Hope I’m spelling that right! Google had many variations.
I almost played hooky from lunch and was going to just buy something at the hospital. But then I got to craving yogurt and thought I’d just pack yogurt and fruit and get a salad at the hospital. But then I remembered I had spinach to use up and avocado and soon enough I had 100% of lunch pack!! Next week I’m going to give myself and break and buy lunch. But I’ll wait until we’re low on food!
The Amazing 5 Minute Lunchbox
A packed-in salad of spinach, avocado, zucchini, carrot all drizzled in olive oil, agave and sea salt
A couple of olive Food Should Taste Goods
S-burries
And a Voskos with almonds. I am enjoying these Voskos‘s SO MUCH. The organic plain may be the best greek yogurt I’ve had. It’s sooooo silky. And the flavoreds are good too. I think Siggi’s flavoreds are my favorite because they are so very thick and tart but these are a close second.
[These are my lunchbox almonds that I nibble off of when I need a few at the end of lunch or mid afternoon as a compliment to a piece of fruit so I’ll steal like 5-7 for my yogurt]
I’m sure tomorrow I’ll be glad I packed all this great food and saved $10!
Fra-fra-fra-Friday!
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says
Your lunches are always so colourful, healthy and tasty looking 🙂 the cafeteria must have amazing food if you’re thinking about having some!
Have a fab afternoon – jsut a few more hours to go then you can relax!!
Jessica @ How Sweet says
I am dying to try some Voskos. But Siggi’s is my favorite and if it isn’t as good as Siggi’s, I guess I don’t need to try. 🙂
Lindsay @ Summit Sandwiches says
Your mini-spoon is so cute! Where did you get it?
Emily says
Crate & Barrel – and they’re really inexpensive, too! I can’t find them in colors though 🙁 Maybe I’m not looking hard enough!
Lindsay @ Summit Sandwiches says
Thanks! I’m going to try to pick some up over the weekend. I love miniature things, so a mini spoon would be right up my alley. It would also help me to eat slower, which is something I’m working on! If I don’t control myself, I can literally inhale my dinner. It’s not pretty.
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
I always love how you have a lot of small snacks for your lunch instead of a heaping bowl of chili. It makes it seem like you have a much bigger meal than you actually are eating.
Stacy (StacyGrowsHealthy) says
I’m sure you will be happy. I hate spending $10 on lunch at my office. I generally end up tired after a purchased lunch as well b/c I ussually end up eating too much when I buy it.
Jenn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
That lunch beats hospital food! 🙂

Jenny says
That looks like a fantastic lunch! Definetly worth saving $10!
Camille says
Gorgeous strawberries!
Lisa says
How do you pack so much stuff for lunch? I have a pretty small lunch box that I use and I’d rather not carry a huge bag…
shannon (the daily balance) says
glad to hear you like voskos! i’ll have to give ’em a try!
Robyn @ Frugal 'n' Fit! says
In Canada, we have exactly one brand of Greek yogurt to try. I am so jealous of your variety!
Andrea (Sweet N Green) says
I love Voskos, too! The honey flavored one is my fav. I really want to try Siggi’s but I just can’t bring myself to pay that much for it! Maybe one day..
Wei-Wei says
I do believe that’s the right spelling, with a Y at the end. 😀 It’s so awesome that you can just whip up such a lovely, healthy lunch so quickly. It’s so colourful 😀
Happy FRIDAY! Make sure you relax. 🙂

Sassy Molassy says
I love that feeling of saving an extra $5-10 by just throwing what you have in your cupboards/fridge together in a creative way. I rarely buy lunch, but when I do, I really want to make sure it’s quality and yummy since my homemade lunches are cheap, healthy and delish.
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life says
Working in a school, I have to pack my lunch EVERYDAY…otherwise it’s chicken patties or burned pizza! 😉 I’ve learned to accept and embrace the packed lunch…but there are definitely days I’d rather go out and grab a big ‘ol salad!
Emily Eats and Exercises says
I’m always impressed with how dedicated you are about packing your lunches. Good to hear that you sometimes want a break though. 😉
Erin says
I usually prefer to bring my own lunch, although sometimes a splurge is necessary. 😉 I’ve been running around so much this week that my fridge is PACKED with food that needs to be eaten pronto.
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
yummmmmmmm…sometimes it’s good to eat out, but it’s awesome you listened to your body and packed something amazing for you!
Claire says
I have the same little container of almonds for when I need a little more! It definitely has helped me at times. The 5 min lunch looks and sounds great lady.
Deirdre says
Friday is the only day I allow myself to buy lunch. I view it as my Friday treat since I used to buy lunch every day. What a waste of money and calories!
Ashley@thehungryscholar says
As an English teacher, I accept your spelling of hooky. Happy Friday!
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
i like lunches like this – tasting plates!

TGIF – seriously 😉

Very economical and just about hits all the food groups and textures, too.
Paige (Running Around Normal) says
Haha – playing Hooky from your lunch – cute:)
Lunch looks delicious, so I’m glad you decided against that 😉
JENNA says
🙂 dontcha love when that happens?…i sort of get really excited about packing my lunches and even though a break is needed every so often its fun to pack your own lunch. its so easy too!
Kellie says
Thanks for reviewing the voskos. I saw it today at the store, but I wasn’t sure if it was good, now I can try it!
Kristin (Salty Tooth) says
The Voskos sounds so good, but I can never find it by me. Maybe I need to look harder!
Veggielady4life says
I can relate to being too tired to pack a lunch sometimes. But you are right… you’ll always be glad the next day. Lunch out can be tasty… but it sure is expensive!
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
Voskos is SO GOOD! I’m loyal to Fage but Voskos is much cheaper.
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Your lunch looks way better than any cafeteria food could ever be (even the really good ones!) Everything is so fresh and perfect. Love it!
I couldn’t agree more about the Voskos. I’ve only tried the fig flavored one so far and *loved* it. It’s great with chopped dates, because it adds that “fig newton” chewy touch. 😀
Simply Life says
I’m with you and cannot see the sense in wasting good food already paid-for at home for a meal out – I think it makes sense to plan ahead and wait for when you’re low on food to splurge!
Annie @ stronghealthyfit says
Yummy yummy yummy lunch! I am missing greens here in Budapest 🙁
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
It’s crazy how expensive it is to buy things at work/school. My campus has somw awesome eateries but at some of them it costs over $15 for a small garden salad and fruit. That’s ridiculous. Packing’s always better! You get exactly what you want and save tons of cash 🙂
Helen says
I always think it’s better to take your own lunch rather than buying something. Not only do you save money you also ensure you eat healthily. My friend at work always buys lunch and then complains that she has no money! I hope work was ok, it’s nearly the weekend!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Sometimes it’s so hard to work up the motivation to pack a lunch! But they usually taste 100x better than a lunch you have to buy. 🙂
Ashley says
I hate not sleeping. (just read your previous post) I for sure go through periods of that especially with school. My best trick is switching pillows to the opposite of the bed, it may get a little funny with your husband in the bed, but it works for my boyfriend and I (who is over 6 feet) Or another trick is switching sides of the bed….
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
Sometimes you want to eat out, but when you already have things at home to make a great lunch you might as well make it and eat at another time. I get it. 🙂
felicia says
Great Blog!!!..Eating right is essential!..I make a goal of eating healthy, love trader joes and wholefoods..and I take liquid vitamins that taste good..found them on a site called www.foundmycurves.com.. Thanks for the Blog..Keep them coming!!!
Hannah says
I do agree about saving $10 *most of the time*, but I hope you treat yourself to a nice bought lunch sometimes! Even if it ain’t Voskos 😉 Just think of all us poor folks living in countries where Voskos ain’t… 😀
Katherine says
5 mins is amazing; great accomplishment on the time-front
Lorin says

Erin @ The Houndstooth Apron says
I did a Greek Week at my blog in April, and I really loved Voskos. It’s tasty and I was really happy with the nutritional stats.
