I’m still trying to pack in as much as possible before baby time, which could be in 10 minutes or 10 days from now – who knows!
I literally jumped off my afternoon call, brushed my teeth lightening fast, and zoomed over to the dentist for a 3pm appointment.
I was scared – I have been drinking swigs of lemonade during the night for a trimester without doing much anything to protect my teeth from the juice’s sugar. Having a cavity drilled this week would have been awful mentally. Having one drilled with a newborn – not convenient at all. Waiting months and months – not good either.
Sooooo……you can imagine my JOY when I left the dentist cavity free!!!!
I promise teeth, I will stop the lemonade in 10 minutes or 10 days – who knows!
After the dentist I rushed home, ate two big dates smothered in almond butter, and left for prenatal yoga.
I’m going to miss this class SO much!! Just now at the end, I have become friends with some of the other women and it will be so sad not to see everyone every week. I really wish there was a post-natal yoga class where we could go to chat about motherhood while holding downward facing dog over our babies. (Well there is at Bend but it won’t be quite the same group!)
After a gorgeous walk home, Matt put dinner on the table.
Chicken sausage “hot dogs”
Okra fries
And roasted beets
I really tried, but I could only eat three beet slices. My palate was just not into them. I also left some okra on my plate. But the hot dog hit the spot!
I can tell this is one of those nights where I’m going to need a bedtime snack – I’m already hungry again! And I’m hoping it keeps me sound asleep tonight…

I have a dentist appt this weekend and I’m pretty sure I have 3290 cavities from eating candy while running :).
val @ lots of dishes says
those are some pretty beets…and i don’t even like beets:)
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
your dinner looks so delicious, every bit of it! I loooove roasted veggies!
Cait's Plate says
Chicken sausage “hot dogs” are my favorite 🙂 Also, there’s NOTHING better than cavity-free dentist visits!
Nikki says
Hmmm…you brush your teeth before the dentist? I wonder how many people do this! It’s kind of interesting, since they will be brushing your teeth even more thoroughly once you get there…
KathEats says
I always have! Don’t want food in them making a bad first impression!
Sandra says
I always brush my teeth before going to the dentist as well and make sure not to eat garlic the night before. Personally I think it is probably one of the worst jobs in the world and you couldn’t pay me enough to fish around in peoples mouths – especially if they haven’t brushed beforehand.
Lynda says
Me too:)
Andrea says
My dentist expects you to!
Amanda M says
I brush before the dentist. The dentist I went growing up and as a young adult even had a place to brush before going in. The military has to brush your teeth before the dentist (at least in my experience!). I think its quite common.
Julie says
I cannot imagine not brushing before the dentist. I brush & floss before my dentist appointments. I would be embarrassed if I showed up to a dental appointment with plaque and/or food particles on my teeth.
Elisabeth says
I always brush, Listerine & floss! I can’t imagine going with dirty teeth 😉
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
I love hearing about the anticipation!! Beautiful dinner. Those beets look amazing.
Eileen says
Oh, you should get your friends to join you in Baby & Me yoga! It was one of my favorite things I did with my firstborn. He loved rolling around on the yoga mat, and it was one place where I always felt 100% comfortable nursing in public and not embarrassed if he cried.
alex m says
At least swish with water after your lemonade if you are going to go back to bed! Lemonade is very acidic and the water will help so it doesn’t sit on your teeth while you sleep
Eileen says
And to clarify my previous comment … I had a little trouble understanding that sometimes, babies just cry. I wasn’t embarrassed about him, just felt like if I were doing everything right, he wouldn’t cry, and that is soooooooo not the case!
The Healthy Apple says
I want okra now…hehe.
Miss you; hope you are well!! So excited for baby kerf soon!
Megan @ Megan's Munchies says
I had chicken sausage tonight too! Love it!
Tiffany says
As usual dinner and pictures look great! 🙂
I was so surprised when I saw your morning post and you had toast for breakfast. lol I was expecting yummy oatmeal.
How do you cook your Okra?
Have a great evening!
KathEats says
I only have hot oats a few days a week 🙂
This was oven roasted okra
Carly @ Snack Therapy says
The dentist always gives me anxiety- I HATE cavities! (Although, in all fairness, who doesn’t?) So glad you’re cavity free and ready for the little one : ).
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
okra and beets — that sounds delish to me right now!
j3nn says
The anticipation must be so overwhelming! So hard not to think about it every second, I imagine. Hope he comes soon!!
mary @ minutespermile says
never tried roasted beets like that! added to my list…
Katie says
Did you ever try eating more throughout the day so that maybe you don’t get hungry during the night? I know you don’t post everything you eat on the blog but it doesn’t seem like you eat enough throughout the day — just by judging the amount of food you eat at each meal. Just a thought for you!
KathEats says
Yes, I’m trying that with the bedtime snacks. Worked two nights ago but not last night.
Molly @ RDexposed says
Believe it or not-my dentist and I would drink a Coke together everyday after elementary school. Only 1 cavitiy in the 4 years! ha
Chelsea @ Dine & Dash Diaries says
Hi Kath –
How long do you roast the okra “fries” for? Do you season them with anything other than S&P? They look simple and delish and I need to give ’em a try.
KathEats says
Olive oil and about 40 minutes in a 400* oven 🙂
Morgan says
This is random, but I remember seeing a fun yellow radio on your blog. I was wondering where you got it. Thanks!
KathEats says
Here’s the post about it 🙂

I’ve been on a make-everything-into-fries kick as of late, and having just moved south I really feel like I need to learn how to make okra fries! I’ve just been a little nervous, but you’ve inspired me. I think this week is the week. I’m going to take the plunge!
Spice Chicken says
Feta would make the roasted beets tastier!
Tracy says
Sad to have you leave your yoga group! You should spread the word around your current class to meet up at Bend post births.
Carin says
This might seem a stupid question , but do you eat the tops of the roasted okra or cut them off and leave them on the plate? Are they tender?
KathEats says
I leave them on the plate – they are a bit hard to chew 🙂
