Definitely sore this morning!!!
But nothing like 2 hours of house cleaning to loosen up the muscles!!!!!
My post is delayed because we’ve been cleaning and reorganizing. Since a few of the comments on our house have been that it feels a bit small (which is is!) we moved some furniture out into the garage and boxed up a whole bookshelf. I think it looks fantastic now!! Cross your fingers for our open house this afternoon.
EO Products sent me a few samples of their new all purpose cleaner to review. I just spent two hours with the PEPPERMINT flavor and had a wonderful aromatic experience 🙂 Loved it! It cleaned well too. I put some in a squirt bottle with water to dilute and cleaned bathrooms + the kitchen. I’m a big fan of peppermint smell while cleaning!
Going back to this morning…I woke up around 6:30 and considered getting up. But then I decided I had the time and NEEDED more sleep for my muscles to repair!! I’ve heard/read that you need extra sleep after a hard event, so I tried to dose off again. Successfully slept until 8:30! (Don’t you love // hate it when you wake up and don’t know what time it is and it feels like you slept through the morning!?). That would be 9.5 hours of sleep.
But not enough to make my muscles not sore! All things are sore today. I literally fell out of bed onto my foam roller, which helped me wake up some. And all the cleaning movement really helped too.
We had a delightful oatmeal breakfast at 9AM:
LOVE <3 my new orange spoon from Emily from Crate + Barrel!
Today’s Oat Mix
- 1/4 cup Bob’s Red Mill 10 grain hot cereal

Got some bubblez out of today’s double press!
Off to finally take a shower, possibly make lunch, then get outta here!!
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
Sounds like you needed that sleep! Sleep really does work wonders on the body. I don’t understand how people get by on a regular 6 hours… I need at least 8 nowadays!!!
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] says
I love your outside pictures on your mosaic table – they remind that Spring is here! : )
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
wow am i really first to comment?!
it is really funny how something as simple as a new spoon can enhance an eating experience, huh?
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
no i guess i wasn’t the first…waaah.
Amanda (Two Boos Who Eat) says
Definitely crossing my fingers for your open house! You’ll do great!
I love all 3 scents that EO sent you! Lavender <3
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says
Good luck with the open house thing! The whole morning spent cleaning….I can’t say I envy you(for once :p)
Enjoy lunch!

I loooove peppermint 😀 Lavender too, actually! Good luck with your open house, and what a mighty fine lookin’ bowl of oats, per usual 😉

How is your foot doing today? I had a minor foot injury after my first half-marathon that kept me hobbling around for a few weeks 🙁 I hope your feet are holding up well!
And I LOVE those Crate and Barrel spoons! I may have to buy a few when I visit Chicago in May. I was a poor grad student when I lived in the Windy City, so I was afraid to set foot in Crate and Barrel. My wallet curled up into the fetal position every time I thought about it 😉
Meghan@traveleatlove says
Foam rolling changed my life! Good luck on the open house today.
Laura @ youngDCliving says
Good luck with the option house! I love foam rollers, but I always can’t tell if pain is a good sign during rolling, or means I’m doing it wrong. Any suggestions?
Laura @ youngDCliving says
whoops…that was supposed to be “open” haha
Kath says
I’m really not a foam expert!! I say just go with your gut. If it’s too much pain to bear, back off?
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
Sunday’s are definitely made for cleaning. I just spring cleaned my whole house. And no I’m feeling like a run, since I have been flying around here this morning, I’m ready to keep going.
Daniel says
I know what you mean! Sometimes it’s a struggle to either sleep longer and feel more refreshed or wake up now and get the most out of the day~
I don’t know if you’ve ever tried amaranth before, but I had some for the first time a while ago, and decided to make some for breakfast this morning and I just can’t help myself from sharing this – it’s so delicious and creamy! Just curious if you’ve ever tried it. 🙂
Kath says
Love amaranth!
Pat Kilmain says
I’ve read that you need several days to recover from a long event….
Also, having subjected myselt to hours of HGTV when I was sick last month, less is more in terms of furniture in your house when it’s for sale. As one woman said it’s not about how you use, but how the seller envisions living there. Less furniture/stuff makes the rooms look bigger, and apparently impersonal is better as well (i.e. no family photos)
Christina says
I love the new spoon. Great color!
Paige says
You have the Mayor of Whoville in your cup!!
Brie (The Fit Bride) says
Good to known I wasn’t the only one sore after my race this morning! A nice long walk with the dog in the sunshine helped loosen everything up, though. Good luck with the open house!
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
Gorgeous pictures of your oats, girl! 🙂
Kim says
Isn’t it crazy how sore you get after a half? I was SHOCKED at how sore I was after my first one, I was well trained and had run similar distances before without soreness, but the day after my race I was walking around like I was 80 years old. However, the plus side to being young and in good shape: you’ll bounce bank and in a day or two and feel completely normal.
jenna says
oatmeal looks delish as usual 🙂
jenna
foodandfarm says
will definately have to try some of the cleaner!
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
Good choice moving some furniture into the garage, also a great smell always helps (fresh baked cookies anyone?). Have you “staged” the table with it set for a meal with place mats, napkins, plates, and the whole shebang? It helps people picture themselves being there and eating a glorious meal. Depersonalizing the house also helps potential buyers seeing themselves there.
Can you tell I watch hours of HGTV?
Simply Life says
those cleaning products look fun!
Midgetkeeper says
Glad you got some rest. Hope the open house goes well!
Morgan @ Healthy Happy Place says
I love that you guys eat outdoors on that gorgeous table! It looks so pretty.
Good luck with the house…we had the same comments on our place when we listed it last year. Everyone thought it looked beautiful and had great updates, but it was too small for their needs. ouch. hopefully you’ll have better luck than we did! Very smart to move furniture out.
Lisa says
It’s a good kind of sore though!
Janet (Pantry Bites) says
I love the oatmeal combo. Who says oatmeal has to be boring?
Ann @ Appalachian Appetites says
You’ll probably be sore for a couple of days. It’ll just remind you of what you accomplished 🙂
Hope the house sells soon!!
Jil says
Glad that, though you’re sore, over all you’re feeling good! I bet the house looks stunning! I bet the peppermint smell was amazing while cleaning – I have all natural cleaners…but blech, the smell actually makes me a little nauseous…it’s an odd smell, and peculiarly enough…I prefer the smell of bleach to it…it’s that bad.
christina cadden says
Oats sound good!
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Hope you feel loosened up and stretchy soon! The foam roller does wonders for morning soreness after a hard workout. 😀
Your morning meal looks positively beautiful. European almost! 😀
Mama Pea says
How lame am I for making a trip to Crate and Barrel today to buy a spoon? Don’t answer that.
Kath says
Fun!!
Mom says
Not lame at all. A trip to Crate and Barrel sounds like fun, Mama Pea!
Veggielady4life says
You deserve to sleep in! Hope you enjoyed it. Where did you first try Naturally Nutty?

Oh no – it was when Peanut Butter Boy sent me a jar of the Butter Toffee!

Good luck this afternoon! And I’m so glad you were able to get in a little more rest this morning… you deserve it!

Hey Kath- can i get that link for the foam rolling exercises? I tried looking for it on your site but could not find it! Thanks!
Kath says

Katherine says
Hope your pt was okay. I love your spoon, too!
What kind of coffee do you like best for your french press?
Katherine
Kath says
I just use regularly ground coffee – nothing special.
As for flavor, I love Fresh Market’s the most and anything by Caftea – they have funky flavors!
Lauren @ eater not a runner says
I can’t believe how awesome your oats look!!
Deva (Voracious Vorilee) says
I love those little Crate and Barrel spoons. I made a trip to C+B before a haircut a while back to buy a few – they make my oats last longer and are so cute!

Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) says
Generally colors in a house make it look smaller, that’s why, in part, so many new houses come with white and/or plain neutral walls to make they seem more spacious.
That bowl of oats looks YUMMY!

I looooove reading kerf in the bathtub!! Good house luck!! I am oh so so so sorry I forgot about last night.!!
Hannah says
It is a cute spoon – but I still love your antique one better!! 😀
Joanne says
Great job on your half. I ran my first on Sunday. It went ok but I felt I could have given a little more.
Anyway – I know you’re not a advocate for too many supplements but if you are game, next time you plan on doing a long run or rigorous exercise, consider taking 4500 mg of L-Glutamine before and after your exercise.
Your the nutritionist, not me but personally, I really think that’s why I don’t suffer much soreness after a lot of exercise and long runs.
Kath says
I’ll have to research that… I think just getting good quality protein would probably be sufficient though.
Sarah says
Out of curiosity- are you planning on training for any more events in the near future?
Kath says
We shall see!
