Wow, I can’t believe I made it through the day before Xmas Eve as a healthy eater. I’m not sure I could have done this a year ago. I did great with the fondue – only having enough to get a good taste – and the side dishes (salad and salad!) were refreshing and hit the spot. I loved filing up on healthy things! The night ended sweetly (literally!) and I feel great about how today went.
Walk
This afternoon the husband and my brother in law got in 50 minutes of walking! We walked all around my town and it was so refreshing and a great walk to talk and kill some time before dinner.
Dinner
Started the night with a glass of white wine. Everyone else started drinking right around 5:00 but I have learned that the thought of a cocktail – or dessert or a gourmet meal – are sometimes more pleasurable than actually drinking or eating your delight. Dr. Weil says this in his book and it clicked when I read it as so true with me . I definitely think the thought of “relaxing with a glass of wine” is more fun than having it – because I sometimes start to feel hungover before I’m even done! So tonight being a special occasion I obviously wanted to partake, but I post-poned having my drink utill 5:45 while I made the salad and then REALLY appreciated it when I actually sat down with it.
Here’s my wine in front of our Christmas fireplace. I filled it up another oz or so right before dinner, for a total of about 5 oz.
The fondue was delicious! I had about 5-6 dips and tried not to completely saturate my bread. My mom makes one good cheesy, winey fondue!
My Plate = a rainbow!
- 1/2 green vegetable salad with homemade balsamic vinegarette (that I made!)
- 1/4 fruit salad
- 1/4 bread, ~ 2 oz worth
- The fondue cheese I’m estimating as roughly 125 kcal for 1/4 cup (as it’s listed in CalorieKing). I might have had a little less but an estimate is the best I can do
Dessert
Dessert tonight was Breyers All Natural Mint Chocolate Chip – a favorite of mine – so I had some. I’m guessing I had about a cup. I thought it was like Edy’s and around 110 per 1/2 cup only to find out it was 150 kcal! Probably should have had a little less than I did, but it was creamy and delicious.
Lillis Billis
My parent’s cat, Lillian, a.k.a. “Lillis Billis” wanted to be on the blog. She’s quite a hilarious furball and she’s Queen of the House around here!
Recap
Dinner calories (including ice cream (240) and wine (120) = 880. Rather high for a seemingly nutrious dinner!
Total Sunday calories = 1851
– 604 through walk and AM run
Tomorrow
Tomorrow we’re hitting my mom’s gym in the morning and having lunch at California Pizza Kitchen with a friend. Dinner is ham sandwiches and salad before church and then we’re having a Christmas Eve Party. There are mostly holiday treats planned – bourbon balls, crab dip, cookies, cheesecake – but there will be some healthy things like shrimp cocktail 🙂 ) I’ll try to just have a few nibbles of what I want most.

you're doing so well! i know you can't answer questions, but when you have the chance…do you have a calorieking.com membership or did you buy the actual software? i'm interested in getting one of the two and wondered which you would recommend?

Jenn,
I use CalorieKing.com – the online software – because I can log from both work and home. I would only use the desktop kind if you're always on one computer. I love being able to access my diary when I'm traveling though, so I really don't know why anyone would get the desktop version. I think they are roughly the same price.
