I was slammed with work this afternoon (working on a new project to debut soon!) and all of my meals were fed to me by Matt 🙂
Starting with this nub of a bread hunk from a loaf of rye bread he made today –
Around 4:30 I was hungry again – this time for my favorite snack! A yogurt with granola –
Did you notice the FLAVA!!!! I found it at Harris Teeter. I’m not a huge fan of fruit on the bottom, but it was still good. Nice berry flavor!
Matt started dinner with me saying “I’ll be done in 5 minutes” about 5 different times, and when I finally got up to help it was on the table!
We took some of our Costco Wild Salmon from the freezer to thaw last night and grilled it in a peach sauce Karen brought us a while back.
The salmon was SOOOO much better grilled!! The char flavor made up for the tougher texture. I didn’t like the sauce at first due to dehydrated onion in it, but my palate acclimated and by the end I loved it.
We also had a grilled peach!!!! SO warm and soft!
Some of the best green beans we’ve ever made. Sauteed with canola oil, lemon juice, and red curry powder! (<—the key ingredient)
Last but not least, a hunk of rye made by my hunk.
Everything tasted so good and I attribute it to the fact that I didn’t cook it! Food always tastes better when it’s prepared by someone else
I’ve got one more thing to write, then it’s time for some TV and/or reading!

Grilled peaches are my favorite summer snack. I normally have a few whenever we make them on the BBQ.

Thanks for the internship well wishes, Kath! I noticed you just turned in your application (aren’t those so incredibly time consuming?!), and I wish you the best of luck, too! 🙂

I don’t have a big outdoor grill. 🙁 Will fruit grill as nicely on an indoor grill pan? I know I prefer fish grilled on an outdoor grill over a grill pan…the flavor is just better.
Mo says
Kath, was that salmon purchased in the freezer section of Costco? I know our Costco around here only has farm raised in the fresh fish area. Just curious…
Rachel says
Peach hunks… I thought maybe there was gonna be a pic of Matt under that heading! Hehehe 🙂

Is it unhealthy at all to eat charred foods? They are so tasty, so I hope that it isn’t!

I still owe you that recipe for the “chocolate coconut bites” – and I will get it to ya once I make it next (I didn’t write the exact recipe down last time I threw the ingredients together)… but in the meantime here’s another one you might like!

Mo ,
No it was Wild Alaskan (like I said in the post!) that we cut up and frozen into portion size pieces.
Kristen ,
They say charred meat is not the healthiest, but I think fruits and veggies are OK. Esp. in modest portions and not every.single.day.
MarathonVal,
Drool!
Stacy ,
I have! I’ve got my own recipe on my sidebar 🙂

Hey Kath,
I’ve left a few comments/questions on your posts recently, but you have not addressed any of them.
I was just wondering if you are not seeing them, if you are too busy, or just choose not to address them….or a combination of all three?
Just a little bummed when I go back to see a response and I don’t see any. I’ve been an avid reader of your blog for a while now, and you have always been responsive to my comments. Sorry, not trying to take it personally or anything. I know you’ve gotten extremely busy since you first started the blog – no worries.
Kath says
Suzanne,
I read everything but choose not to respond to some questions that I have either just answered in a previous post or are easily answerable via Google 🙂
What were your questions again – sometimes I do just miss them.
Kath
Suzanne says
Hey Kath,
I completely understand! I know you weren’t dissing me on purpose. 🙂
I don’t really remember all my questions, but my most recent one was just regarding grilling fruit on an indoor grill pan vs. outdoor grill. I don’t have a grill – so was wondering if it works just as well on a grill pan.
Thanks!
Kristilyn says
I’ve never had grilled fruit before but that peach looks amazing!
Whenever I read your blog and see Matt’s breads, I get such a craving. I’m trying to get started with making my own breads and buns so Matt’s a HUGE inspiration! Everything looks so great. 🙂

Kath says
Suzanne ,
I don’t remember seeing that one!! Indoor grills would certainly work, but I think it would lack a bit of the char flavor that outdoor grills give.
Kath
Suzanne says
Thanks, Kath! That makes sense…I think I’ll give it a try on the grill pan. We have a farm nearby that has peach-picking in August. So it’ll be a perfect time to grill some of them up.
