Ladies and gentlemen, we have a roof!
And our stoop roof…gone.
It’s going to be high and gabled!
With a beadboard ceiling
It must have been hard work because with two hard workers, most of the candy is gone!
All this was happening while I was down at the bakery taking a bunch of photos for another ad we’re running
Pumpkin Ohhhhh!! And that herby one is our brand spankin’ new Rosemary Garlic and it’s GOOD! I had tastes of everything after the session was over. Gotta taste the props!
Matt and I also went to visit Karen, who is feeling MUCH better but still there..she now has some fluid in her lungs that they are watching. It’s one thing after another with poor Karen!
By the time I got home, I still hadn’t cracked open my suitcase. So darling husband made dinner while I packed
No Bull burgers – mushroom flavor – on Honey Wheat buns with a side of kale. Super easy.
The kale was flavored with some herby olive oil and kosher salt.
Dinner was enjoyed with this Dogfish 90 minute Seamane and Rob gave us – SO GOOD!
And dessert was …more ginger cookies. Eileen, I can’t stop!
Want to know something that will make you mad? I’m listening to Christmas music!! Muahahahaha.
lynn @ the actor's diet says
it’s never too early for x-mas. NEVER!!!
my best wishes to karen…
Rebecca says
My sister and I have been listening to Christmas music. Since our snow last week, it seemed appropriate! 🙂

Jessica / Green Skies and Sugar Trips says
So glad Karen is feeling a littler betterk, and good luck with the roof! It sounds like it’s going to be fantastic!
Ummmmm that Pumpkin Roll can be shipped to NY….right? 😉
Crystal says
I broke out the Christmas music today too!
Wish I could find those burgers in Charlotte. They look amazing, but I haven’t been able to find them in this area.
P says
have you heard the She & Him Christmas album? UHHHH MAZING
KathEats says
No?!
P says
it just came out. so good.
Maria @ Sinfully Nutritious says
Oh, I wish we lived where we could try no bull burgers. No distributors in the Philly area.
You bakery shots look great. Congrats on the roof!!!
Have a great trip!
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
i’m trying to hold off on the christmas music until thanksgiving!! i’m feeling weak, though. mariah carey is calling my name.
those burgers look fantastic! cheddar cheese is one of the only “worth it” cheeses to me (goat + feta also). more mild varieties get lost in the mix.
Janelle says
I’m listening to Christmas music too !!! And I put up the tree nov 1st 🙂 ! I live for this season! I made gingerbread cookies today to.. I’m in canada so that our next holiday ,we already had Thanksgiving.
kelsey @ living the gluten free life says
I’ve listened to a couple christmas songs but can’t completely switch over yet – soon tho!
Lauren W says
Oh poor Karen! Best wishes to her! Congrats on your roof-that is so exciting! I can’t wait to see the pictures of it when it is finished. And it always feels good when something big gets done and your decisions are narrowed down, although I’m not sure how many decisions you have to make when building a porch so maybe this isn’t 100% correct. My parents just renovated out house (for the past year) so I can certainly understand the feeling! My mom would be jealous of your porch though-that is the one thing we couldn’t fit into our house renovations. I loved No Bull burgers this summer but they didn’t have the mushroom ones when I was there-guess I have to come back and try them 😉
Kinley @ Better Off Barefoot says
You take the best bread pictures ever! I feel like I could almost eat it, it looks so real!!
Lisa (bakebikeblog) says
cant wait to see the finished product!!!
Cait's Plate says
Ahhhhh! NOT YET!!! We need to celebrate Thanksgiving first!! Haha. I myself am trying to resist with all my might not to get excited for Christmas yet because I try to appreciate each month/holiday but it’s so hard when it’s being thrown in your face at even angle!! Enjoy it for the secret side of me that wishes I were doing it too 😉
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
I bought Coconut Nog today…and drank some!!! It is so good!!!
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
congrats on the roofing project!
and that Pumpkin Roll…oh my. Love the collage you made. I must be really slow b/c doing collages like that one you did in Lightroom take me…forever. Like 20 mins?! You’re a speed demon I’m sure 🙂
KathEats says
Picasa!!!! Nothing is faster for collages
Lyn @ Life Lyn Style says
I’d love for you to do a tutorial about collages like you did when you showed us your lightroom set up.
KathEats says
It’s very easy! Just install free Picasa and then select the photos you want to put in a collage and push “Collage” at the bottom. You might want to resize afterward as the files are huge
Heather says
I don’t know if you watch Parenthood on NBC, but they had kale in last night’s episode – “It’s a superfood. And it’s really trendy.” One of these days they’ll be mentioning KERF or something. 🙂
KathEats says
Haha – love it!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Mmmm those props look so delicious!! And you reminded me I have kale in the fridge I want to eat!! 🙂
Ali @ Peaches and Football says
Rosemary garlic bread sounds AH-MAZING. Our local grocery store used to have a bread with rosemary and millet and it was fantastic. Pity grains always seem to make me gain weight. Too bad spinach and beets don’t have that effect instead 🙂
ashley says
youre packing for the weekend already??? i left at 1pm and started packing at 9am 🙂 see you soon!
KathEats says
Well I’m going home first!!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
yay for a roof! I’m glad it’s coming together! Haha and if I were the construction men I would have been all over that candy, I saw some M&Ms in there!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
good luck packing!!
Wahoo for a great roof-glad it is coming together 🙂
Jen says
Oh my God I could never hate anyone for listening to Xmas music! Man, I wish there were Bull burgers here. They look tiny – like sliders – or is that just from the photo?
Sending prayers and good thoughts to Karen.
Brandy says
Yum, my all-time favorite beer!
Lindsey says
Christmas music?! I love it! I am ready to break out my Glee Christmas CD any day now 🙂
Angel7 says
Growing up, my mom always said that she would not play Christmas music until after Thanksgiving–to listen to Christmas music is like a Christmas faux pas, or something of the such 🙂

Christine (The Raw Project) says
Too funny, I’m going through my Christmas playlist as I read this post! Never too early. 🙂
Tee @ She Writes, Bites, and Window Shops says

Congragulations on the roof!

Those sliders look great and luckily bigger than the ones I was served today hahaha.
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
The last time I had the 60 minute IPA, I wasn’t impressed. I wonder if I’d like the 90 minute more. Have you ever tried the 120 minute?
KathEats says
Yes, incredible!!
Julia H. @ The Petite Spiel says
I 100% approve of you listening to Christmas music. I do sometimes get a little annoyed when stores decorate for Christmas super early, but to me, listening to the music can happen all year round. Enjoy 🙂
Khushboo says
It’s beginning to sound a lot like Xmas ;)!
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
Despite 80 degree weather today, I began listening to Christmas music too! I don’t think I could ever get sick of it.

Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Haha I’m just about ready to break out the Christmas music too! My rule is that I have to wait until after Halloween and after that, it’s fair game. 😉
Molly @ RDexposed says
Mad? No! I think as soon as the first leaf hits the ground that Christmas music is fair game!
Susan H. @ the food allergy chronicles says
All the bread looks AMAZING! The one with all the raisins is calling my name!!! The mere mention of Christmas scares me…I haven’t started my Christmas shopping yet…did get the kids photos taken to send to all my overseas relatives…it’s a tradition. Perhaps if I start listening to Christmas music it will get me in the mood!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Rosemary garlic sounds AMAZING. 🙂
Karen says
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Karen…here’s hoping you’re home soon!
Leigh says
I had the pleasure of being introduced to a wonderful woman last night! I am a nurse and had the chance to meet Matt’s mom! Her wonderful nurses yesterday were informed of the fact that I am a fan of your blog and Great Harvest and I was caring for her neighbor so I got introduced! I was informed by Karen that I had just missed you guys! She is on a wonderful floor, I am new to the floor and everyone there is amazing and truly cares!
KathEats says
Oh my gosh – that’s so fun!! sorry to have just missed you – hope you snagged a loaf of the cinnamon chip we brought by! All of her nurses have been stellar 🙂
Jennifer says
Poor Karen. I hope that clears up soon and she can just get home. I’m sure her spirits are high through all of this, though.
Your breads are amazing! I love the look of that round one with the wheat shape on it. I would love to try the rosemary and garlic. What a great combination!
I keep checking the local radio stations to see if they’ve started the Christmas music. I could listen to that all year round. 🙂
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Dinner looks great, as always! I’m sorry to hear that Karen isn’t feeling well. I hope she regains strength each day. — Happy travels!
Emily says
Mmmm…. Looks like pumpkin roll at the bakery!
Your dinners always look delicious. Just wanted to tell you that. 🙂
Eileen says
glad you like the gingersnaps! they are so addictive.
am loving the porch plans – can’t wait to see the final product 🙂
also…. yesterday I started listening to some Christmas-y music too… classical playlist with just a few Christmas songs thrown in, so it doesn’t feel like too much, too soon. Do you know George Winston’s “December”? It’s a favorite of mine 🙂
I hope Karen feels better soon!!
KathEats says
That’s the kind I listen to now too. Not Jingle Bells kind of stuff, but just the “holidays are around the corner” classical ones!
Lizzie @TheWeekdayVegan says
Listening to Christmas music makes me zero percent mad, it makes me thrilled!!! Starbucks has already started with their holiday cups, I love it.
Courtney says
I’m purchasing my Christmas tree ASAP!
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
Christmas music??? ACK! Not yet! Don’t get me wrong, I do love it…but not until after Thanksgiving. First things first! Best wishes to Karen!
Liz says
Karen just can’t win these days! Hope she is feeling better verrryyyyy soon 🙂
(P.S. I’ve been listening to Christmas music, too – one of the radio stations around me starts their non-stop Christmas music the day after Halloween!)
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Hope Karen is feeling better soon!
Kerry says
Doesn’t make me mad – november is fine for listening to christmas songs!
Plus – secret confession – I listen to them all year round when I’m feeling sad to cheer myself up!
Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl says
I love the pictures for the ad. Beautiful!
And that rosemary garlic bread looks divine. Perfect for the upcoming Holiday. 😉
Andrea says
I would listen to Christmas music year round if I could (well I *know* I can…). I am waiting for a radio station to start playing it here (Madison, WI). Too much work to find my old CD’s and my iPod has gone missing.
I love your blog!
Laurie says
Get well soon Karen! 🙂
