I’m getting organized! All packed with minimal toiletries and clothing in a single duffle bag. Talk to my sister about our plans, made a date with Tina + Mal, continue to count the RSVPs for the blog meet-up, got excited to visit Harpoon!!
At 11 I went to the gym – I was frazzled with energy and practically shaking. Not sure if it was the caffeine in that huge cup of coffee or the sugar in breakfast, but it was too much! My workout helped me get some of it out. I did an extremely sweaty and hard 30 minutes on the Stairmaster followed by some ab work and to and from bike rides.
At 1PM I was hungry for lunch but still full from breakfast! That bowl held me over for ages. Do you ever get that? Where you feel like your stomach still has breakfast in it but hunger is rapidly creeping up behind it?
I used up with I could from the fridge for lunch –
Laughing Cow + Green Pepper + Mustard on Great Harvest Dakota bread –
Some veggies with Naturally Nutty Chocolate Butter Toffee peanut butter
Oikos with rhubarb ginger jam (still LOVING this jam!!!) and sliced almonds
And a plum that I didn’t get to because I was full and am saving for a snack
Do you know how long “paint my toenails” has been on my list again!? It’s so easy to put off but my toes are starting to get embarrassed of their nakedness.
And I think summer humidity just came back from a 2 week vacation….
See you for a late last supper!
Tina says
You guys will love Harpoon! Matt will be in love with their IPA! 🙂
brandi says
yeah, the humidity is back here too.
glad you got all your stuff done! 2 fun weekends in a row!
Kristine says
Hi Kath!
I apologize for this question if you already answered it, but i’ve been away this past week! When are you coming to Boston and are you planning a blogger meet-up? If so, i’d love more details! 🙂
ri'chele says
Does all of the liquid keep you full? I just had leftover roasted red pepper soup and am sloshing, (is that a word?). I feel as though I am on the high seas!
rhodeygirl says
Kath I think my comment went into spam before! eeeek!!! I made a really awesome pasta dish for lunch and it is so up your alley you must check it out!
Also, I am super bummed that I am not going to make it tomorrow. How come all the fun has to happen when I’m about to get married??????
Amelia says
All packed in a single duffel bag? Very impressed!
So bummed the humidity is back. Why can’t it just be 75 and sunny forever? 🙂
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Look at how cute your yogurt spooon is!! LOVE it! 😀
What a fun lunch, all full of variety of flavors and textures. Those are always the best. 😀
Mrs. Myers (Eat Move Write) says
lunch looks good. your bread looks so good to me. must be craving carbs. Yes, paint those toes. It’s summer time, after all!
Christie @ Quit Your Diet says
Yuck to humidity! It is back here, too.
Lunch looks great!
Courtney (The Hungry Yogini) says
woah what a day!!!!! Enjoy the summer day!!!
Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) says
I need to paint my toenails as well! If I can leave the office on time, I might treat myself to a pedicure 🙂
Eve says
Manicure/Pedicure is on my weekend to-do list! One great thing about living in NYC is that you can get them both done for $20-25! Great deal.
Shannon (The Daily Balance) says
HATE humidity, it’s come back here with a vengence! blech!
Have a great afternoon 😉
Fran says
Hai, just found your blog. Love food and love your blog!
Gillian says
I never get around to painting my toe nails either – I seem to always have to cut them down to nubbins for running all the time so polishing them seems a waste. I very rarely paint them – only for special events! I don’t have the time to maintain them so I figure sans polish looks better then chipped to death polish!
Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) says
Love the way that Dakota bread looks!!

MarathonVal says
Haha you sound like me – I frequently “move” things from one day’s to-do-list to the next because there is never time in the day!

I am so jealous that you get to go to Harpoon! I went to grad school in Vermont and they have a secondary brewery there. We used to go fill up our growlers and then take the beer back to enjoy at home for our bbqs & dinners together with friends.
I recommend the UFO and my favorite, the Munich Dark. Unfortunately you won’t get to enjoy the winter seasonal, Winter Warmer because that is by far my absolute favorite. We can’t get it here in Iowa because they don’t ship out here. I’ve even tried to have the specialty stores order it.
Enjoy!! Have a few sips for me! 🙂
Daria (Summer of the CSAs) says
Woohoo trip time! I’m excited for the reader meetup. 🙂
Katie says
I’m glad to see that you enjoy the Laughing Cow / mustard combo on sandwiches. I love it, but my husband just looks at me funny every time I make something with that pairing. Don’t knock it ’til you try it, right?
Sounds like the meetup will be a blast. Can’t wait to see pictures!
ari says
hey kath! i have a question for you.
i’m going to highlands, north carolina tomorrow and i was wondering if you had any suggestions on what to do/where to go while i’m there?
i apologize for the not so much time to answer the question so if you don’t have time it’s totally fine. thanks :)!

Enjoy your day!

Painting my toenails is ALWAYS last on my list too! I am the same exact way.
Elina (Healthy and Sane) says
Haha, you better paint those toes nails before your Boston vacation 😉 See you on Friday! 🙂
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
i know, why is it so difficult to paint one’s toenails?!?!? i’m guilty of putting it off too….
Katey says
ugh yeah its humid where I live too. I hate it! :/ your lunch looks good though 🙂
Deva says
Humidity is ucky – it’s been humid here (Cinci) and felt like rain last night. Your lunch looks awesome!
Angharad says
Painting my nails has been on my mind for literally about 4 weeks! I’m terrible!
I totally get the hunger thing. I feel physically full still but somehow my mind (and part of my belly) are starting to cry out for more food! Crazy.
Happy almost-friday to you!
Cait (Cait's Plate) says
Yeah! What is with this humidity?! Go back into hiding!!
I need a Great Harvest import – between you and Tina I’m seeing that bread all the time and am SO envious!
K says
Sounds like one productive morning!! I hate that weird period between breakfast and lunch where I’m kind of hungry but not really – I just want my stomach to make up it’s mind 😉
Maria says
I love GH bread, great lunch!
FitFoodie says
I’m seeing lots of carrots & pb lately! I gotta try it. Lately I’ve been eating them with this Mango Cream Cheese dip, soooo good 🙂

Sarah says
It just got humid here in Kentucky again today, with a vengeance! Hope you have a good night and a great trip 🙂
Jennifer says
I visited Harpoon two weeks ago! It was great fun. My hubby and I and his best friend went on a brewery tour of the Northeast, including Harpoon, Sam Adams, Allagash, Smuttynose in NH (which I highly recommend, even if you can’t go on a tour day the people there are so nice and know so much about beer, and the tasting is free and delicious!), Magic Hat, and Unibroue in Montreal!
Hope you have a great time!
Jennifer says
Oh yeah, we went to the Ben and Jerry’s Factory also- super fun!
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Good to hear that everything is getting a bit more organized for your trip. Loving that simple dinner! That Oikos sounds delicious!

The picture on this blog make all the difference. You packed all this into one bag?
