A few weeks ago I received an email from a company called Teespring asking me if I wanted to design and sell a T-shirt for KERF. Teespring coordinates the creating, making and selling of T-shirts without any upfront cost. Sellers can create campaigns for profit or choose a charity to receive the proceeds.
In the spirit of giving this holiday season, I asked some of my friends to join me in a campaign that would spread an uplifting message to women and support a non-profit helping women gain confidence.
Caitlin, Tina, Emily, Meghann, Theodora, Monica, Gina, Julie, Anne, Janae and I came together to create this T-shirt reminding women of all ages to support one another. The shirts are $18 and come in two styles.
We chose the Ladies Empowerment and Action Program {LEAP} as the recipient of 100% of our profits. LEAP works to help prepare incarcerated women to re-enter society and make positive life changes through entrepreneurship training, education and mentorship support programs. The organization hopes to prevent and reduce recidivism, the relapse of criminal behavior and to give participants self sufficiency by encouraging them to start businesses. Business concepts have included a cupcake shop, designing and selling hair accessories, commercial cleaning, landscaping, and barbecue catering! Post-release support includes weekly mentor meetings as well as resources such as work-appropriate clothing. Since it was formed in 2009, LEAP has graduated six classes with a 99% success rate.
We hope you’ll purchase a shirt for your girlfriends, sisters and selves to support this message and cause.
And for fun, I’ll buy one of you a T-shirt of your own. This giveaway is sponsored by me and will run until Friday! USA only please.

Kath,
Where do you go to buy the shirt? None of the links take me there. Thanks for the help!

I am a long time reader and supporter of your blog. I normally feel very inspired and intrigued by what you have to say. I have never left negative feedback or a negative comment. I don’t even know if you will allow this to be posted but I am just going to say that I feel that your posts lately are anything but inspiring. It always seems that it is just tons of pictures or a sponsored post. I love your day in the life of posts, your kitchen updates, or your fabulous recipes. But as of late I just feel that they have been subpar. Again this is completely constructive criticism from a long time reader! Thanks for listening 🙂

Thanks for the feedback Kim. I really do appreciate hearing the types of posts readers want to see most. I just posted our family Thanksgiving and lots of kitchen updates!

Hi! Long time reader here, but I’ve never commented 🙁 My husband and I decided to spend a week for our 10th anniversary in C-ville, since you make it sound so fabulous on your blog 🙂 So far, we have not been disappointed! We love the area and have had a great time exploring around the town. We stopped by your bakery yesterday (Monday the 2nd) and enjoyed a delicious cranberry scuffin and hot tea for breakfast. We’d love to stop by again sometime before we leave for some bread—it smelled SO delicious when we were in there! Oh, and the black bean and corn relleno at Zocalo’s certainly lived up to all my expectations for it 🙂 Thanks for a great idea of where to spend our 10th 🙂

So glad you’ve had a blast! Thanks for stopping into the bakery. Let me know if you head back in!

Fun idea.. I love inspirational quotes, especially as related to my running goals.

You might also suggest that folks donate directly to the charity, rather than have a portion of their cost go towards a t-shirt company. http://www.leapforladies.org/donate

I think most of us are smart enough to figure that out! I bought a shirt and added this organization to my end of year gifting list too, actually.
