Today has been such a long day!! I’m so ready for some rest. Matt is actually back at the bakery giving Warrenton + Burke a tour!
Midafternoon forbidden fruit from the Apple Crunch bread stash!
And some Dakota for protein
Then beer for liquid!
We wrapped up closing shop, talking, brainstorming and all kinds of business with Amanda and biked downtown for dinner
We went to Positively 4th Street – a new favorite restaurant! Sarah is the coolest – ask for her!
Soon enough Karen arrived, fashionable and fashionably on time!
And once the sun began to set – Pablo, Lynda, Jeffery and Jeanette! I’m sorry I did not snap a group photo – it was too dark!
And were busy chugging beers and downing this amazing platter of black-eyed pea hummus!! Compliments of P4TH!!
I almost ordered a glass of wine with dinner, but I’m so glad I didn’t. I just sipped a little of Matt’s beer and my water and was perfectly content. And now I’m not dehydrated!
And I focused on my delicious blackened crabcakes!! These were fabulous.
So were the grits underneath!!
BAH the bike ride home was SO HUMID!! It’s that time of year where you step outside and you automatically feel like you’ve walked through a sprinkler. Droplets everywhere!
I’m off to take a cool shower and tuck myself into bed. G’night!

K,
I took your tamale stuffed pepper idea from last night and ran with it. It turned out great! I made cornbread batter and poured about half of it into the beans/veg (cooked down)/olives/spices then into the blanched pepper cups. Baked, topped with cheese. Really good idea! thanks!
KathEats says
so glad!!!! I think the cornbread batter must have been key 🙂
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
It’s positively soupy here in Clt. I believe the heat index was 107* today, and it’s STILL in the 80’s and muggy as hell, currently. It’s hard to breathe out there! I did the treadmill for 40 mins, nothing too strenuous, in my nice air-conditioned house tonight, and still had to take a cool shower after!
Mmm, black bean hummus sounds yummy!
~
Tara @ the pleased plate says
You’ve got the coolest restaurants in C’Ville!
KathEats says
That’s why we moved here!! 🙂
Lorin says
I know this comment is to Kath, but I definitely recommend visiting whenever you can! I don’t live there but I visited and there were so many awesome choices and all of them were within walking distance of each other.
The Healthy Hipster says
Black eyed pea hummus sounds so unique and delicious! And paired with grits? My oh my! I gotta get myself to the South…

I’m a fan of beer (or wine!) for liquid! ….What a cute little place! Oh, the food!!!! ….. Sleep tight, Kath!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
It is so humid and muggy here too. Walking outside to get the mail feels like such a chore because the air is so thick!
I’m glad you had a nice night — those crabcakes look delicious!
Cait's Plate says
By the time I arrived home from my commute home all I could think was ‘i need a shower!” this is also the type of weather where when you workout then take a shower you sweat for like an hour afterwards! it’s the worst!
Glad you had a fun night, now go get some much deserved rest! 🙂
Sweet and Savvy says
Looks like a really neat place! Those pita strips look absolutely perfect!
Liz says
Yums! Those crab cakes alone makes me want to go to Cville!

Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
that restaurant looks fun! This weather is gross. If it’s 95 and humid in NY, I can’t imagine what VA is like!
Margo @ Peanut Butter Trees says
Looks like a fun dinner! Yeah this humidity is just gross!!
kaila @ healthy helper! says
That restaurant sounds fabulous! I love crabcakes in the summer! They’re so summery and fresh!

Oh wow, that crabcake sounds and looks so good! It is so hot hot right now – I agree…we are in NC and when I left work today the temp read 104….too hot – and humid!
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
the black-eyed pea hummus sounds like such a southern twist on hummus…yum!
Sorry about the humidity. Ugh.
I hope you got a cool shower and are able to hit the sack. Your days sound long and action packed. As always 🙂
melissa says
After growing up in Atlanta, I liken the southern summer’s humidity to stepping out of the shower already sweating.
I now live in Alaska and I can’t decide if the humidity is worth having the ability to hear a good summer thunderstorm. We definitely don’t gets that here.
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Yeah, humidity in abundance! Supposed to be 95F here tomorrow… gah!
The crab cake with grits looks like a supreme combo. I would have ordered the same. 🙂
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
It is definitely ridiculously humid outside right now! I tried to go for a walk/run at 5pm, but made it a quick one as I felt like I was going to pass out. I hope this heat wave will be short lived!
Hannah says
I love how the green of the pepitas mimics the green of your apple!

We went to Monticello for the day and never made it to downtown C’ville. I really wish we had made the effort to take in a meal.

does matt ever get mad or annoyed when you “sip his beers”? I would smack my bf right away from my beer! 🙂
KathEats says
Haha – most of the time no because he can just order another!

Sounds like a fun night!! It might be a silly question but what are grits? Im an aussie and i don’t think we have them here.

It’s so hot + humid here too! I’ve been jumping in my pool before bed every night just so that I can cool off. Otherwise it’s too hard to sleep!
