I’m eating breakfast without my cronies today – guess everyone is too sleepy to come to breakfast!? You couldn’t PAY me to skip breakfast!!!
My company today is Jennifer of LJCFYI and Tricia of Cheeky Attitude. And they introduced me virtually to (Never Home) Maker – cute blog!
I started my day in a daze – too much food and wine – oof! Hoping to balance that out today with lots of fruits and vegetables 🙂
[HEY NYC: Anyone want to meet for a green juice and power walk around 5PM?]
I made some coffee in the room while I got dressed – I really like the Starbucks African blend that is often in hotels.
And arrived at breakfast. You can’t go wrong with lots and lots of choices.
Breakfast today was sponsored by Quaker…so I knew oats had to be involved
And there were many fun toppings [a preview of Quaker sponsorship of the Healthy Living Summit!!]
Spotted: a new kind of muffin! I love muffins with crumbly tops
SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLAIN YOGURT!! I really don’t like flavored yogurts – except a select few. And when I have yogurt for breakfast with toppings, I love the contrast of tart plain vs. topping. But you never find plain yogurt in public.
Thank you BlogHer, Dannon and Hilton for the plain yogurt!!
I combined two foods normally served in bowls onto a plate –
Plain yogurt in the middle, oatmeal and berries on the side, topped with pecans and cinnamon.
Love all the berries!!!
I took about 1/3 of this raisin bran muffin and crumbled it on top –
And I hear honey is good for hangovers!?
The finished plate – it was awesome!!
Plus more coffee
Going to get a bit of work done this morning on my laptop and then hit the sessions
[Still love typing with orange nails!!]
Nicole says
I love your orange nails too. That breakfast looks yummy and is making me hungry!
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says

Aw, I wish I were in NYC for a walk + juice–that sounds like fun. If I left Texas now, I *think* I could make it in time!
Here’s hoping the honey did the trick 🙂 Happy Saturday, everyone!
Trish @IamSucceeding says
I did not really want to go to blog her but each post I am reading of your time is making think I might need to check out a blogger conference sometime soon!
Evan Thomas says
I don’t know if honey is good for hangovers, but when is it not good?
Chelsey says
Yum!
I’m looking for a recipe you posted a while ago – it was a slow cooker recipe, kind of like a mexican stew with beans, tomatoes, avocado? I can’t find it!!!
Chelsey says
never mind! I found it! gotta love those tags on the side of your site!!!
Kath says
Oh good!!
Ella @ The Princess and the P says
That breakfast looks AMAZING – and so do your nails!! Do you remember the name of the color? Love love!

I love NeverHome Maker, I just “found” their website earlier this week, it’s great. Your breakfast plate looks awesome! Way to take advantage of a buffet. You’re making me want to paint my nails… and I hate painting my nails, haha 🙂

And I agree. No money in the world could keep me from having breakfast. 😉

What a beautiful breakfast! You always know how to make oatmeal wonderful!
Have a great day and if I were in NYC I’d want to meet up for juice/walk! Maybe Blogher should meet in MN next year 🙂
Meg says
Dannon plain yogurt is the best (in my opinion) besides Greek. I just love the flavor of it, and it pairs great with so many goodies! Those berries look amazing! Quaker certainly did a fantastic job – very KERF-y of them 😉
Enjoy your day and your orange nails! Wish I was in NYC so I could go on your 5pm adventure! Booo! Next time 😀
Whitney @ Whitinspired says
That breakfast looks divine. Love the orange nails 🙂
tanyasdaily says
nice breakfast and you didn’t have to cook it..that is the best part
Victoria says
If you’re around the Times Square area you should definitely go for your power walk around Bryant Park – it’s not too far away and it’s a really fun environment (right by the NY Public Library too, one of my favorite places ever!)
I wish I could meet! I was over in that area all day yesterday but I have to work today 🙁 have fun though!
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
i’m a plain jane too when it comes to my yogurts. which is funny bc i used to be obsessed with the fruit on the bottom!!!
Callie says
That looks so good!
I’m used to seeing oats in bowls, but a plate seems to work just as well. 🙂

Haha, I never thought I’d say this since my whole life I wasn’t a breakfast person but I started eating breakfast several months ago and now I couldn’t go without if I wanted to!
Faith @ lovelyascharged says
total second! Back when I was struggling through an eating disorder I prided myself on never touching breakfast…now, seriously, one of my first thoughts in the morning is “what do I get to eat!?!” I skipped it one day because I was in such a rush that I had to choose between food and not wearing pajamas to work…I was a miserable, moody, unfocused mess!
Nancy @ The Wife of a Dairyman says
I love the oatmeal mix you put together and to top it all with crumbled muffin and honey sounds great. I haven’t eaten breakfast yet here in CA but now I need to:) Hungry!
Chelsea (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun) says
If you’re looking for great green juice/smoothie options in NYC, there’s a wonderful place called “Liquiteria” in the East Village (I think of E13th and 1st Ave) that has a plethora of vitamin-packed, organic blends.
Love your breakfast plate, it looks divine!
Run Sarah says
You always come up with the best selections at breakfast buffets – great idea with the oatmeal & yogurt combo!
Wei-Wei says
HAhaha I love how you had oatmeal on a plate! My mom once put oatmeal on a plate when I was in a hurry to go to school, it would have been too hot otherwise 😉
Wei-Wei
Marina says
Your breakfast combo looks so delicious! Honey for a hangover? I should try that 😀
Annie@stronghealthyfit says
That looks so delicious! I love blackberries. Did you finish the rest of the muffin or chuck it?
Maya says
I love the variety of a good breakfast buffet that allows you so many options. I’m typing with gold nails and that’s pretty fun, too!
Jess says
I’m with you on the plain yogurt. Most flavored ones are usually too sweet for me. Funny too, ’cause I used to be all about the Light & Fit. Love the breakfast combo. Oats and yogurt is definitely on my weird-but-good list.
If you’re near midtown, Juice Generation on 9th and 45thish has great green juices.
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
Haha that is the plate of a serious foodie!

Looks like a delicious breakfast – glad you could find some plain yogurt.
Simply Life says
Oh that breakfast would definitely get me up at 3am if it was necessary! 🙂
Angela (The Lady Loves to Eat) says
I agree with the plain yogurt! If there are going to be toppings on my yogurt anything but plain is just way too sweet!

That looks absolutely delicious! I love crumbly top muffins as well! 🙂

this might just have convinced me to try plain yogurt… 🙂
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
i love that you even have a great bowl of oats on vacation too! so beautiful!
Meghan says
Have you tried the pomegranate Chobani yogurt? It’s got a bit of sugar (19g), but it’s a non-fat one so that kind of balances it out. 🙂
Ash Bear says
The breakfast plate looks delicious! I love how you took oatmeal and used a plate versus the expected normal route. I was SO excited when I found plain yogurt yesterday. I feel like flavored yogurts are just a cup of sugar.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Ooh that looks like such a yummy breakfast! I’ve never tried having yogurt with hot oatmeal!
elaine! says
I think the best hangover “cure” is to drink a TON of water before you go to sleep, and maybe throw in some B-vitamins too. It worked when I turned 21 at least. 😀
Ashley M. [at] (never home)maker says
Thanks for the shout, Kath! I’ve been enjoying your blog for a while now — just not a regular commenter 🙂 Happy Saturday! Hope you’re having a blast!
christine louise says
I love your orange fingernails!! My favorite part of your post. (: What is the color?
Hannah says
OMG, then I definitely need honey right now! Up until last night, I’d had two alcoholic drinks in this entire year… and last night was beer, wine, and shots. I feel very odd, and I want a crumbly muffin. 😛
