav! Those look yummmmmo

Love the frank and beans. I am soaking some kidney beans for chili tomorrow. Yum!
Blogging is hard work, but somebody’s gotta do it! hehe A reliable, fast computer is imperative!!

I agree…that WAS the funniest Office EVER. I also like the basketball episode and the one where “Ryan started the FI-RE!” The whole “Frank and Beans” bit made me think Jim and Pam were just a little bit dorky.
Susan says
I love the asiago cheese flavor of Kashi! So good…but the fire roasted vegetable is my absolute favorite!
Cara says
I also think the honey sesame are the best. mmmmmmm. especially with honey almond goat cheese. mmmmm.
Chelsea says
To comment on the Thinkpad suggestion-I’ve used a Thinkpad at work for 5+ years now. They are great computers but they are horrible with docking. It doesn’t sound like you’ll be docking your computer so you should be in the clear (if you decided to go that route). I actually had a Mac in college and barely used it because I found it so different and hard. I’m a PC girl too =D
Shelley says
your eats are always so impressive!! & i’ve heard good things about those brownies
xoxo,
Shelley

My laptop does the same thing, it’s so annoying. I hate turning it off because it takes forever to start up and open all my programs again. That Kashi flavor sounds delicious, I’ll try to look out for them next time I am at the grocery store.
AnnQ says
Yum-a-licious looking Brownies!! And I super-love The Office! 🙂
Chelsea says
If you want a Mac, you can get Parallels, which runs Windows programs on a Mac.
Penny says
Love the look of your Franks and Beans. Yum.
Diana says
That dinner looks yum.
I really like the new look of the blog! 🙂 I’m repeating myself but whatever. It just looks so much better than before 🙂
christie @ honoring health says
I made beans and franks on Monday night at the request of my dear husband.
Good luck with your computer search!
Cari says
I’ve never seen just the ends of a brownie being sold! What a great idea, and I am sure they are very good!
Your posts inspire me, I love how you photo your food on a place mat and at a table. I want to get out of the eat in front of the TV routine.
Stacey says
Your day sounds awesome! Jason and I are thinking about getting a new computer. He really likes the big screen monitors that are touch sensitive, they are fun..but I wouldn’t want all those fingerprints all over the monitor! Glad you got all your kinks worked out 😀
Ali@ Food, Fitness, Fashion says
Have fun researching new computers. If you are getting an HP, let me know. They gave me $100 off a new computer and I will never use it because:
1. I am a Mac girl
2. My current computer is less than a year old.
I would hate to see it go to waste, so totally let me know if you could use it 🙂
Emily (Emily Eats and Exercises) says
That Nutzo looks good. I made a vow to clear out my nut butter stash, but maybe after that…
rhodeygirl says
How did you know us Mac users were going to scream GET A MACCCCC! I was anti-Macs until PB bought me one last Christmas. After a short and difficult period relearning everything I am obsessed. I wish Windows Live Writer had a Mac version! They really should by now.
Elina says
Wow, it’s a hard being a pro blogger! 😆
I got a mac last year and love it but I definitely wish I had windows live writer. I hear it’s so amazing and ecto sucks (in my opinion) so I’ve been just blogging straight from wordpress. Not ideal. I understand why you’d continue with a pc. Macs aren’t thaaaat amazing – just pretty 🙂
It’s great that Matt enjoys simple dinners like yours. I feel like every time I cook for me and my husband, it has to be this elaborate recipe; otherwise it’s pizza or sandwiches.
Jess (A Fete For Food) says
HHAHA frank and beans… I love it.
Kath says
Thanks for the computer recs. I probably would get a mac if they had Windows Live Writer. I think they are cool. But PCs can be just as awesome!
Whitney,
There really isn’t….it’s the biggest downfall of the mac! The comparable programs don’t hold a candle to WLW.
Rachael,
Yeah, that’s an option, but probably not worth the extra price of a mac. If I paid for one, I’d want to run the apple system!
Ali@ Food, Fitness, Fashion,
Thanks for offering, but I have one too! I dont’ think you can use two at a time or I’d snag yours in a heartbeat!

Anne Marie@New Weigh of Life says
Veggie Girl rocks! I love your post about being a pro blogger-it takes so much work, but your ‘product’ is worth it!
Dad says
Kath,
Before buying a new PC, you should thoroughly understand why your PC is now slow. There’s nothing that you’re doing — unless you’re doing serious video/pic editing — that should result in a slow PC, slow meaning due to CPU overload. And new PCs have only incrementally changed in hardware performance over the last few years. You may only need to add memory or fix some other bottleneck like network speed. Use Task Manager to figure out why you have slow response.
Love, Dad
Rachael says
Kath,
You can actually split your hard-drive and designate how ever much space you want to run Windows on it (say 60GB or so). Then, when you start up your computer you can have it run in Windows or OSX. It’s pretty awesome 😀
I say this all because I very recently made the switch to Mac and I love it so much! It is a world of difference from my HP laptop which was horrible beyond compare 😛
Kate says
Any new PC with Windows 7 should solve your computer speed problems.
