There’s new yoga in town: Pop Up Yoga!
Pop Up Yoga strives for affordable classes ($10 each) and hosts pop-up yoga classes in a variety of open spaces around town. BUT they also have a new quazi-studio space (I said quazi because it’s shared with a dance tango studio).
Why am I so excited for Pop Up? Vinyasa flow classes, music, and the cool factor. My favorite style!
Mat on bike!
Jacqueline is the founder and she led the first studio class today. Although unfortunately her phone broke so there was no music, the class was still great. All my favorite poses! I can tell it was good because I have that headachy detox feeling. It’s been SO long since I’ve been a regular yoga practicer. Need to work on that! My shoulders and upper body are already sore.
Back at home I’ve been trying to get to the bakery as fast as possible but I got too hungry and then too many emails arrived! This week has just felt crazy to me. I don’t know if it’s the looming trip tomorrow or just a general increase in things to do, but I’ve only felt calm twice this week: during dance class and yoga today!
I threw together a quick lunch with leftover cuc + tomato salad, black beans, tomato sauce, an egg and Cville Crunch bread. Kind of a panzanella if you will!
And NOW I’m biking to the bakery so I can relieve Matt go to drink a beer (or something ; ) )
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Yay for yoga!! I love it!! Enjoy your afternoon at the bakery
Suzanne says
I just got done with lunch and that bowl made me drool!
I love yoga and that Pop Up Yoga sounds fun! Is that a water bottle beside our mat? Looks neat!
KathEats says
Yup! It’s a KOR bottle
Donna @ Life of a Happy Blonde says
Pop up yoga sounds so cool, i really need to get back to a class
Have fun at the bakery, i’m off to make some eggs, you have me inspired 🙂
Laura @ Cookies vs. Carrots says
What a fun concept for a yoga studio! I love the idea of changing places!
Andrea @ The Skinny Chronicles says
Pop Up Yoga sounds very refreshing. Sometimes the same ol’ yoga class over and over again can get pretty boring.
And have a great trip! Can’t wait for the recap.
Sophie says
The yoga class sounds great!! I am a vinyasa yoga enthusiast myself. And there is nothing better than my post yoga lunch! It always tastes awesome for some reason!
I love my yoga days — i feel great the rest of the day! I hope you do, too!
Hillary says
I haven’t done yoga in almost a year. My body needs it!
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance says
I’m sorry that you’ve been having trouble being calm 🙁 I can only imagine how much stress you’re under with all that you do!
Regardless, keep up the great work. We all appreciate your consistent blogging!
Katie of Cabbage Ranch says
I always feel hassled just before a trip. Good for you for sticking to your yoga!
Erika @ The Teenage Taste says
Your lunch looks delicious as usual! I love the addition of the egg! I’ve been on such an egg kick lately! 😀
Baking Serendipity says
I love the idea of pop up yoga! I have been out of the habit of attending yoga classes regularly and need to get back in it too 🙂
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Pop up yoga is such a neat idea!
Hilliary @ Happily Ever Healthy says
I want to get into taking regular yoga classes! I just haven’t found a place that I like yet! Enjoy your afternoon at the bakery!
Johanna B says
I haven’t done a yoga class in so long. I do DVD’s or my own routines most mornings before I get ready for work (around 5AM) but no companionship. I think I need to have people around me for awhile. It’s easy to get lazy in pozes when you don’t have others around. The pop-up idea sounds great.
Army Amy* says
I’m so inspired by the fact that you bike around town!*
Cait's Plate says
First a scuffin mobile and now a mat mobile! That is one multi purpose bike you have there 🙂 (let’s just pretend the scuffin mobile wasn’t Matt’s bike if it was)
Glad you got some yoga in your life! I always leave feeling so wonderful which makes me wonder why I don’t do it as consistently as I’d like.
I need that bread in my life!!
Christine (The Raw Project) says
The yoga sounds great, love that you bike to classes!
The Cville Crunch bread looks perfect, I want some!
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
Pop Up Yoga sounds like a great idea!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I could certainly afford to be more frequent with my yoga practicing as well!! Glad you got a class into your busy day though!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I am now going to eat a large salad with an egg on top. Thanks!! heh.
I so SO need to get back into yoga!!
Sheila says
Aren’t those moments of calm between the craziness so fantastic?! I can relate.
Keep our new bag, the Accel in mind if you are looking for another option for biking with your yoga mat (http://livewell360.com/shop/accel). It fits snuggly to your back when worn as a messenger (even on a bike), and the removable yoga mat straps make it not only the perfect yoga companion, but it works great as a day bag too.
Angel7 says
I need to start doing yoga again. I like how it tones one’s body, and makes one stronger!

I have a yoga mat carrier that I can wear like a backpack- perfect for biking!
Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me says
Or something? Are you being dirty!?!?! Or do I just have a gutter mind? 😉
Khushboo says
I need to bring yoga back in my life!
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Pop Up Yoga sounds cool! (just don’t ding up your brand new pedicure with any downward dog/toe rollover moves :))
“This week has just felt crazy to me. “-
Kath, you and me both! I flew to Boulder, here now, fly home later today. I have a big dinner event tomorrow night, then am seeing you 🙂 !! and then there are other events all weekend b/c of Blogher being in San Diego.
I have not felt calm really at all this week. Except for when I went out on a mountain alone last nite 🙂 Peace. Solitude. Beauty!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
That looks fantastic!! I did some yoga this moring, too. Was doing a sequence that I pulled from a magazine but ended up just doing flows that I remembered from various classes. Sometimes you just need to follow your body’s cues and mine was not liking what I was doing.
Kristen, Sweetly says
The mat in your bike looks hilarious… and a little precarious.
Yoga always makes me feel so great. I haven’t been to a good, good class in so long, though. Glad you at last had two moments of calm in your hectic week.
Maria says
I need to get to yoga, I forgot how much better it makes you feel. That bowl creation looks good!
occula says
That sounds awesome – like an open-faced huevos rancheros sandwich in a bowl (plus cukes, of course). Mmmmm!
Johanna B says
I have a goal for 2012. Too early to plan you say. Not at all. Sometime in late spring I’m going to attend one of the Pop Up yoga retreats. Something wonderful to look forward to and after all, that’s half the fun. I can hardly wait. Thanks for posting about them.
Kristin @ eat healthy. be happy. live well says
I always feel so much better after I do yoga! But, sometimes I just feel like I don’t have the time to slow down and relax to practice.
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Yoga sounds greats right now…haha wow your lunch looks so savory and delish 🙂
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
Pop up yoga is a real first for me! Never heard of it, although I’ve heard of pop up restaurants. I’ve been getting into yoga a lot again and it really helps in every single possible way, the benefits are endless! And it’s fun 🙂
Michelle says
One of these days I’m going to have to try an egg on top of a salad…but until then, I can’t help but go “ewww” … I’m SURE it’s great, it just doesn’t look right to me! 🙂
Hannah says
Here’s to less crazy, more calm for you next week!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
i’ve been making my hubby a lot of bread salads for lunch lately. adding a nice yolky egg would be great – if it didn’t have to be portable!
Shayla @ The Good Life says
Oooo love that salad…everything about it looks delish! 🙂
Sarah says
Holy delicious! That egg topped salad looks like it was the bomb! If you will 🙂
Speaking of favorite yoga positions… Specifically down dog, lately that position has been killing me!I mean, I feel liken all my blood is rushing to my head…. Like my head will explode if I dont get out of that position quick! I wander I wonder what the deal is??? Has anyone else experienced this??
Alison says
Yes! I thought it was just me! I took notice where Kath said “I have that headachy detox feeling”. We do a lot of down dog in my vinyasa class and sometimes I come home feeling crummy–even child’s pose is too much pressure sometimes. What’s up with that??
Lisa | Life in Green says
Love the idea of pop up classes. I’m soon going to be teaching a class that will be super cheap (5 bucks) as its just a way for me to get in some more yoga!
Lexi @ A Spoonful of Sunshine says
That looks like an amazing combination of breakfast + lunch, especially with the egg and bread. I was never a big fan of the runny yolk as a kiddo, but I think if I tried it now, I’d like it much more!
Aine @ Something to Chew Over says
I love yoga! I practice at home as classes are so expensive and I can’t always make them fit into my schedule.
Angela says
I have that yoga mat!!
