After a quick visit to the bakery to pick up some leftovers…a lovely 3 mile walk..
We brought out a boat-load of leftovers…
… and had a party on the new porch! It’s 70* outside and feels like we’re at a beach cottage!! Absolutely LOVE the new room added to our house!
Our group made plates to suit their fancy: sandwiches for the men, tasting plates for mom + larbs, and salads topped with the good stuff for Karen and me
The cranberry sauce was my favorite part!
I had tastes of Larbs’ chocolate pumpkin pie and mom’s pumpkin chiffon for dessert – yum!
We’re chillaxin’ for a bit and then setting out on our family hike
Gillian G. @ When Bread Is Broken says
We had a cranberry sauce with orange + dried cherries that was to die for – and I don’t even LIKE cranberry sauce! And I have made your mom’s recipe for pumpkin chiffon before – it’s to die for! Enjoy your beachy weather! 🙂
Mom says
Glad you liked it! I think the color is always so pretty.
Jen says
I never thought of using it as a salad topper – delish. It can be a sweet alternative to salsa 🙂
Kath, it looks like your home is going to be the “go-to” house for family get-togethers!
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
oOoOo have fun on the hike!! I love how you guys enjoy the simplicity of life~ <3
Khushboo says
I way prefer your family’s way of spending Black Friday than the traditional sense!

It is just so beautifully sunny on that porch – amazing for food photography!

coolest porch ever. Looks like it even has views of the mountains!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Jealous of your cranberry on top of the salad. My husband made the leftover plate yesterday and he forgot the cranberry! Lunch was so sad without it 🙁
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Those leftovers look delicious! We had dinner at my cousins’s so no leftovers for us!
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
Your salad plate is exactly how I like my leftovers. A little bit of the good stuff piled on top of some greens. 😀

looks so yummmmy & that porch is really awesome, must be nice to be out in the gorgeous weather on it!

Oh I love this! And really nice job with the edit too. Having a photograph rather than a photoshopped collage is so much nicer. Just curious though, how did you get up above things to take the photo? Did you use a tripod or mount of some sort, or just get way up above to take the photo downward?
KathEats says
I do use a tripod a lot of the time…but I’m not sure which photo you mean?
Ellen Einkauf Photography says
oh so sorry, i just realized i posted on the wrong blog for this second post! wow too much turkey, making me sleepy lol

Sounds like a perfect day! It’s around 60 in Boston right now and sooooo nice. I was in NH for Thanksgiving and they got 10 inches of snow last week! So happy it was just rain where I live.

Fab leftovers! Yum 🙂
Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl says
Have fun on your hike! Salad looks yum. There is awesome weather here in So. Cal, too. Just got back from a fun hike in the snow. And then devoured leftovers! 😉
Zoe @ loseweightandgainhealth says
Are you doing a 3 mile walk and then a hike in one day? It’s so impressive how much you exercise and great that all your family join in too.
Alaina says
The best part about Thanksgiving is the leftovers!! 😀
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says

My family went for a hike after a lunch of leftovers today! So nice!
Meaghan O'Connor (My Spoonful of Inspiration) says
Aren’t Thanksgiving leftovers the best? We whipped out ours for dinner as well 🙂
Mary Legare Whaley says
I love how traditional Thanksgiving foods make the PERFECT salad ingredients. My mom and I make a killer cornbread dressing (sweet/soft croutons, sort of), sweet potato soufflé topped with almonds (who doesn’t love sweet potatoes on a salad?), chunky cranberry sauce (hate the word “chunky” but love when it’s cranberries), and squash/zucchini/tomato pie. I hope to enjoy a few salads topped with those festive side dishes. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving weekend! Enjoy that awesome weather. I haven’t seen a single cloud in the sky (in Charleston, SC) for 2 whole days. Couldn’t ask for more! =)
Cupcake Kat says
That salad looks delicious. I wish it were Thanksgiving in Canada again so I could make it
Julia H. @ The Petite Spiel says

Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
I never thought of putting all the leftovers on top of a salad… genius!!!
Donna says
Is the porch screened in? It looks like the sliding doors have so much space underneath that lots of bugs and mosquitoes could get in.
KathEats says
It’s not finished yet!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
y’all must be loving that porch, especially with this amazing VA weather we have!
Kelly @ Foodie Fiasco says
