It’s been a while since I’ve been to a cycle class! Enjoyed one immensely this morning. I need to get back to doing one class a week. I just hate the dark room and being tied down for a full hour (during my normal gym routines I can switch up my activity every 20-30 mins and it keeps me from getting bored). But today’s class was good. I went early because we’re hitting the road as soon as I’m off work to get to Asheville in time for dinner!
I wasn’t hungry when I got up this morning, but I put a little of the Vega Sport powder in my water bottle to prevent mid-workout hunger. It worked really well – I wasn’t even that hungry for breakfast! I think Brendan is on to something…
It tasted a bit gross – like green + black tea with lime in it. It has yerba mate – I think that’s the taste I detected. But it seemed to have worked!
So you know in GaGa’s "Poker Face" when she says "Oh. Oh-oh. Oh Oh. Oh."?
I’ve been singing "Dough. Dough-dough. Dough dough. Dough." since assembling this Great Harvest Flax Oat Bran sandwich breakfast. I didn’t toast the bread because I wanted it to be super doughy – and it is!
I started photographing breakfast inside because I’m short on time. But I couldn’t stand it the photos were so awful! Outside we go…
The difference between auto white balance and "cloudy" white balance
2 thick slices doughy FOB with half a mashed banana (for glossiness) and a spread of Nuttzo and Maranatha Dark Choco Almond Butter!! SO GOOD!
Eaten with a mini fork!
This nice insta-cup of coffee is a Starbucks Via! I have no time to clean a french press this morning. I really like instant coffee for days when I’m in the mood and in a pinch! Italian Roast is def. NOT my favorite, but it was just what I needed today. I find the Vias to be really strong and thick – just like french press and WAY better than Starbucks drip coffee.
HAPPY FRIDAY!

I just recently tried the Starbucks VIA & was pleasantly surprised at how good it was for instant coffee!
Wei-Wei says
Hmm, the difference in the photos is incredibly dramatic… I love photography and I’m really into that kinda thing. I use natural light whenever possible 🙂
Awesome looking breakfast! You got Dough-er Face stuck in my head now. Dough, Dough-dough, dough, dough, dou-ou-ou-ou-ou-ough… 😀

Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
I’ve never tried VIA. but I’d be surprised if it’s better than drip coffee.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I’ve been turned off instant coffee ever since I tried this disgusting supermarket kind. But I’m sure Starbucks has found a way to make it more drinkable. I’ll have to give their VIAs a try! 🙂
Erin says
Yummy breakfast! I made my first SIAB today (just frozen banana, PB and almond milk) and it tasted like delicious ice cream for breakfast. 😀
Jil @ Peace, Love & Munchies says
Mmmm, that breakfast looks great!! Have so much fun on your trip!

I would like to eat that bread right off the computer screen! (The chocolate one is especially calling my name…)
Glad you enjoyed the spin class – sometimes I like it for a good change of pace – but I always prefer riding outside.
Teresa says
Are there any secrets or tricks to good french press coffee? I’ve tried to make it a couple times at home and despite the amount of grinds I use, it never turns out well. Thanks!
Kath says
I have a video on it! Google You Tube “Kath French Press”

Oh gosh, your breakfast looks SO GOOD!!! YUM!! That’s one of my favorite things about GH.. the doughiness of the bread!
Courtney R. says
Do you think you need to get special shoes for spinning or do you think regular shoes are ok. I can’t go more than once a week but I really need to change up my XT days and I would like to go to my gym’s spinning class but I don’t know if I won’t to spend money on extra stuff.
Thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed Wicked!! I go Sunday and I am going to eat at 300 East. Have you ever eaten there?
Kath says
You don’t NEED spin shoes. They just make it more comfortable and easier. Plenty of people wear tennis shoes though.
jaclyn@todays lady says
I love how you added half a banana “for glossiness”! So cute!!
I haven’t tried those Starbucks instant coffees yet but its good to know that they’re good! Happy Friday to you too!!!!
Hayley @ Breath of Fire says
The only thing stopping me from trying spin is the special shoes! Or maybe I’m just secretly scared and the shoes are an excuse- an hour strapped to a bike is a little intimidating!
Sarah Snacks says
you don’t have to have special shoes for spinning- I use my workout sneakers and I still burn just as many calories. 🙂
Kath says
See my comment 2 above!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
hahaha with that song I always sing it “Can’t ride my, can’t ride my pogo stick..po-po-po-po pogo stick.” 😀 That breakfast looks delicious! Can’t go wrong with PB & banana especially if it’s chocolate PB!!

Arghg– Kath, I have had that song stuck in my head ALL week, and I finally got it out only to read this post….BACK IN! Lol.
I love doughy things. The doughier, the better!

Why does such a simple breakfast look so darn amazing!

Lindsay @ Summit Sandwiches says
I’m glad to hear that those starbucks singles actually taste good! I’ve been curious about trying them out on some early morning when I’m out in the woods camping or backpacking and don’t have access to my coffee maker (obviously). Sounds like we might have a winner here folks.
Katie@peacebeme says
Your breakfast looks delicious! I hate oatmeal so I was happy to see this one 🙂
I might try the Starbucks instant coffee – I HATE their drip coffee and normally always make french press at home (with another brand), but if it’s different than their drip I might give it a try. Have a great weekend!
Ashley says
Mmmm doughy gooey breakfast!!! I have never been to a spin class but am LOVING cycling!! 🙂 Have a fabulous weekend…you deserve it! I am so freaking excited about August as well!!!
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Great way to start out your Friday! I can never keep my camera on the auto settings… it never turns out as well as when I tweak it!
Kellie says
I love doughy bread. Whenever I do toast my bread I do it very light so it is just slightly toasted on the outside, but still doughy on the inside.
Sarah Snacks says
mix your vega sport with 1/2 juice and 1/2 water and that will take care of the funny kind of taste. that stuff rocks though!
Natalie @ Keep It Sassy says
Are those special spinning shoes? I’m still trying to get my butt into a class. For some reason they’re just so intimidating! Happy Friday!
Kristi says
Kath, I haven’t been able to read your blog since my husband and I left for the Peace Corps in February. It was nice catching up with you this morning from my workspace here in Honduras…but sure made me miss wheat bread, and flavored peanut butters (any peanut butter is a luxurious find here)!!
Kath says
