Having a great day! I love it when the weather is nice and we can conduct all of our meetings on our bikes. We went to the bakery for the first of THREE trips downtown today. Lucky us we can do them all on bike! So much more fun [and green] than driving.
My cereal breakfast held me over about 4 hours – which I think is pretty good! Matt’s didn’t because he left out the fat (so he said!) and forgot flax and peanut butter.
Here is a preview of our LIGHTS!!!!!! We picked them out – industrial pendants – and I love them!! They’ll go all the way down when all are installed:
We have 2 chandeliers that go on each end:
Paint color!! Love the warm neutral!
And the punch of orange
After our meeting we actually ran 3.7 miles in the bakery’s neighborhood (where we’d like to buy a house someday!) It was a great quick run! Then we biked home to refuel and rest before we head out to meet a member of the Local Food Hub.
I had some leftover sardines with some Terra chips – Sweet potato ruffle!
Plus an arugula fluff salad drizzled in honey and topped with sprouts
These little bean sprouts (adzuki, pea and one other bean) are very earthy and kind of spongy – they don’t taste awesome. But they provide awesome texture (and nutrients!) and were fabulous with the sweet honey drizzle
Apple with pumpkin hummus by Crazy Camel
And Cinnamon Chip with hummus for dessert 🙂
It was a lot of food – I almost got too full, but then I took a break and went back for the rest : )
Guess what – KERF IS NOW MOBILE!!!!!
I’ve created a mobile app that pushes my posts in so you don’t have to view through the browser. There are also alerts you can enable to tell you exactly when a new post is published! (You can turn them off if you want).
How fun that the blog has it’s own little app icon <3
It’s only for Android right now [download it here] but iPhone is also in the works. As far as I can tell, the only con is that you can’t comment from the app or link directly to my post to comment. So I hope if you use it you will still leave me comments!
And we’re off…
Chelsea says
I love those lights and I’m so glad that you found a “warm” grey 🙂
WOO HOO for a mobile app. How cool!
Jenn says
yum! Where can I get some of those sweet potato ruffles? Even matches your walls:) Looks great!
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Wow.. cereal could never hold me over for such a large amount of time! I am sure it is because of all of your wonderful add-ins.
I love those lights. I can’t wait to see everything when it is all done! I am sure you are more excited then anyone for that day!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
KERF is mobile — that is awesome!
I love the orange paint and the lights are pretty cool too!
Kristi @ KristiAteIt says
I’m snacking on sweet potato chips too! They are a little different and don’t have ruffles.
How exciting about the app. Although that can be a little dangerous. I’m addicted enough to blogs as it is.
Hope says
I love the lights! I also like the orange accent wall! I can’t wait to see how everything is going to look when it’s done! 🙂 What a delicious lunch! I loev sweet potato chips! They are my favorite. So cool that you have a mobile app!!

Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
Love the bright orange picturres in the post! Orange walls + orange chips! Lovely 🙂
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Your app is so cool Kath! I can’t wait till the iPhone version comes out. I tried adzuki beans for the first time last week and I absolutely loved them!! The texture was different from other beans and I’m totally going to incorporate them in my salads more often. Haven’t tried the sprouts though – your salad looks great!
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
I LOVE that orangey colour! We have a room in our house painted like that and it’s awesome 🙂
Oh and it toatally matches the sweet potato in your lunch 😛
KathEats says
Absolutely! They are the last to digest
jillian says
hee- I think this reply goes to Freya 😉
KathEats says
Oh yeah – her comment below!
val says
woah! an app only for android! i always get apps last due to not having an iPhone, so this is awesome news.
and i’ve got to find those CHIPS!
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
Oh – do you think fats hold you ever better than protein? I always find protein does it the most for me, but I just wondered since you said Matt’s cereal didn’t hold him over.
lynn @ the actor's diet says
cool app, kath! did you design it yourself, or use someone? i ask b/c my husband has been looking for someone for his site themansguidetolove.com and he could use a recommendation!
KathEats says
Notice Orange helped me with it!
chloe@ 321delish says
your terra chips match your wall!
Mara @ What's For Dinner? says
The bakery is looking great! That shade of orange is very similar to one I’d love to have as an accent wall in our living room.
Thanks for the app company referral…I’ve been toying with making one for months, and I’ve already gotten them on making mine 🙂
Alexia (Dimple Snatcher) says
Eek! I didn’t even realize you could make your site an app! Congrats 🙂
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
So glad you got to enjoy the weather despite the busy day! And wow, those colors look great! It’s always nice to have a bold color in the mix without making it too over-powering.
How neat about the app! I have a blackberry, but I still think the concept is great. Definitely convenient when traveling or on-the-go and wanting to stay updated.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Nice lights! YAH–for a new app. And I want that dessert hummus-looks absolutely delicious. Terra chips- are they worth it??
KathEats says
Yesss!
Michelle says
I get jealous of your “small town” lifestyle every time you talk about biking/walking anywhere you need to go (which is every day, I guess…so I’m just jealous all the time!).
The bakery looks awesome!
SillySavage says
Your lunch looked so good. I love sardines but I usually eat them plain. How do you prepare yours? Thanks.

Thank you. Great video.
Stacey (The Home-Cooked Vegan) says
Glad you had a great meeting!
I think I need sweet potato chips in my life, haha 😉 Cereal leaves me hungry two hours after I eat it, but I’ve never tried adding PB to it! PB is so versatile 🙂
Have a great rest of the day! Hope you enjoy your biking and the weather.
PS. Loving how the orange came out! Looks great!
Molly says
Pumpkin hummus…yum. I am searching for a recipe now!
Michelle @ Turning Over a New Leaf says
Nice lights and walls! I look forward to seeing it all complete! Honestly, I think if I were ever to open a storefront that sold food, I’d be most excited about designing the place. It’s the only reason I ever played CafeWorld on Facebook! :]
Casey says
We need that for BlackBerry! 🙂
Baking Books says
I love Terra Chips.
How do you bike if you have stuff that you might have to take with you? I assume as business-people, you would need papers/pens/files..? – for all your meetings and stuff? Back-pack? 😉
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
OMG – you have an app?! You’ve officially hit the big time. 🙂
Erin @ Big Girl Feats says
You’re so entrepreneurial, Kath 🙂 I really love that you get to be active all day too. I say that as I sit in my office chair, desperately wishing I were outside on this really nice, spring day (nice for Rhode Island – you know it’s nice!!).

You really multitask, and then have time to exercise… Wow!!!

I’ve been throwing those little bean sprouts in my salads lately, and you are right they don’t taste that great, but with everything else in my salad, I can’t taste them. I’m hoping they are good for me though!
Tracey says

KathEats says
Already sprouted

arugula fluff salad drizzled in honey and topped with sprouts but that they dont taste awesome but the honey helps…how true. I love making dressings w/ agave and citrus, need to make one with honey soon, too.
The app. Wow, Kath. You are soooo forward thinking, always ahead of the curve, always thinking of ways to grow your blog and also make it easier for readers in the process. My hat is off to you. You are the consummate businesswoman and I love that. I love how you are a trailblazer!

Lauren @ Sassy Molassy says
Kath, the bakery is looking great! Fun lights!
Long winded question for you: I’ve been wanting to know for a while: when you say ‘i designed an app’ or when you reconfigure your blog or something, are you doing the html coding and such? I would LOVE an entire post (or series of them) on how one grows their blog technically. I mean, I don’t know the first thing about html so should I be taking classes and learn how to design and code my own blog so that I can switch over OR does it make more sense from your point of view to just research and find someone who is a good designer/coder/web guru to help make the move and design your blog as you wish?
KathEats says
Hey Lauren,
I didn’t design it myself! There’s a company that did it for me. I have done all the CSS coding on my site, but thanks to ready-built THEMES I didn’t design it from scratch. It’s more like just picking out the pattern for a sofa you’re going to buy. Everything I know is from Google and the WordPress forums, plus a little extra help from friends.
Chelsea says
Love the lights! I also love bean/pea sprouts and I love the way they taste. Ever since I was little I would get them at the farmer’s market and eat them all before I would get home. They have such a great earthy flavor. It’s so awesome to see the bakery come together.
kaila @ healthy helper! says
I love active living days! When you can get all your exercise just from going places by bike and legs! Truly the best because you get in a load of exercise without really thinking about it! Plus biking is so fun!
Lisa (bakebikeblog) says
ooooh love those lights! We have pendants in our kitchen and I love them 🙂
Erin says
My husband is gone right now, and it doesn’t make sense for me to cook for just my 14-month-old son and myself. We went to the Chinese restaurant downt the street the other night. My boy ate the heck out the bean sprouts in our ramen!
Hannah says
Sardines and Terra Chips and making strides in your building – what a great day!
Namaste Gurl says
The bakery looks WONDERFUL thus far- can’t wait to see the finished product! 🙂 Still loving the pop of orange. I’m all about bright colors 🙂
Glad u had a good day!
Jack O'Brien says
Kerf has been mobile for me forever! There is this awesome app called “Pulse” that automatically changed over your blog to a more readable format on any phone
KathEats says
Oh yeah!? I’ll have to check that guy out!
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Ohh congrats on the app! That’s really exciting! And I have a question – did you make those sweet potato ruffle fries at home or buy them somewhere?
KathEats says
I bought them – Terra Chips brand. They’re awesome!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I love lunches with lots of different components like that. They’re so fun to eat!
That is so cool about the app! So when is your movie and celebrity clothing line coming out? 😉
KathEats says
Haha.
Hilary says
Looking good! I want to try those hummuses (I don’t know the plural of humus)!
Lauren says
Wow Kath, it’s looking so great! Love the colors.
Chetney (Czesia's Adventures) says
Your lunch colors matched the colors of your bakery, how fun! Those lights are beautiful 🙂

Congratulations Kath and Matt. The space looks fabulous! Can’t wait to see it finished and I wish it were in my neighborhood.
Kim @ Spoonful of Sass says
I can’t believe you have an app. Such a technological sign of success! Can’t wait until you have one for iPhone.
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
That app is cool! Congrats on that. It’s really annoying that apps don’t include comments, though. That’s why I recently started using RSSOwl; it loads the WHOLE blog, comments and all! No clicking through. <3 it!
KathEats says
I haven’t heard of that!
Jess (Sweet Potato) says
Yay for mobile KERF!!
Alaina says
That is so cool that you’re mobile now!! You are everywhere. 🙂
Shannon @ Her Dog Blog says
Let us know when it’s available for the iPhone! LOVE it!!!!!!!!
megan says
so super excited about this! downloading the app now and can’t wait to start reading it on my evo!
Meagan says
That orange is quite bold! I am surprised you picked that color.
Lisa says
Love the orange! Orange stimulates and increases appetite, we used it in our old restaurant. Perfect choice for a bakery…although my eyes are usually closed once I enter a bakery and my nose is busy inhaling!
Khushboo says
For a second i read sweet potato truffle…a little drool might have been involved 🙂
Dee says
Yay! I’m so glad I have an android! 😉
Omg… I need to find those ruffled chips. May I ask what brand they are? I’m sure you’ve mentioned already, but I can’t find it! *sad face*
ooh, one more question! What are your favorite sardine brands/flavors?
Heh, k – I think I’m done now. Thanks Kath!
KathEats says
They’re Terra brand.
And I like any kind of smoked herring or sardines, esp. Trader jOe’s brand
Beth says
I love the mobile app on my android phone. Thanks!!
