^^ Loving our new table!!
Last night we had some new friends over for pizzas and beer. I love a formal dinner party, but we are happiest entertaining with our tried-and-true favorite pizzas coming out of the oven one after another. I think our group went through 4 whole pizzas last night!
You-know-who loooooves Matt’s pizza as well : )
Our friends brought salad, cake and wine to share. Loved this salad with walnuts, pears and feta on top!
I probably had 5 smallish pieces of pizza and an equal amount of glasses of wine. So much for getting back into weight loss mode!
Plus I was not going to pass up this dessert!
Our friend loves to bake and brought a Blueberry Marble Cake (I think this is it because the topping looks the same!) Deeeeelicious! Especially the frosting!
This morning I was craving something healthy, so I made a smoothie for two with 3/4 cup milk, half a banana, ~1 tbsp peanut butter, and spinach. Plus some Vega that my friend Alice gave me for a bit more flavor and protein. A small slice of raspberry toast on the side.
What’s your favorite dish to serve company?
Kori says
Everything looks perfect! I’m sure Matt’s pizzas are fantastic, and that cake is incredible. I so love your new table! You always have fun linens too. 🙂
Linda @ The Fitty says
Speaking of pizza, have you ever attempted to make a homemade, stuffed crust? I’m thinking either cheese or beef!
Matt says
I’ve tried this so many times and it just doesn’t work like I want. It usually ends up unrolling, or all the cheeze oozes out, or it forms huge air bubbles. I guess it requires cheese that isn’t real cheese!
Meg says
Mazen looks so cute watching the pizza coming out of the oven. I bet he loves to help make pizzas 🙂 Stuffed crust pizza is actually really easy to make! I cut string cheeses in half lengthwise and fold the crust over them and pinch to seal. Just roll out the crust a little bigger than you normally would. It’s delicious, and there’s no fake cheese necessary!
Chelsea @ Designs on Dinner says
I’ve used string cheese and rolled right around it. Egg or water sealed tight!
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
your new kitchen looks SO pretty! My favorite dishes to serve company are casseroles or crock pot meals that I can prep in advance and then easily serve 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I have been craving pizza for ages! I might have to just make my own!
Amy G. says
I LOVE homemade pizza! But the last time we had a guest for dinner, I whipped up some very meaty, very cheesy, and not very healthy stuff shells – but they were a massive hit! 🙂 If it had been up to me, I would have been stuffing with spinach and if I hadn’t been lazy I would have made a salad. I know, horrors. It was pure carb and meat heaven.
Ashley says
Love your new table! Where did you find the metal, rounded chairs? They’re just what I’ve been looking for!
KathEats says
They are these from RH!
Melissa says
Company meal for me is either spaghetti (which I am going to brag and say I make pretty well), or tacos 🙂
I love that picture of Maven at the table 🙂
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
Blueberry Marble cake?! Yum! And I love pizza nights!
Maggie says
all of the food/wine/cake looks delicious!
i love your new kitchen and the table/chairs. exactly the decor i’d want when the time comes to purchase a home!

I love to cook so I am always trying new things for dinner parties, but I am NOT into baking so dessert is always a challenge for me. A couple years ago, I came up with the idea to make a milkshake with vanilla ice cream and chocolate stout beer. I bought a set of matching double shot glasses to serve it in with a side of warm chocolate chip cookies. It’s always a hit and so easy! Confession: I just use the break and bake cookies from the grocery store.

That Blueberry Marble cake looks amazing (especially on the new table 🙂 ). I think it might need to be shared on the blog soon! <- this is me begging you!
I love making pulled pork or some sort of roast and a vibrant salad when people come over. It's so no-fuss, it's fancy but not too fancy and it is all around nutritious. I always try to insert a little nutrition here and there since I tend to eat a little more rounded than the rest of my friends 🙂

Your new kitchen looks lovely!! And homemade pizza, yum. I just found this great recipe for chocolate molten cakes made in cupcake pans that is the perfect dessert for company! Pre-portioned, the batter is made ahead of time and then just popped in the oven for ten minutes. My guests were impressed.
Unrelated, but the way your blog is showing up on my iPhone is very different. Some parts of the new layout are great (bigger pics, larger font, no resizing needed), but the posts are cut off by huge ads at several different points. Just wanted you to be aware that it makes the experience less pleasing for mobile readers, in case you haven’t checked it out yet. 🙂
KathEats says
Thanks! We’re just getting started with mobile and it will take some tweaking. Feel free to send me screenshots of anything really wonky

I recently had a bunch of people over for an evening of pancakes and party games. Who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner? The pancakes were a hit – we had a topping bar that you could add in during cooking, or after (depending on the topping). It was the first time I’d done that – I usually serve more traditional dinner foods – and it was a grand success.
KathEats says
That sounds so fun!

Kath, I’m loving the new site design! I’m currently on my phone using the mobile version – the pictures for each post are so bold and big. Love it! The only downside are the ads. I’m no dummy, girl needs ads to make a buck, but they’re everywhere. Maybe better if you’re font were different. Some were difficult to tell if it was an ad or your writing. Again, I’m on the mobile version. Maybe the full site will be better. Can’t wait to see it!
KathEats says
We just debuted the mobile site. Thanks for the feedback!
Lisa says
I usually read your site on my iphone, but the redesign makes that pretty difficult! There are sooo many flashing ads and ads in the middle of content. It’s very distracting and hard to navigate. Go back to the old design pretty please?
KathEats says
The mobile design is here to stay but we are still tweaking the layout. Thanks for the feedback. Ps. You can always “request desktop site” if you prefer the regular….I think!
Tracy says
In love with your table! Which size did you get?
Our go-to entertaining meal is serve yourself tacos with all the fixings, chips and dips. Easy and everyone loves Mexican! And margaritas! 😉

That cake looks AMAZING!
Lindsey @ Simply Lindsey says
Yum! Your table and kitchen are gorgeous!!
My favorite meal to serve company is pizza! I have a great homemade dough recipe that’s a big crowd pleaser. I like topping it with prosciutto, caramelized onions, and mushrooms. 🙂
Casey says
Oh, Kath!
The mobile version is super hard to read on my iPhone and I don’t see an option for desktop version anywhere. I know you rely on ads but this is too much. So sorry!
Em says
Hi Kath, I haven’t checked out the mobile version yet – but I’m finding that the font on the desktop site is not as easy to read as it was previously. It feels a bit like the text is squished. And because of the number and large size of the photos, it’s easy to miss bits of text as you scroll down. Just some feedback; new formats can be tricky to iron out and hopefully you can get the balance right soon!
Hannah @ eat, drink and save money says
Yum! My favorite thing to serve guests is a shrimp boil. It’s easy and fun!
Katie says
Hi Kath, just wanted to chime in here that on my computer your font is SUPER small! I am 32 and my eyes are not happy reading it 🙂 Hope you will consider returning to a larger font! Love your site and read it daily 🙂
KathEats says
I was just playing around – changed it back!!
Katie says
Still looks the same to me, just so you know! But I’m glad it was temporary, and I know it takes time to work out the kinks in any major overhaul!
KathEats says
It might take a little time for the cache to catch up. Thanks!
Kori says
I love your new header, Kath!
KathEats says
thanks!! Still tweaking – refresh! haha
Sarah says
I know you said you appreciated feedback on the new layout, and I can see that it has changed even as I’ve been catching up (reading a few days worth of posts in one sitting), but I’m really not digging it. I don’t like how all of YOUR content is on one side or the other as opposed to centered (the way it was before). I’d rather have smaller ads down both sides of the page than have an entire half of the screen be off topic. I’m on the desktop version.
Sam says
Dinner sounds so delicious. I love your new header, too (although I think the fresh veggies ones have always been my top favs). Just wanted to let you know that I’m reading from my Android and there are a ton of ads cutting up your post as well as the comments. Thanks!
Kelly says
Hi Kath,
Pizza looks awesome and Mazen is a cutie!
Love the table and chairs! Is the table from RH, too? I’ve been looking at their website… Which one is it? Thanks! ????
Have a great weekend 🙂
KathEats says
It’s Pottery Barn! This is it.
Kelly says
Thanks! :). I just looked at it again on your post and realized you already shared the link. Sorry!

Pizza, mmm mmm GOOD!

That table!!! Love the chairs too.
